The first 2 packs having BACK TO BACK Charizards surely was a way to start this opening, that was INSANE to watch.

I'm back in Pokemon cards after 20 years because of 151. I have a full original 1999 Gen 1 sticker album and now trying to collect as much as possible of 151 cards for reasonable money. Love all that arts!
This opening and the Gym Challenge are the most nostalgic for me ever. Absolutely love it!
Gym challenge was the first wotc i ripped. Definitely the best. I might be bias tho
@@GrapesAuto I started with Base Set Unlimited, but the most memorable opening was Gym Challenge. For some reason, my local Wal-Mart received several boxes of the Japanese version. My brother bought as many packs as we could afford because it was so unusual. Why did a Wal-Mart in suburban Chicago get Japanese Pokémon cards?

Man, I remember pulling the Dark Charizard as a kid and I was so pumped. But at the same time, I always resented it because it wasn't as strong/cool as the base set zard.

I've slowly started collecting this set a few months ago in PSA Gem Mint 10. It's been expensive ASF and time consuming; eBay will send cards to PSA to guarantee their authenticity, which--as you know--can take awhile. Lol. Looking forward to watching this!
My dark raichu from back in the day is absolutely destroyed unfortunately 😞 love seeing you unpack these and recognising the cards I still have, too bad most of my cards are played cause I lost my binder collection

I'm glad I got a bunch of these back in the day. :) I think my favorite card is Dark Dragonite. The blue holo is so beautiful. It's my favorite Dragonite artwork. Dark Persian's pretty awesome too.
Team Rocket was my favorite set of the Wizards of the coast. My best pull was a dark Machamp.
Looks like the box had both holo and non holo versions of the rares or most of them. Noticed a pattern with that must be the way they pack them

That was such a crazy rollercoaster of an opening
I have a really cool story when it comes to Team Rocket packs. These were released as The West Coast Super Trainer Showdown 2000 was held in Long Beach, California on a historic cruise-ship-turned-hotel, the Queen Mary on July 22, 2000. The free-to-attend event drew over 7,000 fans from around the world. The way it worked was you could battle other players and you would receive 2 stamps per win, 1 per loss. If you brought your booklet to the front, they would give you 1 team rocket booster pack every 2 stamps. So what my cousin and I did was fake a bunch of games (back then they took 10-30 minutes each) and we were stamping each other every 5 minutes or less. We didn't get to enjoy the event at all (my brother did it legit) and while that sucked, we both were able to grab over 500 booster packs each. We were both able to complete the sets, while selling over half the packs to buy the OG sets (which I pulled a Charizard 1st edition grade 10 in).
Looked like a lot of fun. Sorry I missed the steam - I would like to get to know some of the community. Streams seem like the best place to do that

I collected this set in Japanese only so it’s interesting to see the non holo rares background without any actual holo in it. It’s also interesting that the dark Raichu is in this set by in Japanese it was in the neo series so way after.

I remember finding the dark charizard when i was little (not first edition though!), i was so excited as it was my favourite pokemon and first ever pokemon i had in the games. It's still my favourite card today because of those memories... & it's awesome looking 😆
