    He made that look soooo much easier than real life. It took me 20 minutes, a lot of swearing, and a unique technique involving my left foot to hold the bottom left in place, my left hand working clockwise to keep the ring in the groove, and my right hand to get progress. My wife walked in right at the end to see my compromised position.

      Seriously better advise than the video. Just propped myself up between wall and washer with foot on it and worked. But now I’m patching drywall.

      Even tried the tool for trampoline springs... 2 screw drivers.. my head.. elbows.. knees ... feet .... hands....

    Heck no! He made it look extremely easy to pop that right into place. Mine is pissing me off. It was my pump I just replaced. It’s the stupid ring that’s giving me a run for my money😤.

    So glad I looked this up and found you! I was about to give myself a stroke getting pissed off and cursing every time the ring and gasket fell off! Your method worked in 5 tries vs 1.5 hours doing it various wrong ways! Thank you

    Took a flat head and basically did the reverse of removing the clamp. It finally did the trick after trying for over an hour

    Of course it's easy when you do it every day. I gave up after an hour. I will just wait for the spring expansion tool I ordered off of Amazon.

    My husband has been dealing with this since last night. This morning I used a flat wooden spatula and pushed the wire in with it while he held down the sides and I oops I mean we fixed it in two minutes.

    Trust me it ain't that easy! I did have a repair guy recommend lubing the spring with detergent. I usually helps but today I'm on the struggle bus thus why I am here. About to give it another go with the locking pliers though.

    I used a vise grip, pulled with both hands, my wife guided the ring in the groove and then I took her to dinner for the help. It's not as easy as it looks like in the video.

    I used this method, but it took GREAT force pulling it into place. Not casual like the video.

    Really struggled with this. 4 hands, flat-head screwdriver and locking needlenose pliers finally got it on it took two of us like 2 minutes and I spent an hour on it by myself.

      I managed to replace the door switch I needed to do. Got that all screwed in. Go to put the spring ring back in and it seems like it's stretched out. I'm lost. I do not want to buy another part.

    We did it in approx. 2 minutes with two blunt knives by sliding the bottom of the ring over the knives into the groove.

    so there is a tool to extend the spring that makes this much easier...he makes it look easy, but its difficult if you are changing the door boot and re-using your spring as it is not a nice new part with a moderate amount of tension

    I cannot get my gasket to sit in the metal lip and stay while I do the ring. How does the gasket stay? And what does the ring hold?

    This might work for an LG/Kenmore, but our Whirpool $itch just won't cooperate. It keeps slipping off.

      Yes thanks. After I had worked on that locking ring for over an hour my son came home, sat down with his bare hands, and put it on in about 20 seconds.@@appliancepartspros

    I'd like to know why couldn't have made this clamp similar to the inner one with the screw attachment; would be way simpler I think! Everytime I think I'm close to getting it stretched over..pop goes the seal off the mf'n lip, more swear words, and off we go again...
