  • This is my latest video of my 1959 TR3a competing at Loton Park Hillclimb. There is a split screen view, as well as a look at some motorcycle outfits, trikes and sidecars.
On the day a mate pointed out I was faster than a 2022 Lamborghini STO so I have included a couple of official timing screen shots - redacted to protect the identity of the rich.
A massive thunder storm played havoc with the day, coming in just as we were lining up to go out on our first timed run. This caused a delay and meant that we would only get one timed run when it all resumed - and it was still wet and very slippery- see how i got on - and enjoy

actual date 8th July and not June as per the video title !

Mate! Well done! After the easy spin of the tyres in the 'warm up' area, I think I too would have been rather reticent to unleash the full power of that beast, but there were still a couple of points where I was puckering up a bit at your speed going in.....but you knew the corners better than me (and may have been able to see more too!) and they weren't as tight as I thought they were. Your practise runs looked promising for another PB possibility - such a shame that the good old British summer weather turned up. However, I would NOT want to have been on one of those bikes (trikes?) going up there in that! A breed all of their own, them blokes....but a fair bit more than I could handle myself, so I take my hat off to them for taking the term "enthusiast" to way beyond the next level!
....and yes, I could see where you made a couple of boo-boos on the practises and were berating yourself for it. They were still impressive times for practise runs, mate...especially on as cold a day as it looked. As I said, I reckon your eye was in and you were setting up for a stunner. C'est la vie, eh? There's always next time....and it's terrific that all Triumphs got through the runs unscathed in such challenging conditions😊 All the best.

You need a wheelbarrow to carry around those massive balls in sir? I'm blown away by your focus even on that soaking wet road. 🍻

To be honest the start area was terribly slippery but at the top you always feel you could have gone faster !!!! But luckily I was just that bit faster that the others in the class. It was a great morning in the dry but a washout in the afternoon.
      Thanks for your interest 👍

@@HamishRacing since it rains so much in England do you carry another set of wheel/tires specifically for those conditions and do a quick swap when it rolls in?

Some pure racing cars do. But most cars are road going so have to use road legal tyres thus should be able to cope with some wet. In practice we tend to go for the sticky version and fingers crossed for a dry day.

It could be just a lumpy cam as on-throttle pulls well.

@@dickieb2233 you have it spot on it’s got quite an aggressive cam and a very light flywheel so it sounds “off” at lower revs- but picks up very quickly. It’s the fastest 0-64ft Triumph in the championship.
