    Great dial colors, like the high polish, like the bracelet, don't mind that it is more "metro" per the reviewer's remarks. My beef with this watch is that the "Shades" collection isn't in 41mm. Also, these 38mm doesn't have the newer movement found in the 41mm. Yet, it is more expensive.

    Got my Bay Green AT in mid-may, i love it to pieces! Wears beautifully, i was able to get a perfect fit on the bracelet even without micro adjustments(i know im an outlier in that sense) and it keeps great time. I have no complaints about the high polishing everywhere, but thats a personal preference. The only complaint i have is that the crown is a bit tough to use due to texture and size, luckily its so accurate ive only set the watch once, haha!

    Great discussion. I like to see Omega win too! But I've had to cycle through four different Omega watches to find the right one. SM300 - Couldn't read the lume on the skeleton hands at night. AT GMT - Too big, and no lume on the minute hand except the tip. Planet Ocean - Oh man! Beautiful watch and great lume...but way too thick. Finally, I lucked out and fell into a SM GMT 50th Anniversary with Sword Hands. Perfection! Love it.

    What do I think about this watch? Question should be what do I think about you! This Aqua Terra is one of the most beautiful watches on the market. I know you're nit-picking but it doesn't make sense. So what if they use some brushing with a lot of polishing? One can hardly notice it from several feet away and besides, it looks very good! I haven't seen a watch this good looking since the 2000s. The only thing I don't like about this Aqua Terra is the date window. It doesn't have enough contrast, but is it a show stopper? Heck no! I just bought one for my wife, and she absolutely loves it!

    It’s a dressy watch. The AT line still has whatever you are talking about. Non of those have been discontinued.
    This is for us who like the attention on their watches and want to be noticed. I got countless compliments on this watch!
    Among others, I also have the Yacht Master 40 which is a dressy sports watch. Also, my Cartier Santos. This one kind does the same.

      @Drakewyrm Před rokem +1

      So you mean this watch is for people who want to show off their wealth? That's why John is telling, you will see it on the streets of NY or Zurich. It's not a sport watch anymore, not an everyday watch. The high polishing will absolutely make it the ultimate scratch magnet.

    • @gyundi1984
      @gyundi1984 Před rokem +3

      That’s not what I said.
      I didn’t say that people should be showing off with an Aqua Terra.
      I certainly hope that’s not the watch people use in Nyc and or Zurich to show off their wealth. Come on! I said, some of us like the attention on our watches. We like being asked by other watch enthusiasts about what you have on your wrist. Nothing more nothing less.
      But I am saying that Omega is a very good position to have a dressy Aqua Terra just like other brands have “shiny scratch magents” Rolex, Patek, AP, IWC and the list goes on and on.
      They all make a dressy, shiny watches on a bracelet that is a scratch magnet. That doesn’t disqualify the new Aqua Terra shades.
      I commented on John’s video, because it’s unfair to put this watch down, just because it’s not to someone’s liking, plus the original line isn’t discontinued. So what’s the video for ? Getting likes and views on a video ? Bad reason to have a watch channel. I hope we all agree that John probably just expressed his genuine feelings about these watches. I get it.
      That’s what the watch world is about. We like what others don’t and vice versa.

    I think there's a question here, and that's "what is this watch competing against?"
    If it's the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, it seems strange that the AT is a lot more expensive - here in the UK, it's £6100 against the OP's £5400. Even the regular Aqua Terra 41mm starts at £4800, which runs dangerously close to Rolex money when considering the residuals (not something I usually do, but is a factor to consider when the prices are so close). Sure, it's a lot harder to get a Rolex at retail, but it's not impossible.
    If this new Aqua Terra is supposed to be competition for the Rolex DateJust, then where does that leave the original AT in Omega's lineup? Given that you can get the OG Aqua Terra in a similar size (38.5 to 38), and that its bracelet is much better than the new one, you're only trading the colourful sunburst dial for the slightly plainer, but much more interesting, "teak" one, and saving money in the bargain. Unless you're desperate to have one of those new dials, it doesn't make sense.
    As an Omega fan, it's worrying to see the direction the company is going. The movement quality remains, but the overall design language and desire to be all things to all men is bloating Omega's catalogue beyond comprehension. It's already a very messy website to navigate - especially when compared to Rolex's streamlined one. And if the new Aqua Terra bracelet is an indication of things to come, Omega also seems to be cutting corners on the overall quality of the final product. Cartier has already overtaken them as the number two to Rolex's number one spot in the industry list. If Omega continues this path, I fear they'll slip even further.
