    Adapters are king.
    Im here in the UK where its mostly butane and isobutane.
    Coleman propane canisters are gold dust and cost twice as much.
    Butane cans for lighters cost peanuts.
    And buying a large tank of butane is basically impossible since the "environmental" directives came in.
    Adapters give you the ability to put your gas into your tools, whatever either form might take.
    Seriously, adapters ARE king.
    Brilliant video as always.

    Another thing. When I was a kid we used a similar heater like this hooked to propane bottles while ice fishing. My father made a small wire grate that he would hook to the front of the parabolic heater side. On this small grill we would heat up left over pizza, hot rolls you name it. One of my fondest memories is ice fishing here in MICHIGAN and eating left overs in our ice shanty. You may want to look into such a diy and make that heater dual use.

    Basically just a tiny camping focused version of larger propane shop heaters like I've seen for years. Honestly a very neat idea. I wonder how it would fare on one of those 1 pound propane bottles as propane generates more BTU's for a given flow rate than butane or even isobutane. On one of your reviews from a few years back I ordered one of those free-standing Lixada stoves (I love that thing) and it came with a butane adapter. Need to pick up a propane adapter as well since I think we have a few of those 1 pound Coleman canisters kicking around somewhere with a camp stove.

  • @SuperPangloss
    @SuperPangloss Před 3 lety +2

    Nice review thanks. Have had the cheaper iso butane canisters fail under super cold conditions. The MSR ones work a bit better, prolly a slightly different formulation of the fuel.

    These come in two versions, one with a built in piezo electric lighter and one without like this one. Great little heater for temporary heat source for power failures without having to pull out my kerosene heaters. I use these with the 8oz $1 n-butane canisters instead of those pricey i-butane camp stove canisters.

    Its easier to tell us what this unit delivers in BTU's. If advertised at 3000-5000 BTU it is clear what you get in a small package. I have seen people using these in a camper truck and a small fan to distribute the radiated heat more evenly. It is a good radiated heat source and if you run this several hours (at least 3) it is worth $4 a can.

    Another Great video. Thanks. Where can I buy one of the stands without the heater? We have just bought a couple of things you have reviewed and the stands I bought are the orange ones that don't work like this black one seems to work and I like the looks and the ease of use of this black one. Do you know where a person can buy just the black stand? I looked on Amazon, and it seems they only sell them with a heater like this one, and I have enough heaters. lol Thanks again for all your great videos.

    Does this produce radiant heat? I have a tiny tractor that only has air cooled motor. Could this be pointed in the direction of the windshield and do anything?
    I dont have high hopes, but it would be an easy way to get a little bit of heat at the window and maybe keep it clear in the wintertime.
    The alternative is going as it is without any heat :-)
