1:00 - that instrumental part before Eddie sings "Admire me! Admire my home! " that bridge is so fantastic.
I think this time was when ed's voice was at its peak. He could fucking yell, he could hit those high notes, and he could hit those classic low notes.
It’s not like he wasn’t able to that earlier it’s just that he had time to experience with his singing style.
I'd say he peaked at 94-96. You can say that by his perfect pitched Screams. But he still was absolutely amazing in 1998. Hell he still sounds fantastic

Everything about this song is spot on. Eddies vocal delivery, the lyrics, the guitar riff, the drums, etc. Everything falls into place perfectly with the message this song is conveying.
Even now I never get tired of watching eddie sing. Pearl jam will always be special.

he's pushing the living hell out of his voice, probably distorting his falsetto
it's a fry vocal it's not that high it's just really distorted
Tim Burke but fair warning he isn't really doing it with proper technique so he's really hitting his vocal chords pretty hard. So if you try to copy that style just make sure you do it correctly, cuz he didnt and you can hear how much it has effected his voice.

Can we talk about that not only Eddie's voice and the band is great, but also those lyrics! How it talks about the power of people from upper class; and the country they rule are corrupted and its citizens display a herd behaviour. Something we still encounter today, sadly.

Wow! I've never heard this song live and I wasn't sure how well it could stand up to the studio version since he sings so much higher and louder than most of their other songs, but they all just totally kicked my ass! As much as I've always loved Ten and Five Against One this song is just in an entirely different stratosphere! It's an H bomb explosion!! Or should I say, "IT'S EVOLUTION BABY!"?

On the second ‘admire me, admire my home’ it’s ‘admire my son, admire my clothes’ and then ‘consider this, appetite for a nightly feast’
Eddie’s kind of known for messing up his own lyrics though, or slightly changing them from one performance to the next, so it’s possible your lyrics are totally correct on some other live version.
I remember one show where he started it ‘ I am ahead, I am the man, I’m the first man to shit my pants’. no idea why… but it was pretty funny.
