- I visited the famous city of Oran in Western Algeria known for its beautiful architecture, mountains, and unique music and culture along the Mediterranean coast.
This is my third time visiting Algeria and second time in Oran. I come back because I love the people here so much. They're extremely kind and welcoming.
Come with me on this adventure through Oran exploring the highlights, foods, and getting a taste of the people that live here.

To welcome
I am Algerian and I know that most Westerners think that Algeria is dangerous and that its people are barbaric and uneducated. And inhospitable
This is what scares them from visiting Algeria
But videos like these convey Algeria's message to the world that Algeria has a peaceful people who behave well with foreign tourists and an educated, cultured and intelligent people.
They are a people who oppose racism and discrimination, and in particular, they speak French and English fluently and are easy to communicate.
Welcome to the land of heroes
I think the west is the one that is uneducated and hypocritical, when they think like that; not all of them, some of them.
Funny you mention westerns think Algerians are barbaric. It’s historically taught about how Algeria was apart of the Barbary coast (of course Barbary comes from barbar - barbarian) and some maps pre French colonization call Algeria Barbaria. I think that’s why people think barbaric because of older views. Coming from someone raised in the US

thank you for the addition and clarification
Assalamu Alaykum to my Western Algerian brothers, I'm originally from the east (Oum Bouaghi) but grew up in the capital.
Wow third time back you started to get addicted to Algeria.
Your second home
Big welcome
#welcome_to_algeria 🇩🇿🤗 Algeria is one of the best tourist destination, you can find good food 🍝🧆, nice and friendly people 😊 gorgeous landscapes with nice weather and off course the rich history and tradions of each city 😊
PS: algeria is the biggest country in Africa so it's called the continent country,i recommend minimum 20 days to visit the 1/3 of it 😁
The Algerians are welcoming ! Greetings from Canada .
Welcome again,i'm very proud of m'y people they represent very good the country🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
As Muslims, we can raise cats in our homes, but we only use dogs for guarding purposes, and they should not enter our homes.
That's just you buddy
only you mate algerians have dogs in their homes grand dad use to have all his dogs specially one sits in his room the rest around the massive house .and they live with cats together .amazing days i remember please in the future talk about yourself not the rest of us.
@@ZANISH-EAST One of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to raise a cat to the extent that he was nicknamed Abu Huraira (Father of the Kitten) after that cat. I'm not the only Muslim who raises cats and other animals. Also, not keeping dogs in homes is not about neglecting this type of animal; on the contrary, it has been indicated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that a woman entered Hell because she confined a cat and didn't allow it freedom, while a prostitute entered Paradise because she gave water to a thirsty dog. Everyone has their own way of caring for living beings.
@naturecalmnc1917 you said that as if "all algerians are religiously following that concept" the concept of all acting like the prophet and now owning dogs for religious purposes , first you're giving him the image that we are a fundamentalist nation , and second you're picking us all as your team ,I know many algerians that own dogs
Next time say "I don't keep dogs because of religious purposes" and not "all algerians do".
Not everyone follows this structures I have a dog and cat in my home
Welcome to Algeria

You said it right: It’s a shame that all of this heritage is left to decay. Thanks for showing this place I didn’t know about it.
Thanks for your kind words mate.
It's sad to see all these historical places are falling to disrepair. What the hell are local autorites are doing to take care of these sites and save them from a complete destruction?! It's not only a part of our history but also a source of revenue for the community and the city of Oran itself. It's time to clean the house from the incompetents.
Well said. It's about time.
Welcome to Algeria for the second time
Karantita is made of chickpeas powder, oil, eggs and some water.
Long ago I lived a year in Oran and nearby (Gdyel). So much history to enjoy, just town names tell the story of empires bumping into each other.
Algeria is amazing
Oran is the birthplace of French-Algerian writer Albert Camus who received the Nobel prize for literature in the late 1950's for his post world war 2 seminal work "The Stranger" or "L'etranger" Oran was a destination for tens of thousands of European refugees during WW2 en route to the US. "Maghreb" is the Arabic name for Northwest Africa (where Arabic is spoken). The pronunciation is MA-greb.
Albert Camus was a hypocritical wimp who preached humanity and diginity while unconditionally supporting imperialism and colonial rule namely the French in Algeria, despicable
No he actually was born and raised in the far east; Taref to be exact (you can google it). Oran is the place where his most famous book The Stranger's story takes place
@@thorleif307 my sources state that Camus was born and raised in Mondovi, known today as Drean in French Algeria and grew up very poor in the Belcourt section of the city of Algiers. There is no reference to the far east or city that you mention. U can look it up.
@@tarey05 exactly. Drean is a region in Taref right under Annaba so it is in the east of Algeria

❤🇩🇿❤
Thank you
U are welcom to my city
Lol I asked my Algerian friend about cow's brain and she told me that it's not an Algerian specialty. Not everyone eats it. It depends on individual preferences. In any case, it's not his thing, nor in his family. They don't like to eat it. But I know that in Europe they eat it too. for example, I have seen many French butchers offering this type of meat on French butcher's stalls. I have also seen them in Italy Spain Portugal, and even in the Nordic countries
I am sad that this Palace is not maintained. It is still an important Palace in history, and the State or the Town Hall should have this magnificent Palace renovated so that it regains all its former splendor. But I suppose that it would take millions of dollars to renovate the Palace and since for more than a decade tourism was at a standstill during the 90s and today tourism is gradually starting to return to Algeria , it would first be necessary to replenish the funds and then have it renovated. Normally it works like this all over the world. It is tourism that allows the maintenance and renovation of historic sites. So I think that's why historical and tourist places like this Palace could not be maintained. Hence the importance of tourism relaunching in this beautiful country.
love this video about Oran, but just wondering was this during Ramadan time ?

😂😂😂😂.
41:50 well thats not the real bourek maybe it is homemade but u can try it in another restaurant 😋😋
Coming from the USA I feel in your shoes, but eating Charcuterie is not an algerian specialty, french eat snails, cow's ears, tongue, and feet , same would go with sheep, inarab countries we don't eat porc, but ineurope they will porc's charcuterie, just an anecdote for you about eating strange things the french call kidneys "rognons rouges", and testicles "rognons blancs", whether coming from bulls, rams the names don't change, the taste might change though, one french had a texan taste tge famous "rognons blancs" grilled on a pan just like a steak, he loved what he ate, when the french told him what these" rognons blancs" actually are, he threw up everything back, another guy from canada in montreal took his little family to a french restaurant for having dinner which was about just what you tasted snails dish when asjed by his 5 y.o. daughter he simply told her the name of the dish ESCARGO not to scare of, enjoy yourvstay with an open mind people have a lot to teach you about taste and dishes.
actualy we have a very good public health care systeme and its freeee , there is some special Physicals not included thats why there is these much of private doctors so its very logical

So we can't eat it ? We didn't claim that we created it, so chill bro
@@Juniel7777 I'm sorry . I spoke angrily because whoever said that her origin is Tunisian is Moroccan, not Tunisian. If a Tunisian said it, I don't care. These Moroccans want to distort Algeria's reputation with a lot of lies
