- For years, Juan Carlos was a hero in his country. He remains an icon for the Spanish people, the living embodiment of the democratic transition and the face of Franco-released Spain. How was he able to become the ardent defender of democracy? How has he been able to form this progressive political ideal? Why did he believe in democracy at a time when few did? Or has he simply sought to remain on the throne at all costs, knowing that only a softening of the regime would allow this? This documentary attempts to answer these questions by analyzing his journey from childhood to the coup of 1981.

Both spanish and English Audios are merged together in the same volume... Can't Hear-understand any of them.
+Eric Estro I just wanted to suggest the same. I cannot understand what's being translated.
I agree. They should have used subtitles instead.
Still, it's interesting.
Yep it ruins what otherwise would have been a good documentary
If the documentary is narrated in a certain language, then the voiceover of that language should be of the same volume. The original interview voice track should always be lower than the narration in the language of the documentary. The result is the sense of people talking over each other, and in the end; nothing is understood.
The voice of the speakers' is so high, I can barely hear the translator...
God Bless HRH, the King JC, and the new king, his son. No one is perfect, but times have changed. He was, in time, the difference between dictatorship and democracy. That's what he symbolizes.
He is the legacy of the dictatorship, good riddance... next will be his son.
@@steveng2639 I doubt it.
@@spanixtanspanixtan8757 I agree. I'm very supportive of the monarchy but the ex king needs to face justice.
@@JJMHigner You mean getting rid of a thriving culturally moral and healthy populace with a degrading godless society with a government that can't even form anything.
@@europaprimum7050 I think we're talking about degrees of success here. That can only be defined by the Spanish people.
If you could re-record the voice over the Spanish speakers that would be great. The volume of the Spanish speakers should be turned down so that the English speaker's voice can be heard clearly. Right now as it is, it is very difficult to hear what the English speaker is saying.
can we just skip the background music, its so distracting and annoying
Yes, why they have to have this so loud at all is so annoying!
It's like a mob movie scene huh? What's your thoughts on Juan Carlos being groomed for leadership it seems a bit humiliating but he's obedient to those he respects and humble to address his people with a teaser love note huh?
The voice over translation is ridiculous, it blurs it all. What happened to subtitles!
Avery interesting historical rendition marred by unprofessional 'voice over', what a waste...
needs to tone down the spanish if you want english in the picture
A very great man!
Great man, greater thief.
A very great Tyrant?
Monarchy and Hunanoids?
The whole Nation works for one idlers.
Sound mixing is so bad on this foreground and background are switched, really interesting but I can barely hear the voices over the background track
Please re-upload this documentary with audio improvement (minimizing the background music and augmenting the voice overs). We can barely hear anything 😑
Better still, cut out the voice overs and add English subtitles.
I hear spanish and english at the same time on the same volume. Great job!
Yes exactly , what a lousy job, I can't hear anything that anybody is saying.
What a remarkable man! Great story
The fact that throughout the doc he’s being defended by Socialists shows his impact
Unfortunately, very difficult to watch with people talking over each other.
Music ,Spanish,English result sound no under standing
Too bad the sound is unintelligible. The narrator doesn't speak very well to begin with, and the Spanish audio is too loud--it drowns out the English. There's a good documentary on this called Juan Carlos: From Francoism to Democracy
I can't watch this. I can't hear the narrator
God Save His Majesty!
Well this aged well...
LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!
Such a shame the Spanish to English voiceover is so poor.
Such an elegant handsome man
I am very interested in this documentary, however it is extremely hard to follow as the Spanish and English voices intermingle and none of them are understandable. The volume of Spanish voices should have been lowered for the English to be heard properly, or as others said should have used subtitles. It's a pity for this work and none can hear it properly!
WHAT?? I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE MUSIC!
These dubs and music.... Arrr what a waste for this masterpiece!
Viva los Reyes!! Viva España! Vivaaaaa!
Thank god I speak Spanish. The translator’s voice is so low I can’t even hear it.
Botswana has the largest Elephant population in Africa and is home to almost a third of the Elephants in Africa. Botswana’s hunting season runs from the beginning of April to the end of September. You are not allowed to hunt female, young and/or immature animals. Animal husbandry is a complex matter. If an elephant is legally shot, and shooting of animals is sometimes appropriate to the benefit of the herd or species, for example too many males, or an animal that is suffering or carrying an infectious disease, as sad as it is to not let mother nature take care of the situation, at least the sizeable fee paid (in this case by a billionaire Middle East prince) will potentially be of benefit to continued protection from poachers and other aspects of the health of elephants, and indeed other animals Humans, that is us, assume care of. But hyperbole is the weapon that ends great people's careers.
Audio is problematic. I used CC auto-translated into English.
Franco was preparing the Monarchy for Juan Carlos to take when Franco passed away.
Awful audio. Giving up!
Cannot hear this--'bye.
Excellent documentary! Thanks for sharing!
He could have been a great man. He decided to show us the worst defaults human beings can have.
Most of spaniards will not miss him.
Maybe he was said to have defaults and did not explain himself about what is said of him, what I wonder about is the legalizing of what seems to be many political parties in government, pardon me but all these political parties in Spain cause any division amongst the people and to what they bring to the table have any service for the people, the Monarchy or do they focus on their own needs ?
I am lucky to have been born to a Spanish-Filipina mother.
Whatever.
what a fucking badass
Over voice sucks. Other than that it was excellent.
Estoril is not on the border with Spain. It is located on the coast of Portugal.
WUAN SALUTE. LOVE YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE AND TRUST. THANKS YOU SPANISH WARRIOR. LOVE YOU A LOT AND SOPHIE. THANKS A LOT.
When did Juan become King of Jerusalem?
Its only a title but is due to when King of Jerusalem abandoned his kingdom he achieved a refuge in south of Italy. This title passed to the King of Napoles and later to the King of Spain.
Absolutely ridiculous that being born into a certain family makes you special.
Who is responsible for this production? Whoever it is knows nothing about filmmaking. The massively irritating musical track completely drowns out the narration. Too bad.
The sound is awful. 2 languages at equal volume, shame.
Spain prospered under Franco! ..period.
Pinko Spaniards🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Juan Carlos should forever be condemned and despised for his brutal, sadistic hunt and killing of elephants and other animals. *He is utterly unworthy to be the recipient of any privilege or honor of any kind.*
What does it say about the ethics and humanity of a man who has the desire to hunt an animal, to watch it flee and struggle in fear, to witness the terror of it's family and others in the herd and to watch it die in agony? He is a criminal. He is a disgrace.
hahahahaha. come on. Killing animals?
David J Gill you don't know enything so shut up
Hunting/slaughtering/eating animals is considered normal all around the world. Period.
King Juan Carlos was as worthy or unworthy as 95% of earth's population in that regard.
You may have a strong inclination to change all that and to promote veganism but you totally miss the point here with that topic.
How many species of animal's do you speak of? Who's the leader of the country hunting game is permitted? Does this government have wild life rangers in the area's these animal's habitat? Has the leadership of the country have laws, the amount of animal's permitted to a hunter? Do they require all visitors to register weapons and require a license ? Your country should tax reasonable and have a sign in ledger keep records maybe offer promotional or something, I've giving you solutions here on this comment and your robbing me now.
Durante décadas, los españoles hemos sido engañados sobre las indignidad es de este personaje. Piedra angular de un sistema de corrupción, una auténtica pirámide. De este modo no nos informaran adecuadamente
Franco should never have restored the monarchy, he should have established a republic like the Portuguese did, similar to estado novo
Ryan Velez the estado novo was overthrown in 1974 idiot. Funny that people who support fascism and censorship voice their support of it on social media, the irony burns.
And what happened to Salazar and Caetano's Estado Novo, it got overthrown by a military-backed popular uprising known as the Carnation Revolution.
Let's say Franco established an authoritarian Falangist republic that lasted even after his death, that republic would also face the same fate as the Estado Novo.

There the Spainish Christians managed to hide themselves and carry on guerrilla warfare until they were strong enough to push southward again over the open grasslands of the Meseta.
Poorly produced.
This documentary single handedly ruined the vibrant history of EPAÑA..... Coños!!
Go back to film school! This terrible production needs a sound editor. You can’t understand what anyone is saying and the superfluous musical track drowns everything out. Lousy production, which is too bad because the material is interesting. Too bad you can’t understand most of it.
Juan Huge Property Ponzi Scheme
I don't like him. He is an elephant murderer.
Franco should never have restored the monarchy, he should have strengthened the falagists. Franco made spain too dependant on himself
