Hey . I have a super important qestion: when filn a cinematic video, how you combine all the externals filters togeter ? ypu want in all the video shots all as one to have Nd filter + anamorphic + soften filter and extra.. do you need to choose 1 filter each shot? or what is the way actualy here to combine all filters togeter for the entire B roll cinematic vid? thanks for answer in advance

Great videos! I've been shooting and filming with a Nikon DSLR but have an s22 and only now just realized the s22 has 4k/8k and shoots with a higher bit than my Nikon DSLR. So I'll be playing a bit more with the s22. Would love to see a video on color grading! I switched over to Davinci last year but any color grading tips would be so useful-not many out there on color grading Samsung S's.

Have you ever used a 3rd party app for video-like Filmic, Motion Cam Pro, McPro24ps? I used one of the apps, which seemingly skipped the samsung stock program sharpening, and was amazed at how much better the footage looked without any sharpening, comparing sided by side w the pro-video shots of the same scene.
On my S22 in camera assistant there is an option to soften the picture from off to medium and high. Not sure the difference. Have to experiment.

I have the freewell grip for my s23 ultra which is great, except..when I have it where you have it mounted, my hand is constantly hitting the screen and turning off the camera or activating something else that I don't want! Is there a lock for when you have the camera on so that nothing else will get activated?
Yeah, that could be a pain, for sure. I don't think there's a way to lock the touch screen though, unfortunately.

A new category that might be interesting to see is the digital ND filter Samsung has added to the Expert RAW camera. Since you do have tested/shown how to use real ND filters on smartphone, it would be interesting to see how the digital ND compares.
I heard about that. I haven't got the update for it on mine yet, but I'll be interested to see how it does. Right now they just have that multiple exposure mode in expert raw and it's not that good.

Not with the freewell filters. Not sure if there's any phone specific stuff that will fit the samsung phones that will stack like that. There maybe something out there, I just don't know about it.
Fairwell don't sell the case for the S23+. Any idea how I can attach a filter or lens?
Yeah, it's definitely a bummer that Freewell doesn't have any other Samsung model cases for their system. The only thing I know of might be moment, which has a universal mount for their own lenses and filters, but I haven't tried their new line either, so I couldn't say how they compare.

On my S22 regular phone I've got the best video by turning the stabilization off. It still uses the optical stabilization in semi wide and tele lenses but turns off electronic stabil. Reason I turn it off is because I get less jerks in the video from dropped frames say every 10 seconds or so. Much more stable and predictable movement. I don't use the HDR10 plus either.
Oh nice. Yeah if you were to turn off the regular stabilization and then throw it on a gimbal, that would probably look the best for moving shots.

I waited 2 years to buy s24 ultra . To buy freewell filters I need wait more because they are super costly.
Wish you were an apple phone user and did the same video for them. Some carries over to that platform.
Yeah, I get that sometimes. At least most of this stuff will translate to any camera really. Only the app specific stuff will be a bit different. Also though, Freewell does make all those accessories for iPhones, and the iPhones have some better apps for video.

I've been using Samsung phones for 10 years now, but I'm about to switch to iPhone because it's better geared towards serious videography. Samsung just keeps pulling this unnecessary crap where they don't offer things like log in the native camera app. You can get it in third party apps, but then Samsung restricts third party apps to 30 fps. There's just no reason for it, and the high end Galaxy phones would be serious film making tools if it weren't for this.
Yeah, iPhone definitely has better video. Although, I'll just throw this out there, if that's the only reason you're thinking of switching, and you want to do better video stuff, I'd look into just getting a n Osmo Pocket 3. I just got one and I'm kind of blown away by the video quality, sensor size, form factor, and features of that thing. Way better than my phone, and can surprisingly keep up image-wise with my mirrorless cameras for a lot of things. It's also way cheaper than a new iPhone. I only mention that if you think you still like your Samsung /android for everything else, you know. Just my 2 cents. Nothing wrong with iPhone at all, I've never used one though, lol.

You can check this video I did. I filmed it all with the osmo, shot in d-log and it color grades and matches my R6II footage really well. The only thing is I forgot to change my shutter speed on the slow motion clips, so a couple of them might look a bit rough, but other than that, I think it looks great and I'm personally loving the osmo.

@@BrentHall if the shutter speed is set correctly, does the slow mo work well?
And can you turn off noise reduction on the Osmo? That's another thing you can do in mcpro24fps, which I find makes a huge improvement to image quality (by doing NR in post).
@joshnlevinson yeah, as soon as I fixed the shutter speed, it looked great. And yes, you can turn the NR off.
