This reminds me of year 7, when I made an oil lamp from clay in art class. It was a bit simpler than this, but actually worked quite well. I must have gotten the idea from some historical picture or biblical illustration or something... Most other kids just made basic pots.

Great video. I use Tabasco bottles and make oil lamps. An 1/8" round cotton wick fits that hole perfectly and I cut the wick about 1.5 to 2 times the depth of the bottle and fill it with lamp oil. It burns about 12 hours per ounce of fuel with about a one inch tall flame.
I also use a small piece of tin foil with a tiny hole in it and pull part of the wick through it to regulate the flame size I want. I like these bottles because they're very tough, and it has a cap that seals it up. The wick doesn't fall into the bottle as long as there's enough in the bottle forcing it back out. That's why I cut them a little longer. Keep up the great work.

Don't stop making videos children. Do your job. Hold your peace. Take your time but NEVER quit. I'm thinking kids are going to be in the future. It is all good. Just keep on, keeping on.

This is a great idea. I've made oil lamps when I was kid and I had forgot all about it.
    Thanks for the reminder.

I have made some lamps since seeing your video with store bought clay(that gets hard on its own) & clay i dad to put in the oven , they both leak... How do you stop the Oil from seeping through the clay?
