  • Linwood Elementary 3-5 graders are learning how to ride a bike while practicing etiquette and safety.
Fitness and Health Teacher Fiona Zweisler said 40 of her students didn’t know how to ride 2 weeks ago. More than 35 of that group are confident riders today, with the rest well on their way.
Spokane Public Schools is one of just 6 Washington districts to pilot “Let’s Go” via Cascade Bicycle Club. The program is funded by Move Ahead Washington grants through the Climate Commitment Act.
Linwood is one of 8 SPS schools to pilot the program, with a expansion planned for coming school years. Over the next decade, “Let’s Go” is expected to reach 90 percent of Washington public school students.
The goal is to advance public health, equity, and climate awareness by teaching a new generation that biking is a pretty rad skillset.
