Knowing for a fact you are immortal would be nice. You can try many different things without concern of harming your body.
Getting immortality without knowing would be horrendously awful. You'd always have that thought in the back of your head "am I really immortal, or have I just been lucky and I could lose it all tomorrow?"

Quite honestly, I would take an extended lifespan of an extra 200 to 300 years over complete immortality. Being immortal would be complete hell, considering you would not only outlive everyone you care about, but be unable to die in a changing world you would be unable to adapt to. At least with an extra few hundred years, you can live in a world somewhat like the one you currently live in and could make some friends over time you could grow old with once you are at the last few decades of your life.
That’s a good point. We will have advanced technology and more research that will allow people to live longer. I think that people born in 2080 or later might be able to live 200 years and those born in 2150 or later might be able to live for about 300 years. Human lifespan will increase overtime but immortality will never be possible. Right now humans can live up to 130 years

This was the saddest episode, imagine, seeing how the world is changing slowly, living until it dies, everything dissapears, everything you once knew. In the last moments of solar system, planet earths, you see it all get destroyed while you get thrown into space, slowly drifting away, remembering everything while you are still drifting in to the unknown for unknown amount of time.
Well I say if you are immortal you can reach the top of the world and help the world shape however you like, its not like you are gonna die, change it as you desire, become god, become illumaniti have fun, spend couple billion or even trillion dollars a year on research to find god/aliens and/or immortality, give immortality to others the possibilities are fuckin endless you just need little ambition and some goals thats all. Discover multiverse/time travel, travel multiverse and time and whatnot, preven heat death of the universe or find a way to survive and restart the universe, guide future species and whatnot, endless fuckin possibilities...
And then after billions of years see the solar system get born

Immortality looks like a curse to me. After a while your soul get crushed. Imagine all the emotional pain you would carry. Unless you're a psycho, in that case you're good.
In who knows how long, the universe will eventually end, everything will never change again, all is just a dark night, without a sound, without a feeling.
You will last forever, but the universe doesn't. The eternal will lasts until a certain point you gradually lose your mind. But sadly, immortality will pull your mind back to its normal state.
You can only fall into a deep sleep, where you dream of memories that existed billions of billions of years ago. You gradually forget it was all just a dream and you think you're alive, but then when you die in that dream, you're pulled back into the eternal black space.

This is literally my dream. I know I'll be alone and probably depressed beyond comprehension, however, I can't explain how much I want to see the evolution of humanity, it's downfall, the planet in 5000 years and all the cataclysmic events like the sun exploding and galaxies crashing into one another. I don't want immortality to live forever or because I'm afraid of death. I simply want the front row seat to everything that will ever happen.
So what's next after you see yourself floating outer space? And immortality doesn't say anything about you no longer needing oxygen meaning you will constantly feel suffocated for the rest of your floating time

Theoretically if you applied your time right you could get off the planet long before that. Given the sun is expected to last for at least another few million years, that should be enough time to amass immense knowledge and take over the world. Not for the sake of taking it over, but because you are an individual that is best equipped to deal with any situation due to having far more experience than any other living being. Doing so would obviously come with several difficulties, but should ultimately allow you to thrust humanity into another golden age.
Fun fact: you still feel the pain so being a imortal is a never ending death
