  • Display replacement on this Samsung galaxy S20 FE will require at least an hour to do everything from start to the end. The screen is broken but the display panels are not we could replace the glass only but that process is more complex and requires more experience.
    The display replacement on this S20fe is simple and you will be require to remove all the components out of the broken screen and frame to transfer all of them into the new framed screen.

    My S20 FE has a minor crack on below the lcd panel of the navigation bar. But the display and touchscreen still work perfectly fine. Is it okay if I just re-install a full screen tempered glass to cover and protect the crack from dirt and moisture?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před rokem +1

      Yes. But you'll still have the Crack glass. You can either replace the whole screen or attempt to remove the glass only and replace it. Doing that is very risky and might damage the screen panels

    @ersbit Did you find that the new replacement screen's fingerprint reader was the same as the OEM reader? Was the new screen reader just as responsive as the old one?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před rokem

      Yes. The screen was good. Everything worked as it it supposed to be. The screen will come with the fingerprint alredy embedded. You just need to make sure that the device is compatible with yours. Us version or International version they are a little bit different because of the 5G antennas.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před měsícem +1

      Hi, the easiest is to disconnect all the flex cables then reconnect them again. Then try to see if the issues goes away that would mean it was just a bad connection on one of the cables.
      If you have the same issue reassemble everything on your old display/frame to see if the issue is now present on the old screen if no issues something is wrong with the new screen.
      Try to plugged everything including the wireless charger then try to charge and turn on (some of the devices have issues when the wireless charging coil is not connected) it has a temp sensor (the motherboard might be reading to charge or turn on) this happend to my S20 Plus and since the S20fe is basically same thing different body it might be a thing on the FE too.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I believe this was lcd screen. 120hz is supported natively but if the screen is not the same spec as original it won't do it. If the screen was pulled from another S20fe it will work and do 120hz. Everything should work fine including the fingerprint sensor.

    Hello, if you could help me out I'd deeply appreciate it, after an unfortunate event my S20 FE got severe water damage and the IP68 couldn't handle it.
    Just after the incident I took the phone back out, spun the phone to try to use centrifugal force to take out the water from the screen part of the phone, dried as much as I could but I didn't have the tools at the time to open it up to dry better so instead I put it in a ziplock bag with a silica gel pack. After 48 hours the screen and the phone itself are working perfectly but I have none touchscreen. Zero. Do you think it's possible to maybe fix this? Try to mess with the digitizer or whatever. Or do you think I need to replace the whole screen? Thank you a lot.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před rokem

      Fixing a none working screen would be difficult unless you find a shop that can check the panel and change a component. I do not know how to start or fix it when the digitizer is bad or not working. The easiest way would be to replace the screen as I did in the video. Water damage it's luck if you dont dry everything or the battery cable is still on for long after the water damage it might cause a problem.

    Where I can get original display

  • @CuriousFunguy
    @CuriousFunguy Před 6 měsíci

    Removing antenna cable with spudger at the connexion site rather than yanking probably makes your hardware happpier. Also I strongly discourage using a hard steel sharp surgical blade to do anything on very delicate board and cables with electric parts at microscopic distances away, that can be knocked off very easily with a little excess force or a slip, which I noticed you employ at several instances. Also the hard steel has a high risk of scratching the coating on the board and parts. Use plastic instead please. Spudgers give you a lever-like shape , they're softer because they're made out of plastic and they give you pointy end.

      Hi hope you figure out the issue. You should remove the screen and reinstall the screen flex cable then try again to see if it start working again. If it does not work reinstall the old screen to see if it works. If it does the new screen might be bad. Just return it and get a new screen.

    Do you have any idea which specific part of the phone I should replace?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před 6 měsíci

      1- was the phone with the old screen working (not black even if the phone was broken)?
      Yes. Screen was working even broken (the new screen might be defective)
      - try checking all the flex cables make sure they are all disconnected and reconnected and fully pressed in then try to turn the phone on with the new screen attach (if still the same black screen then the screen might be bad)
      2- same issue with old screen as new one (stay black) you might have a problem on the motherboard which is one big piece and should be replace or you find a shop that is willing to test the motherboard and find the micro component broken/damage and replace it. It require microsoldering etc...it's advanced stuff.

    I recently upgraded to a sim only plan as i wanted to keep the s20fe and keep monthly cost down. I got a quote of £160 including labour charge from a repair shop. I think it is worth it as i intend to keep the phone for duration of the sim plan which is 24 months. When it comes to upgrading the contract in 24 months time i will have a better choice in smartphone as the technology jump will be greater. But to be honest a lot of friends, relations and work colleagues opt to go purchase a sim only plan and then buy the smartphone outright from a retail outlet as that can work out cheaper in the long run.

      Ok. If there's nothing lighting up on the old screen it's hard to know if it was before or now. You can ask the screen seller to make sure they had tested the unit before sending it to you. Let them know that when connected the screen is not working.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před 2 lety +1

      So the motherboard has been replaced too???
      You need to inspect the flex cables make sure none is bad or have a small cut. At this stage you need to troubleshoot piece by piece and try to thing something thats out of place.
      First the phone does it charge? Vibrate when plugged in? Then after pressing the power button does it turn on? If you turn it in you can try and hdmi to see if the board is working and the fault is only the screen and screen components.
      After replacing things if you are stuck you try elimination process and if you cannot figure out seek help from a repair shop.(Put everything together and let them to their diagnosis). Or you just go directly to them to see what they can find that you didn't.

      @@ersbit first CZcamsr that would actually agree with someone in the comments. Most people always wanna be right. I had 15 years in the repair and unlock business. But I switched over to automotive locksmith. The key business pays more and it's less headache. Keys work or they don't work. A repair tech can only be as good as the parts there using. I got tired of doing warranty work because of AM screens going bad. Also without corning gorilla glass, they break too easily.

Now I gotta pay off my device and get a new one. Damn I love my S20 5g Fe. Its best phone ive ever had and ive had LG flagship phones at double the price! I had the LG G7 Thinq and it sucked ass and was like $950. This S20 was amazing just screen so delicate and even with case and protector I shattered screen the 2nd week I had because my big rig truck phone holder suction came undone and dropped my phone about 3 feet. It lags bad and types like 10x the same letter with 1 press etc and I cant take it anymore!

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  Před 4 měsíci

      True repair on these phones is basically gone since they went all Flat Screens and most of the time doing true repair will take more time than just replacing ( cost more to find a bad diode on a motherboard/ USB-C charging module/ on screen control unit etc....remove it replace it than replacing it.) that's why I did it the way I did it. Plus all the equipment to do true repair is very expensive people will find the video too technical. "😅 this is alredy getting comment that it is hard etc..."
