I believe it is a metaphor for young men being more subject to being programmed into being soldiers, slaves, martyrs to a cause, etc...it's about indoctrination and convincing man(kind) that he is to be sacrificed for the sake of family, society, government, religion, etc. Women are not expected to go to the front lines, break their backs in indentured servant positions (see: employment) to feed mates and offspring like men traditionally are/were. Due to the male tendency to be more duty-driven to society as a whole than the more family-focused women, if you can get them (men) young they are more likely to never leave a cause and even die for it. Women tend not to be as aggressive, so are little use to tyrants and warmongers. Hence, why Crowley uses "male" here and not "young female" or gender-neutral word use for the "preferred victim.". Crowley spoke a lot in metaphor, allegory, and symbolism. In his work, he often took the role of being society's mirror and put on an acting role of sorts, speaking as if he were one of these kings, priests, politicians, generals, and whatnot. He was a satirist who people took to seriously, so he ran with it. If you take his material literally, then you're going to miss the deeper meaning. I don't care for the guy as a person nor do I buy into his religious nuttery, but as a poet and social commentator, I find him interesting.

I haven't been able to find much about Crowley from people who knew him as friends, as enemies or instructors from 1887 - 1892. I find no photographs or letters or people recalling him at his schools and the impression he made. Anybody know why this is the case?

Was just watching "The OA" last night, and they started talking about how they learned certain "movements" in another dimension during near death experiences, that they could perform like some kind of ritual together when they came back to life, and when they do the movements right they open up a celestial portal or tunnel to another dimension. Resonates heavily with the ritualistic magick and sacred geometry danny incorporates into his drumming.
The OA synchronistically reflects more of Gurdjieff than Thelema. Gurdjieff had a thing called "sacred dances" which were really similar, not to open portals or anything (as that is simply just fantasy) but spiritually related.

I need to read more about Crowley. It appears that much of what is claimed may be filtered through Judeo/Christian beliefs. One of his books is entitled "The Book of Thoth". This can only be in reference to Thoth, a god of ancient Egypt said to have lived in the times of Zen Tepi, who brought them the knowledge of mathematics, alchemy and several other arts and sciences. This is in no way meant to be a slight on any faith or religion, we just tend to ignore the fact that are beliefs that long preceeded those of Christians and Jews and that many of their practices are derived from those earlier civilizations.

I believe it is a metaphor for young men being more subject to being programmed into being soldiers, slaves, martyrs to a cause, etc...it's about indoctrination and convincing man(kind) that he is to be sacrificed for the sake of family, society, government, religion, etc. Women are not expected to go to the front lines, break their backs in indentured servant positions (see: employment) to feed mates and offspring like men traditionally are/were.

Crowley spoke a lot in metaphor, allegory, and symbolism. In his work, he often took the role of being society's mirror and put on an acting role of sorts, speaking as if he were one of these kings, priests, politicians, generals, and whatnot. He was a satirist who people took to seriously, so he ran with it.
If you take his material literally, then you're going to miss the deeper meaning. I don't care for the guy as a person nor do I buy into his religious nuttery, but as a poet and social commentator, I find him interesting.

1887 - 1892. I find no photographs or letters or people recalling him at his schools and the impression he made.

Was just watching "The OA" last night, and they started talking about how they learned certain "movements" in another dimension during near death experiences, that they could perform like some kind of ritual together when they came back to life, and when they do the movements right they open up a celestial portal or tunnel to another dimension. I don't think Bill Hicks admired Crowley, but surprisingly Maynard does, at the same time he admires Bill so much too... and I don't fin similarities between Hicks and Crowley, Hicks wasn't a occultist, he was deeply spiritual and he believed in a kind of god, saying God was love.He wanted peace and a free society out of this system.
