  • This Smart Lock is king when it comes to both smart features and security, especially when we talk about the price. This is a very good lock, first and foremost, equipped with some of the very best home automation features you can have today.
    That's right, the Aqara u100 is the only smart lock I'd put on my Canadian home, so this is the best smart lock for Canadians! At least, that's my opinion after having tested many smart locks in the last year.

    Great job, Brian! I have the U100 at totally agree with your assessment. I had two other brands before it so knew what I was getting into, but was still totally surprised and pleased with the versatility. I bought the Aqara NFC tag which is not yet available here in the states. I can see it being useful if you're all bundled up on a cold day, wearing gloves, and have your phone put away. It sets up in 15 seconds or less ad works along with the other methods. Aqara also provides some quality installation hardware like their strike plate kit with the plastic insert that makes things open/close smoother. One of the issues with any lock is getting the door ready for a smart lock. If the deadbolt is tough to open/close and the door doesn't close easily, you might have issues and still need some basic carpentry skills. Oh, my review of yours isn't sponsored. I paid full price for my lock. I just happen to really like it. It's great for folks in South Carolina, too, and so far has been totally gator-proof!

    I love their outside module and inside module, but not the instalation methond nor the lock mechanism. I would prefer either to not have a key option or to let me use my own key hub and door lock. The fact that you could use a regular key to open it makes it extremely vulnerable to regular thiefs who can easily brake a regular key hub. At this moment I use the Yale Lynus smart lock. I still have the option to use a key but I changed it to a more advenced key hub (Mottura) (harder to crack) and the lock itself it's decent in terms of automations and ease of use.

    • @nickloss2377
      @nickloss2377 Před 5 měsíci

      if you're worried about vulnerability, then dont use a 'smart lock'...the key aspect of a smart lock is not at all what makes them notoriously insecure. a mechanical lock is infinitely more secure than any lock that uses circuitry to work. relays, switches, solenoids, capacitors, resistors etc.. all vulnerable to the right attack. a strong neodymium magnet can overcome many smartlocks. c'mon man.

    I used and returned it in. As a daily user I have a lot to say. It’s not as smart as advertised. 1- Auto Unlock isn’t fast (it takes it more than a min to even Auto Unlock. 2 - lock would not read the 3rd phone we tried adding a home key to. (No matter what we did) .3- you have to be next to the door to even change any setting. 4- the door locking mechanism is really weak( so weak that when my daughter turned it back when it was locking , it kept making a sound as if it kept trying to lock). 5- touching the numbers on the keypad gave me little electrical shocks (I have no idea why)6- the auto locking can’t even tell the door is open so it should not lock. It just engages the mechanism to lock whether opened or half closed. As for the doorbell the least said the better . This doorbell won’t even chime when pressed. I get notifications even when a fly passes by the camera. I even get a notification when there is nothing there. This doorbell won’t even record to the sdcard in the chime as advertised. To record to the sdcard ,you have to open the Aqara app, click record and just stay on the app, it stops recording when you leav😂. Buyer beware!!!!! Instead of Aqara letting the device connect to the home wifi, they decide to let it connect to Bluetooth (then you have to buy a bridge ) 😂
    Good part : 1- home key works (when you have been able to add it to a phone, fingerprint works fine too.
