He's back!! Joe, the creator of the VW Crafter Land Yacht previously featured on our channel is back with his latest creation; a downscaled version of his original Nautically inspired self-build.
This time he's used a VW Caddy as his base vehicle and has again used his incredible carpentry skills to create a super classy conversion. It's insane how many cool features he's managed to cram into such a small van; full leisure battery powered electric system, a bed that converts to an awesome dining / seating area, a kitchen that features a gas powered cooker and an electric fridge and as with his previous conversion many cool and innovative cupboard and drawer solutions.

His van looks straight out of an Ikea brochure.
neat. For the bed, a fold down platform against that wall would have possibly taken up less room and be easily stored. It could be bifold and even used at the half size.

or even a long bench seat with a pull out (beautiful woodworking and layout otherwise and anyway - just for my taste I'd prefer the bench style)

That's beautifully built. When the craftsmanship is so clean and unfussy, the van even looks larger inside. Also, I would've thought that separating the cab from the living space would make a small van feel cramped, but because this is so light and airy at the back it's actually fine. Great job.

That little van is really super! I'm planning a much less ambitious project for a Dodge Grand Caravan and I have to remember that I simply don't have the woodworking skills to include cupboards as beautiful as this, but I will shoot for functional (and not ugly!) Well done.

Nice build, the biggest disadvantage of the Caddy is sitting height for larger people. For me with 6.3´ the VW Bus is a must have....

BEYOND Impressed. It's so well crafted!!! Super stealthy and versatile. The gas mileage would be so much more efficient than a cargo van or skoolie. Also I love Gingers lol 😆
I love this .. excellent workmanship I,d have a roll futon and folding chair.. and I’d halve the woodwork in a darker wax and fill the space with cushions and little plants... great little van.. 👍👍👍

Beautiful woodwork and brilliantly thought out for the most part. I understand why he has the central part in the middle of the walkway, and its ability to move back, I just don’t care for it. However, there are people out there who wouldn’t mind whatsoever and this would be perfect for them. There is something for everyone.

I am extreemly critical for small space living.I LOVE IT. I think a murphy type or pull out bench would be more livable and I would need a porta potty. You slayed it!

This is awesome! The only things I would change is to make that middle bed portion on runners with latches so that it could be moved the length of the cab (and put a cassette toilet inside it) and that cabinet at the end I would make a full length hanging wardrobe through the kitchen bench 😁👍

I can't understand how people can build themselves a camper in which they can't stand up in!
To go from a self built, standing height camper to this seems like a major step backwards (I realize that this isn't how the builder sees it!).
That apart, I love the cabinetry, especially the radius edge cupboards and bed slats, these edges are so much nicer and give a more natural flow to the cabinets.

Can the folded bed be pushed all the way back when not sleeping? Where do you store the mattress? In the platform box?
For shower can you pull and use your water faucet outside the Van?
Is your Van Conversion Guide generic or do you have plans for various makes and models of Mini Vans. My interest mainly is in 2018 Toyota Sienna.

Hey! I've got the same pull out bed. (or at least the same shaped cuts in my boards) but mine are interlocked and don't come apart, just slide out. But I like the shape - no waste of wood.

I like it, but I would remove the box bed frame for more space. Instead I would just put an air mattress there and unflat it when I wake up.

Lovely finish on your conversion. I love the Oak effect. They do look a bit too deep for your space, though. And I couldnt live with that bed! :)

This van conversion is excellent, it is a really great effort and a lovely finish, well done! I intend to purchase a VW Caddymax van myself in early 2020 to use primarily as my work van ( I am a Pumbing and Heating Engineer) but as a part camper ( with the use of a driveaway awning) , many tyhanks for posting this video , just one question please? What is the material used to make the cupboard units? Is it 'contiboard' ? or Laquered Plywood? Cheers dx

nice build, i dont like the upper cabinets but thats just me, the laptop slide storage is spot on thou! amazing overall gas saver camper:)
I agree.. the upper cabinets on the one side work with the rest of the cabinet build, but the other side looks like it would get in the way.. banging into it a lot I bet. Other than that.. great build. Just my opinion.
The bed seems a bit fiddly, but it's a beautiful space.

It's so compact, but practical, less fuel consumption and can park anywhere. If couples need own space, then get 2 of them. If one van need servicing still have one more to stay and move around.
I have this car but with one side door(not 2 like this video shows), I'm not sure if I should place my bed on the door side or the wall side. So many difficult decisions.
Some clever ideas, but can you set up the bed without opening the back doors, case it's raining.
