In this video I will rebuild a Art Nouveau chair which was made probably in Denmark, in early 1900's
AT Restoration Plus channel: @atrestorationplus
My music channel: @TotuCool
How much would you pay for this chair now?
If I had the money I say 1,500.00 so Beautiful
700PLN
$400 to $500 U.S.
400 euro
I, personally, have no money. But when i visit antique show rooms on the east and west coast of the united states, i see chairs like this sell for near $1,000 US. In the middle of the country, much less. It all depends on where you are located and who s doing the sell, and how many people are taking a cut along the way. Its a difficult problem for the crafts person.
You mentioned that this was more of a rebuild than a restoration. I think that speaks volumes. You decided to take something that was destined for the burn pile and put it back into use for years to come. All the while enjoying the process! That was wonderful to see.
Hands down the BEST restoration/repair channel. You are the GO TO for inspiration, education and food for your vintage/antique furniture loving soul.
Absolutley agree …. Beats all other❤
Also the channel epic upcycling
And also Thomas Johnson Antic Furniture Restoration. 😊
I agree, he's the master
And also Transcend Furniture Gallery!
We have MISSED you Ahti! I am always looking for a restoration from you. And this rebuild didn't disappoint. You are a master of your craft. Thank you for taking us on your journey!
“And i have some ideas”….the beginning of a beautiful collaboration, between a craftsman who made the chair, likely dead a long time, and Ahti, a craftsman ready to bring the vision back to life! I get my cup of coffee, set my tablet up on the garden table and prepare to enjoy.❤
Art nouveau really was the finest style for furniture. Alas, only the rich could afford it. I recently visited Riga and saw the most amazing art nouveau buildings I’d ever seen.
Your Rebuild is also a Reimagination. Your Historical Knowledge is so Good, You Can See the Possibilities of Variants that may not have Existed but look like They Could. Great Job! Hope to see You Again Soon !
Yeah! Another video from Ahti. This was really interesting. Your decision to replace the caning with wood veneer, the details about the laser printer, and making the distinction between restoration vs rebuilding were highlights for this audient, not to mention your usual excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Beautiful work once again!
Oh I loved that! Not a fan of wicker, but loved the replacement you came up with, so pretty. And the carved details were amazing.
As usual, your color matching on the stain is just spot on, such a beautiful job!
Thank you for posting!
From near junk to a museum piece. Ahti your craftsmanship never disappoints.
For a chair to be in a museum it needs to be completely original even if it has faults, but modification excludes most things from the museum standard, exceptions exist.
Okay, now this job was just astonishing! Wish you could see me smiling and hear me saying "Wow wow wow!!" as I watch you work. Your skill, knowledge, and ingenuity just blow me away. And I very much appreciate that even in a rebuild you respect the piece's original style. Beautiful!
I have watched many of your videos now, it is very interesting to see the differences between a true restoration and this “rebuilding”!! Bravo!!💙💙💙
Someone was very serious about nailing those joints! I love restorations when there is lots of chisel work to do. Beautiful result as always
Wow, Ahti. Your incredible attention to detail really transformed that chair! Beautiful!
nice to see you BACK
A very reasonable way to have a product sponsorship -- you used the device and provided a link. So much better than breaking in for a 'commercial and trying to sell a product.! Well done.
Você como sempre dando uma aula de talento !
Yet another great project I love watching these types repurposing a piece of furniture and making it look genuine. please keep making these!
we missed you from youtube. Happy to sse u back
Beautiful job. You are a master craftsman, and that's why I love your rebuilding and restorations so much and learn so much from you at the same time
Oh, I like this better than a restore. It adds character and charm to the chair.
Wow!! I would never believe it was the same chair if I hadn’t watched you do the work! It’s truly amazing what you can do with wood. Thank you for sharing your artistry.🐝🤗❤️
Beautiful work, as always. I am amazed at how you can glue a lump of wood to a spot to replace a missing element and when you are done it looks like there was never anything missing.
Всегда смотрю вас с большим удовольствием и восхищаюсь вашей работай! У вас золотые руки!!!😊
Amazing skill combined with technology created this stunning rebuild. I could watch you for hours.
I’m not sure how it was suppose to look originally but I think it looks gorgeous now. I really like how you put such detail beauty from your cool laser machine. I believe this awesome looking chair will live another 100years or more. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍👍🌟
For those that don't know this is the exact chair used in James Bond Casino Royale. Impressive restoration and amazing piece of history.
If by "the exact chair" you mean "a completely different chair", then you're right.
@@c0ldc0ne Whoosh
@@cj3616 Bless you.
It’s beautiful. Much much better than it was previously
Your work is simply amazing. I could watch what you do for hours. Thank you so mush for sharing just a tad of what you do.❤
Missed your exquisite work glad you’re back ❤
Wow! Astonishing!!! Such a wonderfull chair! I had no idea what the laser machine could produce. How I missed your videos! You made my Saturday very special! Bravo!🌹👏
Thanks! I needed some rest to prepare for the next season. 😎
Your new laser is cool, good job in the redo 👏 👍 👌 it's lovely 😍
I love that they built the most fragile-looking things out of oak! And that you can rehabilitate them to their best selves. 💕🇨🇦
Brilliant job.👍👍👍
Nice to See You Again! It's a Pleasure just to Watch You Work! Love the Chair! Your Re-Build is
Not rebuilt ! Resurrection. 👏👏👏
New toy! Old true skills! This video has everything.
I like the fact that you put a solid seat in it rather that replacing the rattan. Rattan never lasts. That solid seat will.
I'm not sure that 'solid' seat can be sat on. Looks very thin to me.
@@kathrynblack9152 Its been laminated. That makes it stronger.
My grandmother refinished so many chairs just like this one, but your redesign was intriguing to watch and beautiful to behold. Thank you!
That is a sexy looking chair! You did right by it!
Beautiful! It is such a pleasure to see your work! Thank you.
I love your furniture restoration videos. I have a lot of anxiety at night and watching you do beautiful work quietly (I have the volume off for my partner to sleep) helps calm me and helps me sleep better. thank you so much for sharing your talent, work and passion with the world ❤
I have just enough (minimal) experience with wood and creative handiness in general to know that the fact you make this look so easy means you have incredible skill rather than a remotely easy job. You're the best at this!
Вы даёте мебели вторую жизнь, это просто очень красиво.
That was a brilliant transformation!!! That chair turned out so beautifully!!! I always enjoy watching you work. You, good sir, are a master craftsman!!! Can't wait to see your next project!!!
Cheers from Virginia, USA!
Incredible as usual.
Wonderful to see you bring these beautiful old pieces back to life.
It's very interesting, to see you fix a chair to your own liking. Your customers tend to have good taste, but that's still a different matter than having no limitations on what you can try.
So glad you are back!
As always, breath taking! So look forward to watching your videos, I always keep an eye out for them! I think there are not many craftsman like you around anymore. Thank you for taking the time to record.
So many different steps. A thousand opportunities for me to SCREW IT UP! You did a beautiful job.
You have the best tools to showcase your talent and you are such an amazingly patient craftsman. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Grazie Maestro per la condivisione, impariamo molto. Un abbraccio dall'Italia 🇮🇹👋
For us espicially who can’t restore. It’s masterpeace
Amazing how you know so much about antique furniture and how to rebuild it. Great work! 😊
It never ceases to amaze me how you can remove damaged areas and rebuild them. Outstanding as always, Ahti.
It’s a real pleasure to watch a talented craftsman at work! New technology is wonderful but the real test is skill. It is such a beautiful, delicate chair!
Beautiful work, I love art nouveau style
Lovely to see Luther designs from Estonia. Beautiful work with the chair!
Ahti, the man who can restore almost any piece of wooden furniture. Also, the man with many examples of all different types of wood clamps. You cannot have too many!
I LOVE your work, Ahti! Whenever I see you have posted a new video, I can't wait to watch it! What beautiful work you have done on this chair. I love how you have been able to upgrade and acquire lots of high-end tools to help you accomplish these amazing restorations/rebuilds, but you are also so talented with a chisel and a hammer! your knowledge of repair far exceeds any other channel I watch. You are a master, and I hope you can teach others to work as you do, and continue on the tradition of such artistic woodworking skills!
I have a number of favourite channels. AT Restorations, Epic Recycling, Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restorations. There could be others, but, these 3 are the main ones.
Once more an excellent restauration and such attention to detail and a pleasure to watch - thank you for it
Of all your videos, this one may be my favorite! Could not envision how you were going to repair that broken corner, now amazed. Thank you!
Fantastic rebuild Ahti, you've breathed new life into something that could so easily have been discarded. A wonderful job and thank you for the video. Cheers.
With experience, talent & creativity, you've lifted this delicate, stylish & functional chair to another level of beauty.
Sadly, true craftspeople never recoup the many hours they've invested in doing fine work.
Projects such as this become a labour of love, but love doesn't pay the bills.
Thank you for the many hours of great quality recording/editing as well.🙏Cheers from Canada
True
YES!!! Should be required viewing for all students of design as well as repair and restoration. Lots to learn here about joint strength, grain direction, virtue of laminations, and how to account for shear type structural loading. Well done, important video thanks.
When one of your videos goes up my heart skips a beat! It is such a pleasure to watch you work and I have a secret. I love chairs. Just ask my family. Chairs are real works of art.
Yay!!! Ahti's back!! ❤
$250 ? Love the amazing craftsmanship- fantastic job!
This is gorgeous, Ahti. I love watching you work. The love you have for wood and old furniture is obvious and a joy to see. Thank you for sharing this bit of beauty with us all. Thanks for bringing it back to life.
You are an amazing craftsman🎉🎉🎉,and your skills are mind boggling!!! Well Done!!!
Thanks!
Once again a beautiful job of rebuilding that gorgeous chair. I always enjoy watching your videos. Thank you. I always learn so much from you. Thank you.
That is amazing how those new supports fit in perfectly with the design and look exactly like the old wood. Absolute magic.
As usual you did an outstanding job. The chair is now ready for the next hundred years. Bravo.
You did an amazing restoration/rebuild on this beautiful antique chair!! Thank you! 🪑❤
Your seat treatment seems so much more authentic for art nouveau than the cane. Good job! 👏🏻
Fabulous work - I love Art Nouveau and you did this piece the justice it deserved.
I really enjoy watching your videos...I have learned so much that I am able to recognize what techniques you're going to use to restore a piece before you even execute the process. I find it calming to watch you work. Please keep your videos coming... you're very talented.
Beautiful! Now it’s ready for new life, I love your redo yet kept the chair’s original structure. The laser design is a cool feature and will be fun for your projects. Recently I saw someone else with this machine and he made lovely metal signs for his small vineyard in France for his first project.
You have the best toys! 😉 I love to see the tools and machinery you use. I also appreciate the explanations on their usage. Well done once again 👏
Such a beautiful result!💛 And watching the process is fascinating to me, because I'm not a woodworker, and I never really thought about how much time and skill go into a project like this. Thank you for your videos!
Loved the simple "dimple" added to the seat. Beautiful! You are so creative. You have magnificent taste.
Such a lovely blend of traditional techniques and modern technology, which have produced a stunning piece of furniture.
What a beauty! It’s so hard waiting for the next video, sometimes it seems such a very long time and then you send us this feast for the eyes which was so worth the wait ❤🏴
It amazes me how you could "see" something so fine in that chair's original state. Beautiful!
I love your channel. I like the lack of music or narration, but really learn a lot from watching you work
So interesting. Best channel on CZcams, endlessly fascinating. I don't know how anyone can have so patience to do all the finicky things he does.
Just beautiful! Love the art nouveau details along every corner and at the joins, the delicate yet powerful stance of the chair. Beautiful work rebuilding it in keeping with it's design vision. ❤
wow! you have so many different glues
your profile-matching tool is really ingenious
i love how you use all these simple techniques (well, they're conceptually simple, although I realize they take a great deal of time and effort to actually master) in order to reach through history and touch this chair
Edit: I posted this comment before i saw the Lasers
you are pretty good with a chisel, I like to think I am and as soon as I think "this is going well" I catch the grain and dive deep in
Once again, you have outdone yourself with this piece it will now last for many, many more years
The goat of restoration channels. I could watch for hours
It seems that there is never such a thing as having too many clamps....or too many chisels!😁 I learn something new from you every time Ahti, and it was lovely to see you on the other side of the camera too🤩 I hope you get top dollar for this chair as it is truly beautiful🥰
i really appreciate your craftsman ship and look forward to every video that you post---thanks from TEXAS!
Damn man 😮😮😮. From tatty old nothing to beautiful fresh and stunning! You really are the best at this Mr. AT 👉👉👉. Simply fantastic 👏👏👏. Thanks for showing and sharing 🙏. 😎
I always give Athi a thumb up BEFORE watch. He is the best!
Watching you at work is allwys a pleasure: care, skill, precision, even in this case when the result is a bit of a mongrel
So careful, so thoughtful. I love your work, it is always so interesting to watch.
Another excellent rebuild/restoration. You are a true artisan!
