I believe this is my favorite video of yours, Brotherman. I have a similar connection with my Grandfather. He has been gone in body for many years now. Yet his spirit remains alive within me. I understand what you did here on every level, with every careful and decisive choice and action. You are the inspiration to many that your Grandfather was to you. Thank you for sharing this project with us.
+Brother Breeze thank you
Amazing! You did an excellent job Cody. I'm sure your granddad would be very honored to know that you took such pride in something he passed on to you. I'm sure you're quite proud of the work you did and will look forward to passing it on to Jack one day. Thank you for sharing, I'm looking forward to doing the same for a hatchet I have that belonged to my grandfather.
I enjoy the back story on this. To bring a second life to to an old piece of leather. To have a story to pass to your son and for him to share with his children. Well done.
In this video, I sensed a more solemn note in your voice and demeanor. This was one of my favorite vids!
You approach almost thing like a connoisseur. It's like you are picking a fine wine.
Your Grandpa would be so proud, Thank you Cody for sharing it!
Grand dad would have been pleased. Always nice to watch you at work, Cody. Thanks for sharing sir.
I have really enjoyed this series Cody. Your family should be very proud of you. Especially for how you have endured and honored the loss of a very special loved one. Keep up the good work. God bless you and yours.
SWEET... What a sentimental end for a dusty old piece of leather. A 75 year old gun scabbard one your granddad can smile down on now too. Thanks for sharing some of your skills with us who enjoy watching. :-)
First comment. Cody I've been watching your videos for about a month now. I am inspired and encouraged by your work, and I am refreshed and reminded of what it means to be a spiritual man and a good steward of what God blesses us with. I have recently purchased an old Bluegrass asymmetrical double bit axe and a Vaughan hatchet that I am restoring and making sheaths for. Your videos have inspired me to get back in touch with the work I do with my hands, appreciating and meditating on the old ways. Thank you for being a great example of these things in this modern age we live in.
Cody, You do exceptionally fine work. It is a true joy to watch someone who takes the time to perform true craftsmanship.
there is nothing like the work of a craftsman that loves his work. it shows that you respect what you do and the tools you do it with.
Thank you, this was a very touching video.
Great video! Leather working is an art. Glad to see you re-purposing the leather, and not letting the memories fade away.
It's really great how much you look like your grandfather, and how you keep alive his spirit through your mind and works. Thanks Cody!
What a great video Cody (wranglerstar) and well put together. Your workmanship is amazing and thankfully (because how you are raising your boy) it will not go to waste. The items and skill will be passed on for generations and this is noble. Well done brother!
My Dad worked leather and was a blacksmith I really enjoyed watching this video reminded me of watching him. Thank you.
Cody, I have spent hours upon hours watching your wisdom unfold. This video however, continues to be my favorite.
Nice work, Cody. Using the leather from his scabbard makes that axe even more special. My brother gave me a 1948 Chemical double bit like yours. Makes me want to do the same with it. God bless.
Nicely done!
I have my grandfathers, my fathers, and my uncles tools. All cherished more than they could have known.
Beautifully done Cody, Great video. I'm sure your grandfather would be proud to see his gun scabbard go to such worthy projects like Jack's new belt and a set of sheathes for his Double bit Ax.
I love these videos. It feels like we are getting to know your grandfather as well as you. Still amazed by how much the two of you look alike!
A job well done, your Grandpa would be PROUD!!! Thanks for sharing!
I again feel like I just witnessed something very intimate only a close family member would know of. It is very special that you are perpetuating your family treasure with your own craftsmanship. Well done. Thank you.
You, Sir, are a renaissance man of the 21st century. Bravo. More kudos from me than you can imagine. And the link to family history is PRICELESS!!
Your music selections for your videos are always so awesome!
Cody, you never cease to entertain the hell out of me. Glad to have you churning out such great content, man.
The leatherworked sheathes are a great design and fit the axe head well. I like how you were resourceful with the tools you had in preforming the leatherwork needed to complete this useful work of art.
I'm sure that your granddad would be very proud of you. Very nice work!
Wranglerstar, of all your videos that I've watched, I think this video is my favorite. Blessed be to you and yours.
Once again, you craft with respect to time, to history, to quality.
I know Cody has said it before but it is so nice to see normal comments on a video. Instead of hurtful and rude ones.loved the video
Outstanding! Just wonderful and mesmerizing for me to watch! Grand Dad would have been really, really proud, i'm sure!
I love it how you used the more common things around your shop to create something so beautiful. Keep it up brother.
I have to say that is the most eye appealing axe sheath i have ever seen...great job!
Taking your time...
looks great bud! Lost my dad February 1,18 ... his name was Boudreau! I’m picking up where he left off with his brand new shop we created together. Sorry to rant ... glad you and yours can keep your families close to your heart like me. Never forgotten. 🔧

Nice job. Wonderful to have such a story, legacy and memory in a simple sheath that will last a very long time. Shabbat Shalom.
Another quality job mate, what you make does not matter as much as how much of your heart and soul you put in to it. Effort is what differentiates the end results. Grandad would approve.
Your craftsmanship continues to impress me.
That came out really nice! A great way to honor your grand-dad!
Unreal. I truly enjoy each and every one of your videos. This one was amazing. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful work, as usual. I'm sure your Grandfather would be proud.
Awesome sheath Cody! Its always nice to make stuff out of family members goods and then pass them down. Great video have a great day.
Nicely done indeed, my friend! Your leather-working skills are coming along nicely! Certainly much better than my axe restoring skills... LOL!
Well done sir & nice to add the photo of your granddad at the end. You are a good steward in your families line.
Very nice Cody! I am glad you take great care of everything you have and encourage others to do so as well. God Bless!
I've watched a lot of your videos over the past couple years. Always a fan but this one was awesome. Worthy Sub. Thank you sir!
What a wonderful video. A master at work on all fronts. thanks for sharing!
Nice work, always nice to see something old made new again.
One of my favorite videos. I didn't see a response about the music so here is what I found. Music: Song 1 - Lily & Madeleine - Dimming of the Day (cover). Song 2 - Lily & Madeleine - Devil we Know.
What a beautiful job, as always. "Quality is never an accident: It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives." -William A. Foster
One of my favorites. Beautiful work.
Perhaps my favorite video.....very well done on all levels.
i really like how you give his rifle scabbard new life by using it for a sheath to his axe
The resemblance between yourself and the picture of your Granddad is uncanny. I'm sure he couldn't be more proud of his Grandson
Very nice, I appreciate the nostalgia and repurposing that you put into that sheath, it is something to emulate. G-Pops would approve.
Gorgeous! I love the sheath, and admire the time you put into making it.
As a custom holster maker myself - simply beautiful -
Beautiful work Cody! Grandad would be proud as usual!
Way to keep your Grandfathers leather alive. Very nice work! God Bless.
Hi from Wales Cody and family, just watched your recent vid nice work, Ive been a Shoe Repairer and maker for the last 26yrs, just a tip for you when your stitching thick leather use a channeling tool to sit the stitches level with the leather use leather grease on your stitching to and sand lightly your finished edges before using the grease. Lovely leather you had to work with hides are tanned a lot different these days and NOT for the best, all the best
i hope to encounter more like you in the future one day. It would be nice to be as motivated as you seem to be. Thank you for your efforts!
That was beautiful work, it seemed like a true labor of love.
You make the best home EC videos!
Cody, your leather working has improved greatly. Well done my friend. And the picture of your grandfather, might as well have been you standing there.
great video as always what a tribute to your grandfather i do a lot of leather work and just started saddle stitching the other day i love the look it adds it says quality another habit i picked up on u tube
Great work Cody. I have played with some leather work over the last couple of years making a few axe masks and knife sheaths but I am far from an expert. If I may offer some things I have picked up don't think I am preaching. I find it very hard to cut accurate smoother edges. I do it as good as possible, glue with contact adhesive, then when set use a drum sander in drill press to square and even up all the edges and bevel the corners. To burnish the edges wetting them really helps. I drill my stitching holes on the pillar drill which helps keep them well lined up on both sides and saddle stitch with the double needle method. Keep up the awesome videos Cody.
Almost brings a tear to the eye, the man would be proud. Good on ya
Amazing detail and craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful I loved the effort and care you put into that
Awesome sheath Cody! I haven't really tried my hand at leather work, but this is motivating me. Since I can't seem to stop buying old tools, the need for sheaths grows, and some are expensive to buy for everything, so its off to the net I go for some leather.
This is excellent! It's a good balance of detailed video of your work and important commentary. I've liked the video only videos but enjoy them more when you're explaining the work and reasoning behind specific tasks.
I admire your leather work. Great job sir.
Great job Cody! I can tell you put some real time, effort, and passion into this project and it was inspiring! The footage and camera angles were great too! Keep up the great work, and happy sabbath to you and your family!
What a awesome video. love the music. Your video's are getting better and better. You have amazing talent and so much fun seeing and learning from you. Thanks
I love your sight Cody. I operate a small custom saddle and leather shop from my home in Idaho. Very nice sheath and like that you used part of your grandfathers scabber. Having memories to go with something made by hand makes it very special. Liked the tools you used to measure and punch holes. One thing you can do to do away with the sharp edges on the rivet head is dome them. If you have any queastions about leather or tools i would be glad to answer them.
You did your grandad & the axe proud welldone
Beautiful sheaths. love the hole video and I'm sure that your father would have been proud of you. god bless to you and your family
That is true craftsmanship !
Awesome work. I'm trying to learn from your shows but it seems daunting at times. I'm stationed overseas and I don't have the resources you do. I have however, learned to sharpen an axe and build a small forge.
Anyway, I think you are a lucky man in the sense that you got to learn from your grandfather. The old ways are tried and true. Keep the videos coming.
Love the stitching work!
For someone with no formal leatherworking background, I think you did a fantastic job. If you ever feel the urge to delve deeper into leatherwork, I would highly suggest watching the videos put out by Nigel Armitage and Ian Atkinson here on CZcams. Excellent video, and keep up the good work!
Beautiful work. Thank you for making this video.
Inspiring and wholly masterful work Cody.
the first time I saw that picture I thought it was one of those olden day pics of you. sorry for your loss I lost my grand dad about 8 years ago and although the heart gets less it never goes away but then never do the memories
Awesome work! Thanks for sharing
He would be very proud.
Good man.
Awesome awesome!!! Great bible study last night! Really look forward to thrusday nights
A lovely video. Great work
really awesome way to remember a person
it's nice to see that your letting the old world skills live on. as an upholsterer, i have noticed that the old world crafts such as leather working, upholstery and the likes are slowly dieing away in this disposable world.
Nicely done, Cody! Very cool reuse of that leather. Same with the belt you made for Jack from same.
Beautiful work
Great work! And a beautiful tribute!
Very nicely done.
Nice work Cody that's a proper sheath!
Great way to finish a wonderful tool!
Very beautiful work, and a very touching video.
Beautiful work, sir.
