*Very* nice. 👏 edit 11/2018 I love this music and this interpretation of Dvorak's greatest work under a superb conductor. I often come back to this video.
I don´t remember to have heard such a Grandiose live performance of this lovely symphony as yours ! Mr. Christ really seems to live inside the whole reading with all his feelings ! Soft in the right mesure, profound and strong in the right measure. A performance of right mesures and an astounding beautiful result ! My best regards to you all !
To me this is a conductor who understands that the coda of this symphony is not one of triumph (which almost all other conductors I believe fail to realize) - he slows it down and keeps it slow to the profoundly sorrowful last chord - a victory convincing no one and leaving one in tears. Dvorak I believe wrote this symphony after the death of his mother, to whom he seems to have been very close. This performance is one of the few that fully convinces this listener.
This has always been my test of all performances of this work, and almost no one gets it right. I first heard it on a 1960s recording from Avon - the ending always broke my heart in its futile attempt to wrest victory from tragedy.
Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Can I repost your channel on Ganjing World platform? I will keep everything as is and ensure to include the credit for your videos.
