    If you haven't heard, Airstream and Pottery Barn teamed up to make the collaboration of the decade - the Pottery Barn Airstream.
    As full-time RVers living in a 2021 Airstream Classic, we had to know - was it time to trade in our Airstream for this beautiful, new model? When we got the chance to tour one at Rocket RV in Alabama, we couldn't wait to finally answer a question we get asked often: "Which is better? The Pottery Barn Airstream or the Airstream Classic?" #PotteryBarnAirstream

      San Antonio Mobile Auto Detail - We'd agree. This unit is absolutely beautiful. As soon as you walk in, you know it's something special. This is easily the coolest Airstream to come off the line since the Tommy Bahama edition years ago! L+D

      Coach Jennie and Rachael, that is an amazing upgrade! You both are going to love this Airstream. The one thing guaranteed is that anyone who lays eyes on it is going to want to check it out. They are, by far, the most popular Airstreams to come off the line in a long time, and the details are beautiful! L+D

    Thanks for pointing out the pros & cons of the Pottery Barn version. We found your observations helpful in deciding which Airstream to choose! While I love the look of the Pottery Barn version, the limited storage, easy to stain couch, cumbersome curtains, and price have us looking at other models.

  • @AC-Cowboy41
    @AC-Cowboy41 Před 2 lety +3

    Lauren, so glad you loved that kitchen. But, like Daniel forgetting about the storage under the sofa, you overlooked the cutting board situated under the lid of the drawer when you pull the trash can out. There is another slide underneath with a smaller cutting board with a exit hole for your cut offs from your veggies that drop straight into the trash can from the cutting board. Wonderful job on the video!! was it me that first told you about this model?? I hope so! LOL!!

    • @Wanderlocal
      @Wanderlocal  Před 2 lety +2

      Andrew, we do think it may have been you! Oh, and great tips on the cutting board pull outs. That's pretty cool to know. We cut a lot of veggies, so we'd LOVE that feature! L+D

      Greg, we agree. We're pretty big fans of the Classic. L+D

  • @rachaele349

    We are going with the PBA, which should be ready in April! For us, we first loved the 28RB floor plan several years ago when we looked at Flying Clouds. When the PBA was announced we knew it was for us because it was that same 28RB floor plan with all the upgrades you described.
    Yes, I could definitely see storage being an issue for full timers, but as weekend warriors that actually works better for us so we don’t bring so much junk. The extra 3 feet (let’s be honest it’s really 3 because the Classic 30 is 31 feet) in the Classic makes a big difference in the closets. Compare the 28RB and 30RB Flying Clouds - besides the kitchen and dinette being flipped it’s almost identical layouts except the 30 FC has the size closet you’re used to in your 30 Classic (and a slightly longer couch, kitchen counter and toilet side of bathroom).
    Also the wrap around black out drapes on the ends are the same style we have in our 16’ Sport Bambi and they work fine, of course we aren’t used to what you have in the Classic. I would leave the first panel on each side covering the seam in the middle so I don’t have to scoot them all the way around each time. It’s funny because the thing I don’t like about the Classic 2021 are those window boxes that stick out into the room and cover the aluminum!

      James, now you're talking! We'd LOVE to see a version like that. We love the Pottery Barn version, but it'd be hard to give up the radiant heating system that the Classic comes with. It's one luxury in the Classic that we absolutely LOVE. L+D

    Wife and I walked thru the model at Tampa's RV One. Lots of eye candy. Stain resistant material is at best, stain resistant. The kitchen counter abuts the sofa without a barrier. When I cook, food flies. I would not want to cook in that kitchen for fear of staining the sofa. All this said, everyone has different opinions and likes. That's why all the vehicles made aren't all painted the same color.

  • @kevlee18
    @kevlee18 Před 2 lety +3

    Wife and I looked at the Pottery Barn version about a week ago and we love it. However, we love the extra room in front of the couch in the 30 Foot Classic. Plus, as you know the foot rest on each end of the couch in the Classic. If we were weekend warriors then the Pottery Barn would have been perfect. However, on 2 to 3 month long trips not so much.

    Oh no you didn’t ring the doorbell that’s disappointing (the best part)! 🤣🤣

    • @Wanderlocal
      @Wanderlocal  Před 2 lety +2

      Shabbychicgreek - good call on the doorbell! 🤣 It is cool having one. I (Daniel) often hit it, even when the door is open and Lauren is inside. We use it so rarely, that it always catches her off guard. 🤣Oh, and we didn't know about the two storage drawers. That's a good thing. It means, they blended in so well they were unnoticed! It really is a beautiful unit. There is zero doubt in our minds that anyone who steps foot in this Airstream is going to be super impressed. The details truly are amazing!

    Waiting for our 33’ classic any day now. I’m actually glad they changed to the roman shades in the Classic. I like how they open up the inside and you can see more of the aluminum inside. We never had the other option to know about function. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do love the looks of the Pottery Barn Edition, but just not enough to change my mind from a Classic.

    We had a 2014 FC 28. One of the things I didn't like is in the dinette area there are two large windows. If your camping where the weather is good for having open windows You can't open the window closest to the door or it will get smashed by opening the door. We now have a 2020 FC 27 w/hatch and like it much more.

    I owned this exact same floorplan in the 2011 International Serenity 28RBQ -- however, this trailer removed nearly half the already scant storage space. The storage under the L-lounge is about half, and the storage in the bedroom is about 1/3 what it used to be. Also, the L-Lounge can no longer be pulled out for a full queen guest bed.
    The killer for me on the pottery barn is that flooring -- it attracts dirt, and looks like 1950s linoleum kitchen....

    • @tfb
      @tfb Před 2 lety +1

      oh -- and the 28 floorplan has that always-shatter dinette window -- the one, where you open the window and if anyone then opens the front door, the door swings out and shatters the open window.... I really wish they put the PB into the 27FB model, with all the storage spaces and a door that opens across the kitchen portholes

    • @Wanderlocal
      @Wanderlocal  Před 2 lety

      Kurt, we feel the same way. Someone mentioned that the fabric is stain resistant, so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up over time. We did love some of the detailed finishes though like the larger trash can, led lights in the cabinets (ours is always a pain in the butt and flickers), and the cutting board that fits perfectly over the sink, .We also liked the outdoor party ledge, but I think they sell that separately so we may order that. L+D

      Michael, you are spot on! 🙌 This is the one topic we wished we had covered. We LOVE the radiant heating system in the Classic. Nice review - I will say that a 28’ Pottery Barn vs 30’ Classic isn’t exactly a fair comparison. My old 27’ Globetrotter is little more on par with the 28’ PB edition -- Also - As an owner of a 2022 Classic 30’ I can attest that the Roman shades actually rock and aren’t the same as the PB edition. They are very darkening (which I was skeptical about as well).

  • @James-ej7yd
    @James-ej7yd Před 2 lety

    very good analysis. we currently have our 2nd airstream which is a 2021 27fb. we had previously the 28' which in retrospect we prefer the layout with the dinette set-up. we also currently have a 30 classic on order due late 2022. and yes, agree, i think the pottery barn version is somewhat overpriced. but i am sure they will have no trouble selling all they can make.

    Appreciate your interior review of the Pottery Barn. Love the Airstream when it's the Tommy Bahamas. But the Pottery Barn 'NOT" .What I love about the Airstream, it's the opposite of my home with it's similar interior looks to a Yacht interior which Airstream is known for. Don't get me wrong the Pottery Barn additions have some pretty esthetics yet the brand name doesn't cut it; Pottery Barn have closed 50% or more of their stores. Airstream should focus on Yacht names or a writers name like Hemingway. My home is modern Coastal with some mixes of modern barn. Don't want our TT to have that look, but instead want to have an expedition look. We're upgrading our current TT to a Grand design 22mle, we have our PDI first week of Feb. I do see myself owning an Airstream in few years closer to retirement with their all Electric TT.
