  • Well it took a bit of time but I finally set up my model Workbench room. I made everything used the most often as close to me as possible. After going over several ideas in my head I came up with a solution to sprue sorting. Then after a few trips to the container store its all set.

Nice set up, for the super glue try keeping it in the fridge, the cold prevents the glue from hardening.

Mr. Barbatos, That is an awesome set up you have. It reminds me of an operating room where everything is in its proper place. By the way the word is pronounced ( Taaa - Meee - Yhaaa ) I just figured I'd tell you. Great Job my friend. Cheers

I have corrected my pronunciation of Tamiya in my later videos. I'm old enough have been around when Tamiya came to the US. Back then with no internet the hobby shops just called them as you hear me say it. For a large part of my model building life I always heard it pronounced like that. It's the last few years I was corrected by my distributor. I try to pronounce it the right way since then but the old me slips out every now and then

Did you have to do any sealing around your door to the room or basement to keep the thinner smell from going into the house rather than venting through the spray booth? Did you eventually have to add a booster to the vent line or a better window panel for the vent?
Currently trying to troubleshoot my setup so I am not forced to airbrush in the garage only

I know this is pretty old but I haven't seen any of your old stuff so I figured I would go as far back as I could you have a lot of content which is good. Did you say that you work at a Tamiya distributor!? Well that's convenient huh wtf that's like perfect no wonder you have so much hobbie stuff lol sucks for people like my that have to pay for all my stuff and as you know Gundam models is not a cheap hobbie!

I have never understood the need to organize the runners. I see this a lot with Gundam modelers. Is this something specific to those models? What am I missing? I just keep my parts trees in the kit box until I need to get a part.

I'm 55 years old. I started building kits around 1980. My dad thought me. When we started getting Tamiya kits here in the US in the mid 80s we just pronounced it as we thought it was pronounced. Even the hobby shops here in back then called it that way. It wasn't until recently I heard it was pronounced a different way. But I still will say it both ways as old habits die hard I guess. I will do my best going forward with the proper pronunciation

This is an early video of mine, I've since corrected myself. Being 56 years old and into the hobby since a teen, I saw the introduction of Tamiya in the US early on. And being in hobby shops once a week back then I always heard the workers at those stores calling the brand as I say here. I believe they didn't know back then either how to pronounce it. So hearing them called that way by the hobby shops in my early years stuck with me. I even worked for a Tamiya distributor here in New England and they called it like this.
