    I genuinely don't like to criticize, but that really did come over as nothing more than an advert for Wera and your tool supplier. (Which is ok if you are upfront about it).

    Looking foreword to the testing vid
    I’ve been mulling over the Wera bag for my test kit .
    I’ve had the wera maintenance kit for a couple of years now they are
    Good quality tools .
    My only concern is leads I like them stored nice and neat
    Not keen on them all stashed in one quiver box .
    Look forward seeing the vid ,and thanks for the effort putting these vids together .

    Having a bit more time on my hands due to the current situation I’ve cleared out my van/workshop. Seeking all the tools I own laid out it was a little scary what I’ve spent over the years on them. I’ve made a conscious decision not to waste so much money. I’ve got quite a bit of Wera stuff, when you add it all up I’ve given up weeks of my life for tools. Time I could of spent with my family.

      james osborne I’ve accumulated tools with a retail value of about £20’000. Assuming I make a profit of £150/day I’ve worked for over 130 days to buy them. How many of them do I really need? Could I have bought cheaper versions of tools I don’t often use?

    • @izalman
      @izalman Před 4 lety

      Agreed.. I was a mechanic on heavy plant and big fork lift trucks, learnt as an apprentice plastic spanners and sockets will let you down so always bought good quality German English or USA spanners / sockets. If i ever struggled on a job, tools to make the job easier / quicker next time were bought, thats why my service van was dragging its arse around most of the time. Moved into service management, tool box (Big red thing with quite a few drawers, good 50+Kg in weight) was bolted to steel bench in shed. Shed was broken into and box nicked 1 night. Reported to to the police and insurers. Insurers asked for an inventory of what was in the box, took me a week going over all the drawers in my mind and eventually settled on the contents list, Priced what I'd collected over the years up to replace - Staggered to learn it was over just shy of £7k..... Insurers went ballistic that an item of this value was outside in a locked shed. Fortunately I had full value coverage on single items up to £7.5k. I'd known it was so much, the box and contents would have been in bed next to me and the wife... As I was 'off the tools' lots of the stuff would never be used again ie 2"- 3/4 drive sockets etc. I settled on a claim value with the loss adjuster after a bit of argy bargy, bought some tools - enough to repair classic cars or similar, rest went on a nice few weeks away in Cornwall with the family.Every black cloud has a silver lining..

      These tools have a higher resale value. Don't forget to figure that in. And another thing, know your value, charge more for your services, don't cheat yourself. Tools show up for work everyday whereas helpers often don't so the quality tools are paramount in my opinion.

I spend an absolute fortune on my own tools, I use them every single day so why not by something you'll get enjoyment from? Would be nice if there was a review from a few years in vs. a few months. Yes there are some scuffs on the cases, but unless you're scrubbing everything clean, all of the tools look like they came straight from their boxes. Wera screwdriver sets and Wera hex key sets I think they are made in the Czech Republic, very good value for the money, the Wera ratchet sets and socket sets are made in Taiwan, no different to any other tools that are made in Taiwan, fact Toptul make excellent spanner sets and socket sets for a fraction of the price and there made in Taiwan as well👍

  • @oyleyhands1332
    @oyleyhands1332 Před 3 lety

    The trouble is with all those sets ,you never use at least 50% of them,certainly on domestic work.
    If you took them on a site..you would lose lots of the.
    If your van got broken into...you would lose the lot.
    How do I know...its happened to me !
    I carry much less now even though I would have more tools than those in total,I for sure would not take them out all the time.
    Open top long tote when on domestic and I can see the tools I need and when I know what I am looking at needing,I put theose tools in the tote.
    Belt pouch/shoulder pouch for 'ready to use tools and a tool vest,Snickers of Hi Viz Helly Hanson if on a site.
    Large Veto Pro XL where there are prying eyes and light fingers...plus I have lockable sliding metal drawers in the back of my vehicle.
    I love my tools and kit but don't take full sets in nice pouches anymore...no way have I ever needed them all.
    Latest try out is a Veto pro tool apron.....great for second fix as you carry the tools you need plus if an electrical job,sockets,switches,roses fixings.
    I mainly work with CCTV and Security alarms and the apron beats the tool pouch any day..unusual outside a worksob but they work,especially when working on ladders.

Example: When you switched of the power and its locked out + confirmed that its off then you dont need a 100 usd insulated screwdriver set to do the job. Yes some tools does make your work easier etc. If you can afford it then buy it but if you cant you can still do your work.
