Designed by then Gibson president Theodore "Ted" McCarty and only previously available as a limited-edition Custom Shop model, the Gibson Theodore Standard is based on drawings and notes created by Ted McCarty in 1957.
Its features include a mahogany body, scimitar headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, and double Florentine cutaways that provide unimpeded access to all 22 frets on the rosewood capped, SlimTaper mahogany neck.
The balanced construction is exceptionally comfortable, and the powerful 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus humbucker pickups produce effortless sustain and a rich diversity of tones. It is available in Antique Natural, Vintage Cherry and Ebony. A hardshell case is also included.

"Someone" being Gibson, dredging up that design and thinking it was a good idea to market that thing, which SHOULD be the name of that POS... "The Thing". 🤣

It's crazy the $1999 model comes with upgrades from the custom shop. If you consider inlays, binding and humbuckers upgrades....

I've been hating on this thing since I first saw the old blueprint some years ago. But now, I am not so sure.... feeling conflicted. What I DO NOT like, for certain, is the headstock. I guess it's the same as an Explorer's. But it works better with that design. I'd have preferred a standard Gibson headstock for this. I see that there is also a P90 version..... Hmmmmmm.......!
