      Warning: I'm a ferocious and vicious pit-bull dogmatic bitch about this song I could still recite in my sleep. I love Proco Harem best, but you really can't dance to "Whiter Pale.""still, It's simply stunning,. What's it about? I don't have a clue. But in my rocky-road life, too often I have had to skip the lite Fandango to get through a day. Be that as it may....Is there any more celebratory warning of the impending arrival of The British Invasion to an innocent America than "Go Now" by Denny and the Fritos? Wow! Does it ever get any better? Well. Yes. Land of a Thousand Dances is a big threat to the Go Now standing on the Charts of Life. Who was Denny Laine? I didn't have a clue. No one else did either. He was a blank-canvas lead- singer for a group no one ever heard of. It's destiny would never have been heard of without the machinations of a poor-but-honest black hack from Down-South United States, Bimbo Banks. As intended, it was not composed as a bombastic in-your-face Anthem so much as a soulful emotional entity for his wife to sing as a soulful emotional entity. Her song and her soul were as stated, poor-but-honest, Honest being a key word for Bessie's "Go Now." Bessie did record her song, and was it ever a true Southern Soul tear jerker, from the heart? Brilliance doesn't have to be boisterous. Bessie got robbed of what might have been a crowning achievement in her limited career. Who cares? She was black. Way too many of those southern Foundational songs were too black to be comfortable with; white people must be careful to reign in these people responsible mainly responsible for all this gospel-inflected "colored" music. Too wild for regular People to put up with. Leave it to white foreigners living in foreign ports like Liverpool, England.

    • @JackMason-oq8lf
      @JackMason-oq8lf Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yes, I remember them as a B group too. Funny that I grew up as Larry Banks' and Bessie Banks' neighbor, an hour away, and never realized the Knights in White Satin were that way, you know, a black Soul, band, or even a black- soul band. And I was a Boomer. Imagine that, haha, an ignorant Jim Crow practitioner with Southern Roots not realizing Denny Laine & the Forks were, after all, a fun band you could dance to. I can hear their jungle rhythms right this minute. Off you go, NOW!

This generation has alot of people who have only heard digital reproductions of music on computers and phones that was recorded in analog and with tube amps with good post production and bass that did at least 40 hertz in some cases. All I knew is I hadn't heard whatever the heck it was for a very long time and that it was a long lost "favorite song" from when I was pretty young. In the olden days we had to go to the record store/library to look up song lyrics, but it didn't mean you'd find it, let alone a recording, just that you now know who did it and what they called the ****** thing.
