i have an idea, dont know if people usually have an easy answer to this, but you could ask people what was their favorite artist of this year, could be someone they discovered, someone who made their favorite album of the year, or what they just couldnt stop listening to.

I disagree. “What’s your favorite song” is much better. Not everyone listens to music they like, let alone love, when they’re out and about. Sometimes they just let random stuff play and it doesn’t say anything at all about what their music tastes really are.
And to add on to my previous comment, some people might also only be listening to something because someone else asked them to, or because they’re studying music, and they might actually HATE the song they happen to be listening to when they get asked what they’re listening to, and then they’d miss the chance to share the music they love.
@@autumnphillips151I agree. It’s easier to listen to music that’s new to you or that you passively enjoy while your busy/out in public. I know if I played songs I absolutely loved in public I’d probably get distracted and too invested in the music but that just me😅
And learning someone’s favorite song says much more about them as a person than something they’d randomly listen to during their daily routine.
