I honestly don’t care how good/bad he’ll be I’ll play him he requires execution resource management his edgeguard ability seems through the roof same as his ledge trapping his recovery is mega good although I think it isn’t broken because you can just hit him out of the sky! I just hope he doesn’t become the BrawlMK of this game since I really want people to like and appreciate Steve not hate him but whatevs I love his inclusion and I’ll definitely play the blockhead 😎
Minecraft is huge in Japan, Domo. Only the Switch version has sold so far over 1.5 million physical copies. Imagine how much it has sold with digital included

@Star Solaiman their are a lot of characters who get clowned on for their recoverys like Doc & Chrom for example, it's just because Ganon & Mac are the most well-known for having bad recoveries

Feels like a Joker situation almost. they're gonna be just an ok character for the beggining of the match. And then they get Arsen (or in this case, like 5 seconds to mine), and they're one of the scariest characters in the game.
The thing is Joker's Arsene is a comback mechanic for people who are losing while steve just needs time to warm up.
It looks more complex like that. With the items dropping to replace them with the newest you mine, it looks like you'll have to do actual management.

But you’ll get hit by the TnT explosion most likely. And since you’re not the one initiating the explosion, you’ll take extra damage. But yeah I get your point, ledge trapping is gonna be busted

up smash isnt a real block, you can see it disappears automatically when he gets hit out of it. the block breaking is just part of the animation

That's completely fine. I mean...Nintendo hasn't really done much with them in terms of functionality for a while now. They're basically just neat little collectibles for the most part now that linger in the back of our minds(and our shelves).

Except unlike most zoners, who lack get-off-me options, Steve's frame data is CRAZY. Like he basically has Brawl Meta Knight up air.
Also, he can dig to FORCE approaches. Since his movement is kind of slow, he can dig to keep others from camping him, because if they camp, he'll just get diamond tools. I'd assume you can cancel the digging whenever so it'll be no different from Inkling's ink charge

I love Steve’s play style. Its sooo different from all the other fighters. I hope they do this more often. He looks fun to play.

For people that fear Steve will be busted:
- This man can’t get on a platform in 1 jump.
- His total jump height is, in general, awful.
- Very short ranged attacks in terms of reach.
- Recovery is monstrously bad, either being quite expensive to make it back or easy to gimp.
- Normals can break if you don’t pay attention, which can literally cost the game.
There’s more to it, but this character is basically “very good advantage + very bad disadvantage”. I bet he’s pretty good, but requires some serious brain power to be effective.
He has an amazing recovery. Electo covers as much distance as you would want, he can side b offstage, and he can use simple dirt blocks to refresh jumps. He can use blocks quickly to negate his short jump too. His range is a big problem tho
Mining for materials wont take very long, especially with his camping and escape tools.
@@jamesonsockstoes5470 Elytra isn't gonna be as good as people think, horizontal recovery is overrated. You really want vertical recovery, just ask characters like Donkey Kong. The mine cart requires resources just like the blocks and your inventory space isn't unlimited... plus, he doesn't have camping options to buy him time to mine (ie projectiles). I think Steve is being overrated just like Hero was and once people realize his flaws, he'll be mid-tier for most and high-tier for a select few.

While the US stream, provided by Nintendo (the US channel, not marked because ... USA is default?) dubbs all non-English speakers. The exception being now during the pandemic. - So if you want to watch subbed videos, you can check out NintendoUK, they upload the streams too.

I think high recoveries will make most of steves edgeguarding potential a lot worse especially with his short jumps and seemingly mediocre movement and aerial speed. I'm more interested in his jab frame traps because its going to be a good neutral tool when people get in on you. Maybe something like jab walk them across the stage into fair spike or air dodge read could be something?

Remember that he can place blocks while walking horizontally, meaning he can also create ceilings to block recoveries in addition to walls.

So what is stopping you from recovering literally just by jumping and placing blocks? Like you don’t even really need the elytras, as long as you have the blocks of course. But maybe you can’t place blocks super low down to save yourself, so we’ll have to wait and see I guess

I have noticed this guy always states the obvious as questions.
So Down Smashed, possibly Down Tilt, Weak Punching, and possibly grabs to up and side throws are the only moves you don’t need materials for.
(38:00) It does deconfirm it for this fighter pass, and there's no guarantee that there will be a pass 3. They have decided for all character slots in a pass before releasing the first character. Why would they then release a Mii fighter for a character they already had planned for the pass?

Honestly, Steve only loses two-three options without materials. Even without anvil, minecart, or iron tools, Steve has plenty of options with his down smash, default tools, down tilt, building, etc. All he needs is a second to mine and he gets anvil, which he can then use to gain even more distance and get access to minecart, which he uses to gain *even* more distance to upgrade his tools. He's got huge snowball potential and he's not helpless without his setup.

I think that steve does not need to farm, hear me out. He still has his good throw (F-Throw), when the opponent is offstage you can just spam dtilt.
@Mewtwo King, I'm willing to bet the rate certain resources appear based on the surface you mine isn't going to be different enough to actually worry about stage picking.
An important note that may have been missed: Create Block is specifically neutral B "in air." But you can also use it while standing on your own blocks.
So it seems like blocks don't count as "the ground," and therefore probably don't refresh your double jump.
It's important. Not huge, but important.
you can see Steve and Alex jump off their own blocks multiple times in a row, so I think it’s more so that they count standing on the stage as where you’d mine rather than build a block.
@@zaku28 I've watched it a couple of times; you can definitely do a normal jump off of blocks, but i haven't yet found a moment where Sakurai double jumps, places a block, and then double jumps again (so, four total jumps) without touching the stage again.
That's more what I meant, specifically recharging your "midair jump" by standing on blocks.
I may be wrong and Sakurai just never happened to show it, but i think it's a fairly likely possibility.
Absol197 fair enough, although I guess he never felt the need to since you hold the button down to do it while jumping, so letting go to double jump would be a different technique. I’ll keep my eye on that for sure

Yes. They have decided for what all 6 fighters will be in the pass. That is something they decide for before releasing the very first fighter. So _if_ Travis was going to be fighter 8-11 in this pass, it makes no sense to make a Mii fighter of him for fighter pack 7.
Crash 4 doesnt have a switch release date yet, so Crash is not de-confirmed until that game comes and goes for the switch.
