I have never mown the grass at my property (where I've lived for 17 years). I used to be a gardener by trade and now HATE mowing with a vengeance. Instead, I have a most enviable population of wildlife roaming around my garden. Frogs, toads, newts, slow-worms, and all manner of weird and wonderful insects (including a few rarities) are permanent residents here. Roe and red deer, badgers, foxes and hares are daily visitors, with stoats, weasels and otters a little less common. Over the years, I have recorded around 50 species of bird including European eagle Owl, little Owl, Goshawks, Siskins, Goldcrests, Merlins, Peregrine Falcons, Red Kites, Redpolls and Herons. People with manicured gardens might be able to claim that they get one or two or a few of these species, but certainly not all - and many of them never. Mowing is devastating to the variety of plants you can raise in your lawn, stops them flowering to attract butterflies, and stops them going to seed and attracting birds like Bullfinches (which are occurring more frequently under my 'tenancy'). Mowing kills frogs, toads, baby hedgehogs, newts and numerous insects that can't get out of the way, also consolidating the ground which harms burrows and nests. Every year that I have refused to mow, more wild flowers appear, adding to the attractiveness of a wild garden. Who cares what my human neighbours say - when my wild neighbours enjoy living here so much they want to stay!
When he mentioned finding oil it reminded me of a problem that happens here in Canada. When people buy their property, many don't know that they don't necessarily own the mineral rights to that land. So, you have a farm , some developer thinks there might be oil, buys the mineral rights from the county or whoever holds it, and can set up a well right in the middle of your farm, nothing you can do. This is most common in the more northern areas, "Cottage Country" where the county will sell off lots for cottagers to generate tax revenue, but rarely sells the mineral rights with it, then the cottage gets sold on and on over decades, with the new owners never realizing their position.
If you outright OWNED the land, and not HELD it, There'd be no mineral rights to sell. Clearly none of Yall fully understood what THOUGHTY2 was telling you!!!! You're paying ONLY FOR THE RIGHT TO USE THE LAND!!!!

"The Tree that owns itself" is more a folk story, given to the tree, and the owner who played on it only owned it as an adult. It is not legally recognized as belonging to itself, the Athens-Clarke county government owns it legally, since to have ownership of land or property in the US, the owner itself must be capable of consenting to the responsibility of ownership.

Looking at these English castles, sorounded by acres of lawns, makes me think of the poor people who had to chop down the trees, pull out the stumps and roots, plow it all, weed, plant grass and keep it in tip top shape. And all that was done manually, without the heavy equipment like stump grinders, chainsaws, etc.. Imagine cutting and maintaining those huge lawns with nothing but a hand pushed mower. They should not have to pay property taxes on the land, home, or house they claim as their main residence. Colorado is a place where you have to investigate both mineral rights and water rights for any property you want to buy. If you drill a well in Colorado you better make absolutely certain that you either own the water rights for the property or arrange a lease to the water if someone else owns the rights. I do have to point out that in the UK some people have not moved when been told to by the government who wanted to reclaim land for roads; the residents of the first few lines of homes coming into Papworth, Cambs; and most famously Quirky Stott Hall Farm - set in the west Yorkshire countryside - owner Ken Wild refused to move to make way for the M62. It was said the land was too steep in the end but that's never stopped them building it up - just an easy way out. Although now his home and farm are surrounded by a motorway....

When he mentioned finding oil it reminded me of a problem that happens here in Canada. When people buy their property, many don't know that they don't necessarily own the mineral rights to that land. So, you have a farm , some developer thinks there might be oil, buys the mineral rights from the county or whoever holds it, and can set up a well right in the middle of your farm, nothing you can do. This is most common in the more northern areas, "Cottage Country" where the county will sell off lots for cottagers to generate tax revenue, but rarely sells the mineral rights with it, then the cottage gets sold on and on over decades, with the new owners never realizing their position.
If you outright OWNED the land, and not HELD it, There'd be no mineral rights to sell. Clearly none of Yall fully understood what THOUGHTY2 was telling you!!!! You're paying ONLY FOR THE RIGHT TO USE THE LAND!!!!

Looking at these English castles, sorounded by acres of lawns, makes me think of the poor people who had to chop down the trees, pull out the stumps and roots, plow it all, weed, plant grass and keep it in tip top shape. And all that was done manually, without the heavy equipment like stump grinders, chainsaws, etc.. Imagine cutting and maintaining those huge lawns with nothing but a hand pushed mower. I've always said that after a person reaches a certain age, maybe retirement age. Here in America it's 65. They should not have to pay property taxes on the land, home, or house they claim as their main residence.

CrayCho about the illuminati, good sir. I have a bit of a theory as to what it is. And I would wish if you could share your insight and opinion. I believe that the Illuminating is real, but not in the way you might think. Humans like you and I love explanations. For example: Why did you just wake up? Your alarm went off. Why does your toe hurt? You accidentally hit the table. Why are you so tired? You just worked 14 hours. But what about the things that can not be explained? Things based only by Lady Luck? Our brains Can not process the idea of nothing. And so we make our own explanations. That I believe is what the illuminati is. A sort of failsafe so our human brain can have closure on things that can not be explained. What are your thoughts?
Interesting...that "failsafe" is how I see god rather than the illuminati.
I'm not and never was a religious person, but I do have my beliefs, afterlife and all. To me god is literally what you just said - The explanation to things that us humans can't and probably never will know the answer to. Something we use to replace the idea of nothing and understand the unexplainable.

Okay, so you’re saying the king/queen of the country “owns” the land/entire country. But what if a country doesn’t have a royal family lineage, who than owns the land/country? I’d like know that.
In democracies without royals it's the state that owns the land. So that would be the whole of all citizens together, represented by the elected government, I guess.

I do have to point out that in the UK some people have not moved when been told to by the government who wanted to reclaim land for roads; the residents of the first few lines of homes coming into Papworth, Cambs; and most famously Quirky Stott Hall Farm - set in the west Yorkshire countryside - owner Ken Wild refused to move to make way for the M62. It was said the land was too steep in the end but that's never stopped them building it up - just an easy way out. Although now his home and farm are surrounded by a motorway....
EDIT: In Paris home owners actually own the land AND tunnels under their homes, so if there is a collapse it's their responsibility, maybe a wise move by the government on that one 🤭
