Grigory Sokolov is one of the most significant pianists from the XX century that are still alive and playing. He is outstanding as a Bach interpreter. The present Kunst der Fuge was recorded in Saint Petersburg (then Leningrad) around 1980. The quality of recording is superb. Sokolov has a deep understanding of Bach music, his playing is respectful of the score, firm and assured. Bach emerges from the playing alive and warm. Reminds me of the great Russian pianist Tatiana Nikolayeva. Thanks Classical Experience for uploading.

@@sean8470 Thanks for your comment. Most likely you know that when young, Tatiana and Sviatoslav were classmates in the Moscow Conservatory.- Both received the gold medal.

Please correct the spelling error in the title. It's "Fuge", not "Füge".

Some interpretations may be more "authentic" than this one (albeit nonsense as the keyboards at Bach´s time were still a very far cry from today´s clean-sounding (grand) pianos), still to the present day I have not heard a recording of the KdF with greater musical and sonorous beauty than this!
