I think I understand the slow deck flip card change at 8:40 I think he catches it with his pinky and pulls it to the bottom of the deck revealing the card he had waiting underneath. I could totally be wrong but that’s the only thing I can come up with

I think you are right on the snap change at the 5 min mark. Its his third finger. If you pay attention there is a bit of a blur with his third finger for a quick split second.

@@dylanpace2083 My guess is he has a double, top card slightly farther out, pushes it into the deck with his pinky when doing the deck flip, bottom card now visible when deck comes back to the top. I seem to be able to do it.

@@jackblackbourn Not camera tricks, but there are editing tricks. Only notice it on one trick where he's You can tell when pausing and going frame by frame. I only saw it for one of the tricks though. Might have just been too fast for the camera to pick it up, but its the only spot I saw a little too much missing info between frames.
For the snaps he is incorporating his pinky back behind the cards. He is putting a lot of strain on it to do that one where he doesn't flip a finger back with the card. I'm going to have to practice that and see how he gets it to work. Pinky supporting the snapped card? Its truly talented regardless.

I agree, inventing new methods and training yourself to do something and master it without a guide or reference is impressive. I'm not a magician. But, I taught myself to do a griffin roll because I have a ring and wanted to learn. I tried to do something over and over and failing because I was physically unable to do it. Eventually I learned to do it and have "mastered" it. Its crazy how we can create new neural pathways and train our bodies to do things. What an awesome video.

A couple of those snaps have a frame missing, but a solid move nonetheless. It can be seen as a very slight jump in the background. I actually don't think of it as cheating because video viewers will stop motion to see how it's done, but the live effect is extremely fine and not discernible. The slight jerking motion of the hand is legit and helps disguise the snap of the third finger and crossing of the card. Very inspiring. Wanting to take my snap up a few notches! Ok, maybe I need to take them up more than a few. Now if I can only figure out how to do it noiselessly with silver dollars...

The moment the card changes, you can see the five of spades between the fingers of his left hand. Also, go back and forth between those two frames and you'll see how his finger position changes. What he's done is flick the 5 into his left hand and then conceal it as he pretends to hold the card with the left hand. All done in one frame. Quite amazing. The fact that he flips it so accurately into his hand shows how much practice he's done.
