No, no, no & no! Damn, people gotta stop using "ahead of its time" for everything! It was am amazing album, BUT it was not ahead of its time. It simply explored different styles, that maybe you don't expect from a pop artist like Madonna.
That intro still gives me shivers after 20+ years. I still remember when I bought the Ray Of Light album back in '98 and played it for the first time, I could tell within 30 seconds that this album was going to be something special, and boy was it! Every song is an experience. Madonna and William Orbit created a work of art that has stood the test of time admirably.
I love this music. Transcendental and very spiritual. Conect with the Universe and The Creator. The best music of Madonna and William Orbit. Thank you so much Madonna for this. You are the best mother.
nah it's of its time rather than ahead of its time imo. the album's a classic but definitely captures the feel and zeitgeist of the late 90s electronica. reminiscent of stuff from Massive Attack, Bjork, some of Fatboy Slim's stuff in terms of the drums, etc. If it was ahead of its time that'd mean this sound would be more associated with the 2000s, 2010s or 2020s. But I don't think that's the case. Just my opinion though
i'm so happy just ray of light is my best favorite album when even i don't have album cd ray of light because electronic music is my favorite music too
I traded fame for love Without a second thought It all became a silly a game Some things cannot be bought I got exactly what I asked for Wanted it so badly Running, rushing back for more I suffered fools so gladly And now I find I've changed my mind The face of you My substitute for love My substitute for love Should I wait for you My substitute for love My substitute for love I traveled around the world Looking for a home I found myself in crowded rooms Feeling so alone I had so many lovers Who settled for the thrill Of basking in my spotlight I never felt so happy The face of you My substitute for love My substitute for love Should I wait for you My substitute for love My substitute for love Mmmmm, ooohhh, mmmmm Famous faces, far off places Trinkets I can buy No handsome stranger, heady danger Drug that I can try No ferris wheel, no heart to steal No laughter in the dark No one-night stand, no far-off land No fire that I can spark Mmmmm, mmmmm The face of you My substitute for love My substitute for love Should I wait for you My substitute for love My substitute for love Now I find I've changed my mind This is my religion
Wow this and All Saints "Pure Shores" are pretty much the same song, both produced by Orbit. Never realised until this instrumental. May have to do a mashup :/
This album was way ahead of any league, it was revolutionary in terms of sound and production. Still eases me today.
Always been a favourite of mine, ordered it on vinyl for the first time - it arrives tomorrow and i am so excited

@@loupcaldeira It's my opinion, keep yours.
The production and the sounds on this album are timeless, what are you talking about
@@loupcaldeira any "ahead of its time" begins exploring different styles.

Such ethereal sounds back then. It’s stood the test of time. If she released this this reinvention of herself in 2020 it would still be relevant.
Wow---I couldn't agree with you more!! It's a fantastic piece of art/music and it never gets old for me--I loved it from the beginning
I love the guitar in this. Especially at 2:46, you can imagine the sun rising over the ccean.

The sound signature of William Orbit - Superb!
I don't know it reminds me of my childhood in late 90s. I was 5 back then and absolutely didn't know about madonna yet. Pure masterpiece 🌌
20 years old and still ahead of its time! Epic album.

fake channel good way of putting it. I think it was ahead of its time when it was released. William orbit is a genius.
@@firstnamelastname364 it's timeless one if madonna put it out this album out today. The result would be the same
@@firstnamelastname364Well I definitely associate this album with the 2000s

This is surreal. Thank you for sharing!
My childhood.summer. village. Sunset. Cousins. 12 y.o. i think it's her musical peak. And she was so beautiful then although already not young.
This is what I feel whenever I listen to this part 2:46 😊
I doelond this and others on my phone I chill with in my way to work or others destinations at night I adore her arts
the infusion of electronica into the pop mainstream music is so evident in this production...
Finally a official one. Thanks for sharing with all.

I traded fame for love
Without a second thought
It all became a silly a game
Some things cannot be bought
I got exactly what I asked for
Wanted it so badly
Running, rushing back for more
I suffered fools so gladly
And now I find
I've changed my mind
The face of you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
Should I wait for you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
I traveled around the world
Looking for a home
I found myself in crowded rooms
Feeling so alone
I had so many lovers
Who settled for the thrill
Of basking in my spotlight
I never felt so happy
The face of you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
Should I wait for you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
Mmmmm, ooohhh, mmmmm
Famous faces, far off places
Trinkets I can buy
No handsome stranger, heady danger
Drug that I can try
No ferris wheel, no heart to steal
No laughter in the dark
No one-night stand, no far-off land
No fire that I can spark
Mmmmm, mmmmm
The face of you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
Should I wait for you
My substitute for love
My substitute for love
Now I find I've changed my mind
This is my religion
Fame loves it! 🐴👽

It honestly sounds like TV Girl
It reminds me of What I found by Solid inc. But it's still better.
How does this remind you of solid inc.. Totally different beat..
Ioganstone I in change
Elton John praised this "Ray of Light" album. 👍
NIRVANA! 🙏👍
if you like this, should check out my song Hyaline. really inspired by this track
I must be the only one who think the instrumental is so much better than the album version.
I'm a huge fan of the instrumental versons of this album also. :)
Actually it’s the same version with her voice removed.
