ITUNES: found.ee/abrfound August Burns Red's new album 'Found In Far Away Places' available now on Fearless Records. Stay connected: augustburnsred.com / augustburnsred / abrband / abrband
This album has so many great moments but this song's outro starting at 4:05 is particularly beautiful. The transition from electronic to acoustic guitar is flawless.
What about their best song ever ? I think it's Pangaea from the album leveler That album and their other work is great But obviously you guys didn't listen to the deluxe version MARATHON WINS
This song hits spot on to my life and my faith. I consider myself a believer but I have to admit that my beliefs have evolved. This song, from start to finish, is perfect in describing the way I feel. What I love about ABR is that even though they are openly Christian (or most of them at least) they are not afraid to show their doubts and personal opinions on their beliefs.
August Burns Red is one of the only bands in their genre that always get better & more creative each album they make !! I'm definitely inspired by some of the melodies and guitar work on this album. Everything is pretty solid all around
As a non-believer that is a HUGE fan of ABR, the lyrics to this song are somewhat of a breath of fresh air for me. I'm willing to bet that JB wrote this one seeing as how he's at least a little bit of a skeptic. It's hard for me to relate to most of ABR's songs but I finally can relate to one. This wasn't meant to be negative towards believers btw. Just my twenty one cents. See what I did there? :D
JC Allison I watched an interview with him where the interviewer asked him about creation and JB replied "I don't know how everything was created." or something along those lines. The interview is on YT but I'm not exactly sure what the title of the video is.
***** I think it's nice that he's open and honest about his faith. It's incredibly easy for outsiders and onlookers to assume he's perfect and follows Christianity to a T. We're all imperfect; we all have our doubts. The last lines of this song are incredibly inspired, and quite beautiful. Keep questioning.
To those discussing who wrote the lyrics, this song was written by their guitarist Brent Rambler. They talk about it in a track by track commentary that can be found on Spotify.
Massive fan of abr took me a while to get into this album I think it's fantastic now the guitar tone throughout is one of the cleanest I've ever heard. My opinion beautiful album can't wait to see what's next.
This has been a favorite of mine since it came out. I always thought twenty one grams was a reference to substance use. Just came across an article that theorised the human soul weighing twenty one grams and it all just clicked :0
Music is and expression, It is Art the fact that people are trashing ABR in the comments because this sound doesnt jive with them remember they don't make the music in hopes every single person will understand where it came from or how it came about these songs have meaning this album is Amazing anyone trashing it IMO doesnt respect music anyone who has invested time into learning an instrument respects other musicians its not easy to please everyone be thankful 10 years in the game they are still Shredding for their Fans, I don't trash someone elses version of art you shouldnt either
I'm going to assume that 21 grams is referring to the supposed weight of the "soul". the body weighs a bit less after somebody dies yeah? this is my favorite track of the album :)
I think this album is the first one to grasp at older concepts, The Wake and Identity have very similar heavy break downs that follow the bass line just like in White Washed and Meridian. The difference with this album is they are coupled with more focus on the lead guitar. Which I think is rad as fuck. Also JB Said in a recent interview that he would love to play music from another genre like Indie so he could focus on that sweet guitar sound, so I think thats why were getting a lot more clean guitar solos. Either way, ive been awaiting this album for like 50 days, counting down like a kid for Christmas, and it does not disappoint!!
when i first listened to this song a few months back, i noticed the amazing riff starting from 1:07 but didn't really think too much about it? now that i'm so high on ganja, that riff is all i think about. quite possibly the best one in this album in my opinion. now, i'm gonna repeat this song for at least another 21 times.
Anyone read the lyrics? Reminds me to the late AS I LAY DYING development, more doubts, less faith... A bit weird to read a sentence like "The only time you'll ever know if you chose the right side is when you close your eyes for the very last time...." The music, however, is brilliant.
Jacob Powers we can't ignore the lyrics tho... "A life dedicated to what I can't see Still grasping what I was told to believe What kind of cruel truth only presents itself in the moment you die? The facts are becoming less and less transparent constantly mixed with the thoughts of the incoherent" "I'm struggling with the blessing of the unseen It's harder and harder not to be accusing Continuing to draw the lines of acceptance I'm trying and trying to translate th evidence" someone is struggling and having doubt, but this song is also about accept the fact that, probably, we should stop seeking 'no matter what' for a truth that we'll only know it, in the moment we die. No matter what truth is it. I think the lines: "Question all that you thought you knew It's how you'll find the truth It will only make you stronger" is an evidence of it. It's like "seek for the truth, study, for some truth, because, even if it's not the right one, IN LIFE, it'll make you stronger, as a human being". I am, myself, an atheist, and I have my "trues and non trues", but, I know, that I'll never know it for sure. Only when I die.
Jacob Powers Jake and Matt continuing to thank Jesus in their credits. But every member of ABR contributes to the lyrics as Matt said in an interview. So maybe these ones are from JB e.g.? It's totally comprehensible if someone has doubts. Or loses his/her "child faith"... I went through such a "crisis", too, and found to a much deeper faith. IMHO it's just totally wrong to say, we only find out when we die if we have chosen "the right side". God is noticeable in every moment of this life. Shifting the decision to live with God to the moment when we die bears the danger to miss the major point in your life...
There is a theory that the moment a person dies, he/she loses 21 grams of weight. These 21 grams are believed to be a persons spirit, and this song is totally about ABR personally struggling with where that 21 grams goes in the moment of death.
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”John16 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”Matthew11In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.John14The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want ANYone to be destroyed, but wants EVERYone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief...... But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth He has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.2Peter3Revelation20 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord FOREVER. So encourage each other with these words.1Thessalonians4These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.1John5 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.Matthew7So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!Hebrews10Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. Revelation22
StillRodrow As I follow you, where will you lead me? To the ends of the world, or is that just the beginning? I've rolled through villages, and done my best to pass on your name. How much is too much? How far is too far? As I push on and leave everything behind, the front line swears I'm going into battle blind A life dedicated to what I can't see, still grasping what I was told to believe What kind of cruel truth only presents itself in the moment you die? We don't owe anyone repentance The only time you'll ever know if you chose the right side, is when you close your eyes for the very last time Question all that you thought you knew It's how you'll find the truth It will make you stronger
tMattLZ Hate to say, but that's what I thought, too. On all of their other albums there have been faith-inspired or -inspiring lyrics. Not on this one, even the bonus track 'Marathon' can be interpreted as "search for truth instead of search for God". Reminds me a lot of "Awakened". :/ It's known that all of the 5 members contribute to their lyrics, but if Matt and Jake continue being Christians (as you can see from their credits), this anti-faith approach is really schizo in some way.
tMattLZ Sometimes peoples faith wavers and choosing to write about it can be an outlet. I don't see anything wrong with, as someone who's %100 secular I dig it a lot.
tMattLZ Its hard to imagine Jake writing them, but even if he did, we cant judge people for struggling with their faith, everyone thinks differently and has to fight their own way.
tMattLZ You must be smoking that sour bro. I don't know how you get "anti-faith" from the from the lyrics, if anything its the exact opposite, and shit i mean honestly is he not speaking the truth? I thought his message was pretty brilliant and this is coming from a *cough*atheist*cough*. On a side note this album did not hit nearly as hard or have the lyrical depth of the other 5 albums they released. Fuck this shit i'm going to listen to constellations
As a Christian, I connect with with this song. I don't see it as anti-faith, because you learn by questioning. If you don't question something, you won't study into it to find out the truth. It's how I have to approach studying the Word, but everyone is different, and I definitely respect where you are coming from.
Wow they managed to write a full song? What, no out of place gimmicky hipster interlude awkwardly thrown into the middle? This would have made a good soft song for the album to have had. That one soft song it should have had.
Best effort I've heard on the album yet, still mediocre. Far too much repetition, the breakdowns are mediocre at best, there's little of that aggression from Messengers and Constellations left. Not impressive.
Josh Young and ive replied on every single video. Guy doesnt have one good thing to say about the album and probably has little to no music experience and knowledge of his own. Never seen a more idiotic person in my life. And this is CZcams, its full of morons.
I have to admit it, their new album sounds like shit (both musically & lyrically), it's like they (especially JB) are trying way too hard to be creative or not to produce the same sound, which makes the melodies sound really odd and incoherent.. I mean you can feel that there's no confidence in this album, you will understand what i mean if u compare it to their previous albums R&R, Leveler, Constellation, etc.
If you're one of those people that has to compare currwnt work to previous, then you're statement is wrong. They've improved tremendously. Previous stuff wasn't as memorable as their stuff in R&R and this new album.
Cristian Hernandez yes of course "PRO-GRESSION".. artists grow, some of them produce better music, and some don't. This album is really really lame, i just can't feel it. My expectation was soo high for their new album, because R&R was a mindblowing masterpiece to me, in this new album they just can't top that. I'm a big fans of ABR, but i'm not a fanboy. Know the difference.
sonofgod031 I'd have to disagree. the last album I listened to from them was "constellations", then listened to "leveler" briefly. I literally did not listen to their albums after that since leveler was released until 2 weeks ago. I literally bought the album "found in far away places" yesterday after listening to the album end to end the day before. not having been listening to abr for a couple years and coming back to this album, I was floored, and made it a priority to buy this album because I felt they changed in a fantastic direction. bands in their genre usually grow stale really fast, but not this band. I feel they aged really, really well and became much more skilled than they were in their past. just my 2 cents.
This album has so many great moments but this song's outro starting at 4:05 is particularly beautiful. The transition from electronic to acoustic guitar is flawless.
best ending in any song i've ever heard
It's great
You Clearly never heard everlasting ending ABR
Marathon all the way
What about their best song ever ?
I think it's Pangaea from the album leveler
That album and their other work is great
But obviously you guys didn't listen to the deluxe version
MARATHON WINS
Most definitely!!! That breakdown in the beginingish too!!!🤘🤘🤘
Just read the lyrics AFTER falling in love with this song, and now I want to hug Jake and J.B. This song is the epitome of perfection.
2:56-3:15 is one of their best breakdowns hands down.
Yeah it was hard to control my load
absolutely.
The beginning breakdown is probably one of my favorite breakdowns
1:07 is an amazing riff.
3:46 Onwards is pure bliss.
mrfool21 Yes! Beauty in Tragedy off the last album had a good outro, but the one in Echos is my favorite.
the whole song is such bliss. i can’t even pick a favorite part. this is my second favorite song by abr behind marianas trench
i love the acoustic transition at the end, can't stop listening to this album
Same here 😁😁😁
+core2zero I know ..is that a bad thing? This shit is addictive.
Such a good album
That's how much weed I smoked when I got off work and couldn't wait to play this album. This is god damned metal! Holy shit son!
+PuffPuffPass Your comment has 21 likes :D
+Vojislav Mijalkovic i almost liked his comment but i didnt want to ruin the 21 likes.
August Burns Red is one of the only bands in their genre that always get better & more creative each album they make !! I'm definitely inspired by some of the melodies and guitar work on this album. Everything is pretty solid all around
Best song on the new album. Unreal.
One of my favorites off this album!✌️
This song is so underrated
Best song of the album! I love it
best album by far. sooo many amazing breakdowns
The heaviest, nastiest track on this record. Hands down. I love it.
Yeah, your comment is old af but might I say that Ghosts had some heavier breakdowns. I also feel The Wake was the most aggressive song overall.
0:47 - 1:06 This part is so massive!!
yung soderh heavy as shit
Best breakdown on the album
Best album 2015 !!!!
After that beautiful outro, my brain cant help but start hearing the intro to Vanguard.
BEST SONG ON THE RECORD
That fucking outro.
That riff, that fucking riff.
GuenniKurti which one lol entire song is a breakdown haha
Holy crap, it's so nice to see a heavy ABR again.
Man see I like these kinds of comments, something positive that also shows a critical opinion. Hats off to ya.
How is jb a sceptic? Great comment btw
JC Allison I watched an interview with him where the interviewer asked him about creation and JB replied "I don't know how everything was created." or something along those lines. The interview is on YT but I'm not exactly sure what the title of the video is.
Oh okay. I sensed that someone in ABR's faith wasn't as strong as the others. Thanks. They're all great people though. *****
Woooowww #Abr Monsters of Metal
Massive fan of abr took me a while to get into this album I think it's fantastic now the guitar tone throughout is one of the cleanest I've ever heard. My opinion beautiful album can't wait to see what's next.
They need to make a music video for this song
+Hayden Ruggiero Music video for all the songs tbh...
Fav song from the album
This has been a favorite of mine since it came out. I always thought twenty one grams was a reference to substance use. Just came across an article that theorised the human soul weighing twenty one grams and it all just clicked :0
Music is and expression, It is Art the fact that people are trashing ABR in the comments because this sound doesnt jive with them remember they don't make the music in hopes every single person will understand where it came from or how it came about these songs have meaning this album is Amazing anyone trashing it IMO doesnt respect music anyone who has invested time into learning an instrument respects other musicians its not easy to please everyone be thankful 10 years in the game they are still Shredding for their Fans, I don't trash someone elses version of art you shouldnt either
amazing song, that's the ABR I enjoy listening to :)
Interesting trivia: twenty one grams is the theory proposed to how much a soul weighs.
hell yeah!!
I'm going to assume that 21 grams is referring to the supposed weight of the "soul". the body weighs a bit less after somebody dies yeah?
this is my favorite track of the album :)
They took a page out of A Thousand Words To Say But One by Darkest Hour there for a minute. Love this song though, can't get enough of it.
The soul is often thought to have mass and weigh 21 grams.
Sounds like a bunch of communist gobbledygook if you ask me.
@@HendersonHinchfinch What???
The beginning is so similar to their older song called Sincerity! :D
EetuMellin Drums Dustin wrote guitar to this song, as well as Sincerity.
I was thinking the exact same thing
EetuMellin Drums Came here to see if anyone thought the same thing hehe. I'm not alone it seems.
EetuMellin Drums same thing i was thinking
Andrew Royappa Same exact thing. I listened to it on the album and was like... someone else must share this sentiment. And here we stand.
Beautiful outtro
I think this album is the first one to grasp at older concepts, The Wake and Identity have very similar heavy break downs that follow the bass line just like in White Washed and Meridian. The difference with this album is they are coupled with more focus on the lead guitar. Which I think is rad as fuck. Also JB Said in a recent interview that he would love to play music from another genre like Indie so he could focus on that sweet guitar sound, so I think thats why were getting a lot more clean guitar solos. Either way, ive been awaiting this album for like 50 days, counting down like a kid for Christmas, and it does not disappoint!!
ALPHABETICAL AND CYCLOPEDIC INDEX. you guys are like 10 years ahead of us lol true prophets.
the intro sounds like architects, lovely!
I NEED IT!!!!!!
This was recommended for me
when i first listened to this song a few months back, i noticed the amazing riff starting from 1:07 but didn't really think too much about it? now that i'm so high on ganja, that riff is all i think about. quite possibly the best one in this album in my opinion. now, i'm gonna repeat this song for at least another 21 times.
Or maybe 21 Grams?
ALPHABETICAL AND CYCLOPEDIC INDEX...get it...changed my life today.
Why am I the only person that can't bash this album. This song is fucking awesome, and so is this album.
0:24 "Dude Jake that Harmony was SICK!!"
MTMskate1 It's not like it's my job!
Ah ho ho ho wait a minute.. IT IS!
That Breakdown Tho....
I tend to like less popular songs more than the really hyped ones, here is a perfect exampe... 1:07 is the best part of the whole album.
+Szabolcs Peták I know right? Sometimes I keep just repeating that small part
Szabolcs Peták meh its betyer at 118 when the blast beat kicks in
MOSH !!
I dont get whats to dislike about this band
THIS IS WILD
best song by them I'm almost certain
Anyone read the lyrics? Reminds me to the late AS I LAY DYING development, more doubts, less faith... A bit weird to read a sentence like "The only time you'll ever know if you chose the right side is when you close your eyes for the very last time...."
The music, however, is brilliant.
Jake posts Bible verses on instagram everyday, I'm sure there's more to these lyrics than you're interpretating.
Jacob Powers we can't ignore the lyrics tho...
"A life dedicated to what I can't see
Still grasping what I was told to believe
What kind of cruel truth only presents itself
in the moment you die?
The facts are becoming less and less transparent
constantly mixed with the thoughts of the incoherent"
"I'm struggling with the blessing of the unseen
It's harder and harder not to be accusing
Continuing to draw the lines of acceptance
I'm trying and trying to translate th evidence"
someone is struggling and having doubt, but this song is also about accept the fact that, probably, we should stop seeking 'no matter what' for a truth that we'll only know it, in the moment we die. No matter what truth is it.
I think the lines:
"Question all that you thought you knew
It's how you'll find the truth
It will only make you stronger"
is an evidence of it. It's like "seek for the truth, study, for some truth, because, even if it's not the right one, IN LIFE, it'll make you stronger, as a human being". I am, myself, an atheist, and I have my "trues and non trues", but, I know, that I'll never know it for sure. Only when I die.
Pavel Chekov it's maybe the best of the album.. aside with Martyr and Ghosts, in my opinion.
Pavel Chekov It's also possible these lyrics aren't from Jake's perspective.
The Underoath-ish breakdown at 3:04 got me good.
Who says you can't slide?
You can and to that piece, you should
The clean part and the breakdown afterward is a lot like fault line
This is very much a believers song, as these are questions of the believers at some points.
огонь!
Lyrically the best out of FIFAP together with Identity
after 1:04 just killer tune)
Fucking badass i forgot about this one
There is a theory that the moment a person dies, he/she loses 21 grams of weight. These 21 grams are believed to be a persons spirit, and this song is totally about ABR personally struggling with where that 21 grams goes in the moment of death.
0:47 😈😈

Whatchu question makes you stronger! 😂😂
0:48-1:00 isn't even fair to any other bands. You really can't beat that.
Intro starts very much like their song Sincerity ...
Imagine being so miserable with your life that you give this video and song a thumbs down...
Lyrics? :D
StillRodrow As I follow you, where will you lead me?
To the ends of the world, or is that just the beginning?
I've rolled through villages, and done my best to pass on your name.
How much is too much?
How far is too far?
As I push on and leave everything behind, the front line swears I'm going into battle blind
A life dedicated to what I can't see, still grasping what I was told to believe
What kind of cruel truth only presents itself in the moment you die?
The facts are becoming less and less transparent, constantly mixed with the thoughts of the incoherent
Dig deep
They're hidden beneath centuries of dust and dirt, covered up by the evolution of the earth
I'm struggling with the blessing of the unseen
It's harder and harder to not be accusing
Continuing to draw the lines of acceptance
I'm trying and trying to translate the evidence
Why do we owe anyone repentance while seeking answer to these questions?
We don't owe anyone repentance
The only time you'll ever know if you chose the right side, is when you close your eyes for the very last time
Question all that you thought you knew
It's how you'll find the truth
It will make you stronger
I hear Tool in this song, love it
3/4 of an ounce
A song about the good ole doctor himself and his experiment that had evidence that the soul exists and has mass. Nice link.
Mmmhmmm
ay lmao
Reminds me of architects
the guitar at 3:05 reminds me of I have a problem by beartooth
good thing I had toilet paper nearby for 0:45 to 1:09..
Sincerity part 2?
They shouldve names this son questions lol
2:16 reminds me of Underoath
juniorM define the great line
21 grams of weed
They Got Skimped 7 grams...
that's what this songs about !
The lyrics are as if Tim Lambesis wrote the lyrics to this song... It's hard to believe Jake agreed to scream such anti-faith lyrics.

What happened to all the break downs? now its all just guitar solos
0:47
3:07
Crayton Hotchkiss fuck the breakdowns man, but i agree that ABR has the best breakdowns ever composed in metalcore.
Crayton Hotchkiss solos are better anyways
All these are breakdowns, but they also know how to get creative with them.
czcams.com/video/V1_Pspgr9yg/video.html - epic moment
Sounds like he got a Twenty One Gram ounce....i'd be pissed too....
Lol after a 21 zip you take everything hes holding next time
Okay, this one's DEFINITELY anti-religious.
Wow they managed to write a full song? What, no out of place gimmicky hipster interlude awkwardly thrown into the middle? This would have made a good soft song for the album to have had. That one soft song it should have had.
So this must be what devil music is 🔥😈 how can anybody screaming this is the worst music I've ever
Best effort I've heard on the album yet, still mediocre. Far too much repetition, the breakdowns are mediocre at best, there's little of that aggression from Messengers and Constellations left. Not impressive.
Who do you think you are pal?
Internet warrior, literally posted on every single video ive listened to lol
Josh Young and ive replied on every single video. Guy doesnt have one good thing to say about the album and probably has little to no music experience and knowledge of his own. Never seen a more idiotic person in my life. And this is CZcams, its full of morons.
Word
Josh Young I know right! just noticed myself hahah dude needs to get out of moms basement and go do something else.
Previous stuff wasn't as memorable as their stuff in R&R and this new album.
sonofgod031 is your other account shadowsmustfall1?
sonofgod031 Real childish. This is why no one will respect your opinions, kid.
Dope 💕
