  • Planning and building the framework for replaceable scenery both simplifies the construction of the scenery, improves access and enables you to vary the landscape theme over season, Era or original. This video explains how the modules can be built and how they can interconnect to the Model railroad electrical system.

    This is a perfect way to model a station for different eras. I plan to use it to model 1950's and 1980's on my future British N scale layout...

    Another lovely video, Martin. Many of us have more models than space. This is a great way to vary operations and create changing interest to keep the layout fresh. As always, you're to the point, and we'll paced.

    Thats how I do mine. Lots of little A4 size boards that can be swopped in and out as the mood takes. Reason for choosing A4 paper size is that it is really easy to handle and there are lots of readily available storage solutions for boards that are not in use.

      Great idea. I only make A4 diorama's haha. I change the one or two I have on display in the living room depending on seasons and holidays. They are really easy to handle, re worked on and indeed stored. Lucky for me I'm not really into trains but more the buildings and landscapes ;-)

    I have used a modular system just like this for years. You have taken it a lot further by exchanging modules whereas mine were done for ease of build at a workbench. I will be thinking hard about exchanging for one reason or another. Thanks for a detailed explanation.

    thats a great idea. Years ago i found an article in a hobbymagazine where the author made a railway platform that could be flipped over. One side with lots of waiting passengers and the other with
    no people, they had left. This platform could be lifted and flipped. It would also be possible to attach a small motor so you could flip it just by pressing a button. You also could make a series of
    stages , where the viewer could follow a building project from the start with an old house being torn down, the new house being built and finally the new house finished. Visitors would find that surprising , something had changed ! nice video.

    Interesting video! We are working on this very concept right now with all of our buildings to make sure we can easily just unplug them and remove to work on them or swap them out. For example, swapping out buildings at Christmas for those with Christmas lights.

    Wonderful concept and execution. I’m just beginning a new layout and planning to build in modules. I’m struggling a bit with how to build wood framework and base to facilitate adding small scenes easily like you did. Also I’m wondering how best to disguise joints between fixed and removable sections. Would you please consider making a follow up video to demonstrate how you do these subjects. I always look forward to your excellent videos. Kindest regards, Rick

    This is a great idea - never thought of before. Please make a video on how to program different lokos to have them run other lokos, trains, turnouts and signals in an automated fashion in different blocks. Best regards.

    Thank you for the video! How is this done, if you have track running over a replaceable piece? Must be hard to align the Tracks completely, so trains can run unhindered across the small gap?

    Ok, excellent project and idea, no doubt about that. I just can't help but be bothered by the path on the diorama. Literally no one would wark around to the beginning of the driveway when their front door would be a straight shot to the driver's door in the car. That path should have just been straight to the driveway. 😁

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  Před měsícem +7

      :D No no no. Paths should be curvy and beautiful. People will anyway go the shortest route cross the lawn.

      In The Netherlands we call a shortcut like that an 'olifantenpaadje' in English and Elephant Path, but I'm not sure thats a thing in English haha. Those are actually fun to make in models too. Makes a scene really realistic.
