Joy for All and Near Me Robotic Therapy Cats

- I find it really interesting to see how therapy robots have changed in the past 10-15 years, so here’s a video of Joy for All and Near Me running together. I did most of the filming on International Cat Day, but I’m a few days late with the upload, unfortunately.

the near me has such impressive articulation especially given its age. its noises also sound closer to an actual cat. a lot of effort was put into them and it shows.
One nice thing about these is you don’t have to empty a litter

Maybe it's the implication that they're meant for people who want a pet cat but can't afford them, maybe it's because one is old and the other is new...
I don't know.
For me, it's because I imagine one being given to a lonely elerdy lady in a home

i got joy for all same cat. was amazing. he is next to my TV. he got a light sensor so if i change light or tv change to other Display he give me a "meow" looks like a living cat:)his name is "Wuschel"(german)

I love the tail movement on the Near Me. Sadly, he's very noisey. But the tail movement it's near perfect. 🐱

If it was white rather than cream, you might've owned a Lulu Furreal Friend instead of a Joy for All! Joy for Alls are pretty recent and weren't released in white, but look almost identical to Lulu since they use the same internal framework.

I Need Those Robo Cats, They Look Real!
NearMe Kitty sounds more irritated than relaxed. Joy For All also seems to have a bigger speaker allowing for richer sound. NearMe Kitty also has the lamest purr I’ve ever heard. It’s worse than LULU my Cuddlin’ Kitty. I do have to say though NearMe’s sounds are more authentic than Joy for All which sounds kind of like a human female imitating a cat. To me, they sound kind of sad or wistful or something like they’re saying, “Man, Human. Just let up on the petting and let me go after the bird outside your window.” LOL! Still though, I love my Joy for All Leche.
My Near Me, Totoro, certainly didn't seem in a very good mood during the filming of this video, maybe I was petting her too roughly. Hearing them side by side did make me realize that Hasbro opted for only relaxing and calm meows in Joy for All, when in reality, not all of the sounds that cats make are so relaxing, aha. I think what really differentiates Near Me from Joy for All though is actually that Near Me has quite a bit of mobility. All of the legs have multiple moving joints in them, making it so that Near Me can change poses and move much more realistically, including standing up and stretching. However, all that moving around doesn't make her very comfortable to hold in your lap. Personally, I think that Near Me is the better robot, but Joy for All is the better therapy robot, if that makes any sense.

the hasbro one was originally called lulu my cuddlin kitty and why did people have to steal the design and call it “joy for all”?
Joy for All was designed by the same company that made Lulu My Cuddlin Kitty and has the same basic internal framework, but has a few hardware modifications, different fur and behaves differently. They're not the same robot, but they are similar. I have a video comparing the two if you're curious!

There is no reason why you can't do that 😊

I had the one car that’s laying down when I was little. I had to throw it out because it broke and wouldn’t work. It’s ear fell off and I was super rough on it. I loved it though and did everything with it. Or one like it. I don’t remember what it was called.
I think I'd need therapy after interacting with these. Fluffy robots always creepy me out so much more than uncanny humanoid robots

I just Googled since I heard it's made by Sega, so I searched for "Sega robot cat" and found a Amazon link going for around $442. The hasbro one the cheapest I found was $92 and it's the black and white, I really don't mind the color I just want to see if I can get this for my cat since we live alone and I'm not with her during the day. Anyway hope this helps on your search.

Their random noises completely annoy me. Not even remotely like interacting with a living being that has a purpose to its expressions. These things just make noise.
The mechanic noises are too loud to enjoy. The grey one isn't realistic at all.
One thing to keep in mind is that the microphone on the camera deliberately emphasizes mid-range frequencies (where human voices are), so any noises in that frequency range are going to be overboosted. The motor noises are nowhere near that loud in person.
Considering the fact that it was made and produced in 2004 🤦♂️ of course it’s gonna show signs of wear and tear it’s in fantastic condition and looks great for a model as old as that
