    With this video I want to give you an insight in how I design a textured PUNCH NEEDLE piece like this. I talk about composition, color, texture and balance. I will show how I use different punch needle and embroidery techniques and mediums to create this FIBERT ART.
    Techniques used are: Satin stitch, flat stitch, fingerloops, tufting, textured embroidery.

    Started punch needle when younger and put it aside. Those were the days before internet demos like yours and books were hard to find on the topic. Now I am so glad I kept it all since you are inspiring me to take it up again. Did a lot of crewel embroidery and now can appreciate the raised textures and interesting options you show us.
    May I comment on something unrelated that might be useful to you - my engagement/wedding rings would always travel around my finger and I was always fidgeting to get them aligned together. I took them to a jeweler and they put a tiny tack solder to join them on the underside (or wherever it can be hidden) and my fidgeting days were over.

      This fabric is 18 count. But you could go lower with that number, up to 12 count. This 18 count is great for the finer yarns.

      Thank you so much! I actually studied to be an architect. So I did get lessons in design and composition, but not fine arts. When it comes to fiberart, I am completely self taught :)

    Can I ask what is the difference between using finger loops (that orange part you tufted), rather than punching from the back using a long setting? Thank you!

      With fingerloops, you can make even longer loops (however long you want, basically) than with the longest setting.

    You Speak Of This Panama cotton cloth that you usually use...but where to you buy just the cloth for a project?? I looked online, it takes me to Monks cloth when I search...no Panama cotton

    Do you have to wash/dry the yarn before using for punch needle projects?

      For projects like this, where it is just hung on the wall, it is fine. If you intend to wash a piece in the future, it might be wise to wash the yarn first, to get that shrinkage done before you make a pillow for example.

    What program or app do you use so that you can change the colours to see what you prefer on your work? Also are you using monks cloth? I love what you're doing and the colours.

      Hi, thank you! I'm using the app Procreate, it's a drawing app I also use to create my patterns. The cloth i use is called Panama cotton, but it's also called monk's cloth, yes. It's very similar.

    So this cannot be used on anything that is going to be used. Say you make a flower on a shirt, it will just pull out because there is nothing in the back to hold the stitches in.

      Can you glue it kinda like they do with tufting? I would still be scared to do it on something you would have to wash over and over like a shirt as you have said. Although now I'm curious about if there is a glue that is made and safe for that as well.
