    Enjoyed the video, nice to see this stuff actually in action. That camp ground looked awesome, and judging by how the guy came right over and you said they don't let traffic thru and just the two people run it... sounds like a great well-kept spot. Electrical looked well taken care of too.
    Minor notes... the regular home plug - see that T shape on one of them (like what you'd get in a modern kitchen or bathroom); that means it can do 20A instead of the normal 15A, and you need a different Tesla adapter to use the higher rate. Also, with the 240V/50A plug, the Tesla mobile charger only draws up to 32A (aka they treat it like a 240V/40A socket) b/c they cheaped out on the cable (it's too thin); if you buy a 3rd-party mobile adapter it can go up to 40A instead of 32A, and it's significantly faster.

I also do not have experience with that newer adapter but my research indicates that it does work with at least some if not all Teslas. The 30AMP RV adapter linked to sometimes goes out of stock & they replace it with a different one until it's back in stock (I have no idea why they do this). I'll put a note next to it in the description. The one they link to works with a 50AMP 14-50 adapter from Tesla, but this would only be useful if the campground only has the 30AMP & not the 50AMP. @bryanhauer  Před 2 lety +1

      You could buy an RV surge protector/conditioner for $50 - $100 (30amp & 50amp), but from my understanding the mobile cord from Tesla already contains a surge protector. I haven't had any issues and have used it at campgrounds around the country, but might be worth it for peace of mind. The Tesla also seems to auto adjust the amps when I plug in.

    Bryan, great videos. I have 2 questions: 1)Does autopilot read and react to speed limit signs? 2) I have lots of experience RVing but I've always wondered how RV parks react to Tesla campers. Have you had any issues with RV parks not wanting you to plug in?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 lety

      Hi John - AutoPilot does read & react to speed limit signs. Like a human if there’s something in the way like a semi, it will miss it which is a bit annoying sometimes as I wish it relied on vision from the cameras + map data showing the speed limit & other info, but Tesla is going all in on camera vision. In the long run it’s probably the correct choice.
      As for RV parks… I’ll admit I really haven’t been to any and have stayed with traditional campgrounds, but I have called a few when searching on Campendium and did ask if Tesla’s were ok and all said yes. The only time I’ve heard of issues is in Florida where they strictly forbid car camping although that was put into place before Tesla took off so it’s a bit outdated. Outside of FL, I haven’t heard of any issues, but probably best to always give the place a call before booking.

      That one occasionally disappears from Amazon only to come back a couple weeks later. I can't find it anywhere else on the site. I've seen this before though and then it will reappear. I'd just keep checking that link. The one it currently links to would work if you did get the official Tesla Nema 14-50 adapter already. It would convert it from 30 amp to 50 amp. • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před rokem

      Hi Roy - You can't unfortunately. Campgrounds use a different 30 AMP connection so you need to get one made for that which is rounded for RV use. Most campgrounds have a 50 AMP outlet as well so I'd always suggest using that one with the official Tesla 14-50 adapter as your first choice as it's faster. The 30 AMP is only a backup option as occasionally campgrounds will only offer that. As you'll see in the description of this video the one I have which I showed off in this video isn't always available on Amazon and redirects to another option which is the 30 AMP RV to Tesla 14-50.
