WHY is VESZPRÉM the city of QUEENS? || EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2023

Veszprém is one of Hungary's oldest cities and it is known as the city of Queens. I wanted to know why so I took a little trip there last sunday to find out. Along the way I met some friendly locals, had a gander down at the Christmas market and was thoroughly impressed by the beautiful architecture. I didn't realize that Veszprém was going to be the European capital of culture in 2023. Because of this honor, much of the castle district was roped off due to the preparations for the January kick-off event. However, there was still plenty to do and see and as always we were able to make our own fun. So come join me in Veszprém and learn why they call it the city of queens after all. And thank you to all the Veszprémi emberek who I met for making me feel so welcome in your lovely Hungarian city right on the shores of Lake Balaton. I will be back when the weather is warmer and we can delight by the fountains together.
