Amazing seeing you playing them at your home town ...Sweet Strabane.... Joseph (my 10yr old) loved playing with you! They sound amazing! FAIR PLAY TO YOU.... A REAL TREASURE.
Great to read your post here in Galway especially that you're seeing to it that the piping is being passed on to your son. I loved hearing Miss McCleod of Rassay in Scotland being played so well here by this great piper.....at least I think that was the 2nd tune.
This set has at least a couple of super fans over here in Maine. I've based the aesthetics of a few sets of drones on this set. Rick Lines was kind enough to send close up photos of the bass turn around so I could make a copy of it. Seeing this video is so satisfying!
Drop me a line if you ever need any more pics/dimensions. Happy to help and glad the instrument is inspiring makers and players to this day. It’s certainly a very special set of pipes with a powerful sound
Thanks you sir! They bear a striking resemblance to your D set I believe! I’m glad Ted looked after them over the years. It also helps when BK does the reeds for them too haha
They look great I’ve always admired the pics of your set on the website. Hopefully we’ll get a few tunes with them both some time. Incidentally, the Wooffers I have also belonged to Ted 🙈
Ah yes! It's wild that so many pipers around that era were left handed too. There is a lot of left handed Taylor stuff about. And I don't know if the story is true or where it originated from. Must do some investigating!
Great! Have you taken any measurements of the double bore chanter? I'm guessing they're identical but I would love to see a plot of the bores against one another.
thats it exactly. The E is such a strange one to hear on the pipes. It can be a bit jarring but in the right setting it works well. And the lower D is just a great big fog horn, I love it!
Wow, gorgeous pipes, and they sound lovely. So warm!
The song at the end sounds so so good!!!!
I skipped through to how do they sound. Piping mad delightful. 🙏🏼👍🧡
Such masterful engineering !!! Gorgeous set of pipes. Wishing you a lifetime of enjoyment with them 🎶. Great video !!!
Awesome Awesome Awesome.
So glad to see the set so happy in its new home. At least I still get to visit it from time to time :)
Thanks Rick! It's always here for you !
@@sionrouse Thanks. You can help me get my new Taylor style set up and running so I won’t need to use them :)
Going to checkout a CD now. 👍
Great stuff, great piping
A beautiful job Jason well done you absolutely brilliant what a set and what a beautiful sound

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing and to give some words on this historical set! Can't wait to hear the double chanter with the contra bass as well.
Watch this space :)
how u doing?-what a useful sharing~ have a good one-=)
Great work. Most informative. Expertly reeded tuned and played.
Thank you David, I was lucky enough to have the set mostly reeded by maestro Benedict Koehler, which certainly helps
Lovely stuff Jason, very informative. Looking forward to hearing the double chanter and contra bass regulator too.
Very cool set !

I remember them from when Ted had them. It's great to hear them going so well! Maith thú!

@@sionrouse yes, as far as I know David too some inspiration from the design. The silver rings around the bass regulator I think especially.

@@sionrouse I thought they looked familiar. They have the E regulator right?
Aye and the extra drone too. Lovely pipes :)
Very nice sir, thanks for posting ! 👍
My pleasure! Happy to share this amazing set with the world
Absolutely class. Soon as you said left handed I Touhey popped into my head would be cool if true. Great vid man

O'Mealy's contrabass reg has a beefy sound on the bottom note, for sure.

Not that I know of, but David Quinn sells plans for this set if you’d like to make your own! I wonder if he has the double bore measured too?
Really fascinating! So are the contrabass regulator notes D, E and F#, or what are they?
