On our farm in Ohio in the 80s, we had a HUGE satellite dish. Much larger than the standard mesh kind, the folks we bought the place from had it custom made and they had a top-of-the-line receiver and electronics to go with it. This was when there were no passwords or codes needed. Everything was still free. We loved to watch the wild feeds. We saw many regular shows that sent syndicated episodes to their stations up to two weeks ahead of when they were going to be broadcast, much to the chagrin of our friends (Babylon 5 in particular. Once we forgot to set the time up on our Betamax, so we missed the feed. There was a phone number to call if there were any problems, we decided to call it and ask if they were going to retransmit the feed. The guy on the phone was wonderful. He said he could resend it in about 30 minutes, no problem. We didn't mention we weren't a TV station LOL) We had a great time watching the Arabian horse races in Dubai (we had and still have Arabian horses) and the local soap operas. It was hysterical because they just had one Betacam and when the actors got away from it, the audio disappeared. We also liked the news feeds that were not edited. The big earthquake in Northridge Calif. was the source of some pretty gruesome video sadly. It was also a blast to watch Vin Scully speak directly to us...the satellite fans...during commercials in LA during baseball games. He would set up contests (with an email address) while the camera guys would participate as well. We really miss having that dish. One of our big trees kinda made it hard to get one of the HBO channels in summer. It was so big we had to have a support brace that was imbedded in concrete. I saw your story on CNN, and was so happy to find you. We KNOW how amazing it is having one of these wonderful devices! We would have plenty of room for one here in the Wild West where we live on our little ranch. I bet they still have that crazy channel in Dubai! Please see if you can find it! They also had camel races, and they ran in the desert for at least10 miles with little kids as jockeys. The rich Arabs drove their 4WDs to follow the action. It never gets old LOL! 🤠🐴🌝🎬🎥🖖❤

I setup my C-band antenna just 3 years ago. C-band is still rich in broadcaster feeds which most people are unaware or. The programming syndication still exists! Occasional sports feeds is what I like and every NFL game is up there. The quality of the broadcaster feed directly from the stadium is as good as it gets! Even with all the fiber connectivity these days, satellite is still used as an alternative backup path.

The puppet cartoon is very surreal. A few lessons for the children watching:
    1. You may be strong as an individual, but your strength is nothing compared to that of the State.
    2. Before you unwisely decide to not go along with the program, beware that your name is already on a list and you WILL be pursued.
    3. If however you do go along with the program, you will be a hero and emit holy light while angelic spirits with machine guns will protect you.

Very interesting: 2 things, visuals and dialects. The visuals in N Korea are dynamic, people are yelling, music is exciting, visuals and text pop up on screen in italics and constantly in motion, all to show their country is strong & vivacious. Vietnam has this kind of artwork, as does Russia, both communist countries.
The S & N Korean dialects are so different. While S Korea’s is sorta delicate & “whiny” with a rising intonation for almost every sentence, N Korea’s is very forceful and Russian or China-like. It has like an energy that shows no weakness and every sentence is quick and “punchy”.

You see the brainwsashing in others but you don´t see it on yourself. More brainwashing examples? Most people disliked cats, they prefered dogs. Now every idiot with a tattoo has a cat. And these are just silly examples, for I can´t get into the deeper ones because, you know, CENSORSHIP! Yes, we got that in the west too.

It is insane to me that lots of the news segments are told through the reporters and an illustrated image or animation. We take the freedom to question information/the truth for granted sometimes. This news is like shoving a beautiful picture in someone’s face and telling them, that is what the world around you is like, and them believing in without question.

This is AI-generated. I extracted the subtitles and made a summary of the content. The video presents various themes central to North Korea’s narrative of resilience, patriotism, and loyalty to its leadership.
    1. Patriotic Songs and Leadership Praise: Throughout the broadcast, there are several songs dedicated to the nation and its leaders, including Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il. These segments highlight the country’s reverence for its leadership and the strong emotional ties between the people and the Party.
    2. Revolutionary Spirit and National Unity: A recurring theme is the call to unite with unwavering patriotism, especially in line with the goals set by the Party at the 8th Congress. There’s a strong emphasis on maintaining the spirit of perseverance and resistance, symbolized by phrases like “following the Party Central Committee ten million times,” which reflect an intense collective commitment to the nation’s revolutionary cause.
    3. Celebration of Achievements: The broadcast praises the country’s ability to overcome significant challenges, often framed as miracles or great successes that would take other nations much longer to achieve. For example, references to overcoming hardships like the “Arduous March” and achieving progress in agriculture and industry are highlighted. Visits to places like the International Friendship Exhibition Hall reinforce the idea that North Korea is respected globally.
    4. Youth and Education: A large portion of the broadcast is dedicated to children and youth. There are programs promoting good health practices, such as vaccination, and encouraging effective study habits. Additionally, youth are portrayed as the future leaders who will carry on the Party’s ideals, and music performances further reinforce the message of youthful vigor and loyalty to the Party.
    5. Resilience in Adversity: The narrative consistently underscores the country’s ability to withstand and overcome adversity. Whether through stories of miners who have contributed greatly to the nation, or the emphasis on building a strong national disaster prevention system, the message is clear: North Korea’s strength lies in its ability to endure hardships through unity and self-reliance.
    6. Cultural and Musical Performances: Cultural elements, particularly music, play a significant role in conveying these messages. Performances by bands like the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble and the Chongbong Band serve as both entertainment and reinforcement of the nation’s commitment to its ideals. These performances highlight themes of urgency, duty, and pride.
    7. National Pride: The broadcast concludes by celebrating North Korea as a “shining country.” This final message encapsulates the overall tone of the video: despite external pressures and internal challenges, the nation is portrayed as strong, resilient, and worthy of admiration.
