I grew up in Russia and my childhood was in 1980 and beginning of 1990. I remember, that in my school time device like this was a treasure, it was a dream of every boy. Double cassette deck for copying tapes. OMG. I remember my first western music started from techno and rap (Technotronics, MC Hammer, KRS ONE, RUN D.M.C, Snap "The Power')... Those were great times. :)

Maaaaan!! Back in the 90's (i was a kid) my dad had the ORIGINAL Lasonic TRC-931. I miss seeimg it and was glad to experience it. When i saw this at best buy i was through the roof! Felt the Nostalgia overload with this bad boy!! Ohhh mannnn i hope these make a strong comeback!!

That's cool. I still prefer the vintage ones. I would get this one to toss the back of my truck without having to worry about it getting fucked up. Wait, I do that to my vintage ones. Never mind. But I still prefer the old school radios. I love how happy you are. That's how I feel when I come across and old one. I found one today at an estate sale for $15!!! I might eBay that shit for $375 since the two other ones there are above $500 each with one being $580.

Thank you so very much for posting this. It's far from the best box ever, but I've been having so much fun with it. I've even gone so far as to mod the AM antenna with a longer ferrite rod to improve the AM reception (I'm an AM brodcaster that still spins records, so the band is still important to me), and adjusted the tape speed to be correct ( you can get to the adjustment by pulling off the bottom sticker on the back as there's an access hold behind it).
Alright, so I probably look like a nutcase blasting it while walking down the street in 2020, but it's too much fun not to...and I've trured a few people on to my radio station while doing so.

I used to sit out on the rooftop or fire escape with friends at night looking at the elevated Subway trains go by and listen to types of DJ red alert and Mister Magic. On the boombox radio was 92ktu or KISS FM or Frankie Crocker on WBLS who later on would be followed by and then replaced by Wendy Williams
Yo Man you just brought me back home big time. I was born and raised in South Yonkers New York a block away from the Bronx. I used to listen to WKTU and 98.7 KISS FM and WBLS everyday. I don't know if you remember him or not but I am friends with Jellybean Benitez. He was also the DJ at the FUN HOUSE in Manhattan back in the day. He is the one who got Madonna her start and made her blow up.

Can’t wait to order me one my dad had one looked just like this when I was 3 an my mom remembers my dad having it when they met . I always wanted it but it broke when I was 9. I’m excited to get one again now that I’m 36. Been watching stranger things it also looks like the one in Eddie’s Kitchen so I got it for that also. But it brings good memories back an sad ones. Got one of these for Christmas, I love that it has an internal rechargable battery AND can take D batteries. The VU meters are a must because it gets LOUD. I miss my old boombox but this one checks all the boxes. Not sure if the tape deck is stereo though only one company makes tape mechanisms anymore and they're all mono (EDIT: Just checked, yes, surprisingly the tape head IS stereo! Hooray!), If the thing is plugged in, source is set to Tape/off and you flip the AC switch on the charge light will turn on and it'll charge the internal battery.
Dude, your enthusiam alone makes me wanna vuy this. I still got my Sanyo boombox form back in the day, but the tape deck is shot. This might be a buy for me , haha!

I have a realistic SCR-10 boombox from 1984. The cassette tape works but I think it needs a new belt because after playing the first song it starts slowing down it does that to all the cassettes. I am going to post a video on CZcams on my boombox. I'm not talkin in the video because, I don't do videos very well. I'm also thinking about getting one of these ion Deluxe also.

I bought my first boom box (Hitachi TRK-8190E) back in 1981, unlike the one in your video you would not have picked it up so easily from the box with one hand, it was heavy. It had triple the knobs and buttons, had proper LED level meters, had proper quality internals and had a really good cassette mechanism inside plus the bonus, the sound quality was really good. The 1980’s was a long time ago and yet the boomboxes back then were so much better than these plastic look-a-likes made in China. I love your enthusiasm but you’d pop a blood vessel if you saw the real thing like a JVC RC M90 😂👍

How does it sound
In my experience, i can tell you that it sounds good for the price. Of course you have 3 sound options such as Bass Boost, Stereo(Cassettes play in stereo as well) and you have the classic Mono. With a good ear you'll still get the crispy clean audio. Though at full volume it sounds distorted.
