Hamilton is a smart man, not trusting Vault-Tec.
"All but one toilet is broken" Dear mother of God.
Dammit, it's overflowing **poops in urinal** XP
I think the lake is Lake Whetstone, an artificial lake designed to hold drainage when houses were constructed in the area (and, incidentally, a lake that I grew up half a mile from). That would explain the stuff under the lake: since the lake is artificial, it has a drainage thing in the middle (looks like the roof of a house) that drains water into a small run-off area when the water level gets too high. There's probably some kind of maintenance tunnel for the run-off thing, although I've never actually seen it, and if Hamilton and his friend worked in construction then maybe they had connections to the people who built the real-world lake.
The real world lake's dock next to the island has boats you can rent and you can fish there (if you have a fishing permit). Also, this isn't actually at all related to the content, but it's a fun fact about the lake itself: about 20 years ago a small crocodile-like skull was found. This caused quite a bit of concern about possibly having an invasive species problem, since no similar animals live near Maryland. After forensic analysis, the skull was determined to have belonged to a Caiman. The forensic analysis also determined that the Caiman was probably killed by another reptile based on the teeth marks on it. Locally it became a bit of a Loch Ness story, and to this day you'll probably see floating "logs" that will disappear underwater. Also, although there is a picnic area, I don't recommend bringing a picnic because the geese are aggressive.
Stupid geese **shakes fist** >:l
This is fantastic, thank you for the local insights!
Part of me wants to go collect some fossils and bones, and deposit them in totally inappropriate places, just to make people wonder. I won't, but just saying … one could.
15:35 Cool ghouls don't look at explosions
Not even fazed 😂
I shall dub the Burkittsville Vault, Vault 151. As the population of the town is only 151. Such a small population would make a great experiment if they were several low on food stores and lots of psycho on hand.
FUmarc hi
Only 122 vaults were made, so it being numbered 151 wouldn't make sense.
@@Kurogumo Exactly
@@SILOPshuvambanerjeeexactly
I'll bet the vault filled with cannibals is vault 27. The fallout wiki says that the vault is mentioned but not in any game. The experiment was to put 2000 dwellers with the accommodations for only 1000 people. It would make sense for them to become cannibals. They run out of food very quickly but hey, there's a lot of tasty looking people! Mmmmmmmm!
Initially I read that as "vault filled with cannabis".
Surprised Vault-Tec didn't try that.
Pot smoking cannibals sounds worse, they'll be extra hungry with the munchies.
Cannibals took up residence OUTSIDE of the vault. The dwellers inside weren’t cannibals.
@@jasoncarswell7458 lol I read cannabis too, got to the 2000 dwellers part and thought _holy crap they must have put a whole bunch of weed there if they meant to keep that many people fully cooked_
It would make more sense to randomly select a 1000 dwelers via lottery for execution , or even to be exiled, but hey , iguana bits are deeeelicious
Wow seriously disappointed Bethesda took this gem out!! This is the shit i dreamt about when F3 first came out!!!
Also I'm glad the radiation kept the Hamilton family away from the surface. Scary to think what couldve met the daughter while she was playing
What I wonder is what became of them? Did they relocate? And if they did for what reason? Did they live out their days in there until they finally succumbed to Death's cold grasp but in a peaceful way in their sleep? So many questions..
It's seems obvious what the vault is in canon. It's said it's a military bunker in the note, and the structure houses many beds and a complete armory, including a a mini nuke. It's also much bigger and more elaborate than the normal makeshift bunkers in the fallout games, and there's many inconsistencies between the notes and the actual bunker. It just seems like a military bunker, maybe for the enclave. A few parts of the cave are caved in and destroyed, so we cant be really sure how big it's other parts were. So far it just seems like a lot of beds, an armory, generators, and a room the raiders took. My guess is a bunker that was going to be used like the bunkers in hidden valley, but wasnt used or was used centuries ago.
I haven’t played 3 in a while, but I’m pretty sure you will get the key if you accept Three Dog’s quest, find Rivet City and talk to Dr Li to find dad, but still go ahead and install the satellite dish. When you go back to Three Dog he gives you the key as thanks for following through, even though you didn’t need to.
That's how it went for me too.
Old world blues was awesome Ox thanks
You sound like Dipper Pines if he grew up and started playing Fallout
This is the perfect location, for a mirelurk den
Whenever oxhorn finds a teddy bear and mentions the little Marie I think it's adorable.
Which quest is it with the teddys and "Little Mary"?
@@jus7040it’s a dlc called “the pit”
Oxhorn when are you going to teach us how to play caravan
P.S. I love your videos i come back every day to wacht your videos
Sky Awsome would like to know too
Sky Awsome he did, I believe he showed us how to play in the powder gangers part 1 where a man shows you how to play
P5 Hero he said he would master the game and teach us how to play in a separate video if we really wanted to
Sky Awsome
Yes!
He won't to game starting mechanics or locations. There was no story of Springvale, Megaton or Vault 111.
I really miss the intro for Old World Blues, such a great series you did. Thank you for the great videos Ox!
I wish the key's attainability wasn't so conditional (missed it in my own two playthroughs), but it adds value to the weapons cache for being so rarely explored. Looking forward to Point Lookout coverage, by the way.
If I'm honest, I see cut-content as canon but not put into the game for whatever reason (minus the cut weapons that are obtainable in Fallout 3 by glitching (i.e the Beta Tesla Cannon (Broken Steel) and the Smoke Grenades (Operation: Anchorage) I see them as non-canon). I mean the ideas are there and they have written them in with plausability to the overall lore of Fallout, but for whatever reason couldn't implement them.
P.S, Oxhorn I'm almost disappointed that you didn't talk about the Smoke Grenades in some way when you covered Operation: Anchorage but I do completely understand. I mean they are just off the U.S Army Field Headquarters but out of bounds, so you'll have to do a bit of fiddling around. They are completely usable just ultimately useless
TheHolyHobnob I've never gotten them, do they cause smoke?
Lord Potato Not really, they function exactly the same as a standard Frag Grenade but are much weaker.
The Beta Tesla Cannon on the other hand is actually a pretty funky weapon, its basically a Missle Launcher that fires Tesla Bolts like the final Tesla Cannon but uses Missles as ammo with all the sounds of the standard Missle Launcher. Its a bit weaker than a standard Launcher and the final Tesla Cannon but it's still a pretty nifty weapon to have
True, technically that terminal, furnace, etc. can be considered trapped under a collapsed area. Maybe even the generator they talked about was a third one from the two you can see, a more compact one. I guess since nothing is backing it up or refuting said lore it can be considered both canon and non-canon. A Shrodinger's cat but with lore of sorts :P
Little late for a response, but the cut content in the Fallout Wikia is considered "not confirmed by canon sources", so it might be canon or not depending if it is mentioned in the game.
I think it's safe to say that any artesian well made before that lake bed dried up has long since dried up as well
Please do more fallout 1 and 2 lore. Especially the glow!!
Can you imagine going through all that emotional effort to write a good heartrending story like this and Hodd Toward cuts it out of the game?
Hey man love your videos. That burkettsville vault was also cut content from fo3. The cannibals weren't the vault dwellers apparently they just set up camp out the front. I think there are signs somewhere in the game that the cannibals would've used
Fun fact Oxhorn, the Burkittsville vault or just the Burkittsville area mentioned In the cut terminal entries is actually a minor reference to the location of the Blair witch project where it's set in the town if Burkkitsville! As a fan of the movie I was pretty surprised to see it referenced here. Keep up the good work
Looks like a perfect spot for a mirelurk den
The funny thing is, i just started re-playing fallout 3, and when i came across hamiltons hideaway i was wondering what it was. and now my prayers have been answered!
Thank you for doing these lores! Could you maybe do one on the minefield town near megaton??? The whole town is just a confusion. I walk in get blown up and shot at by a sniping old scavenger with a specific name. May be interesting to look into.
i think this terminal was most likely made early in develoupment and after they had done more world biulding it was a bit contridictory, and so it was cut to keep to the new setting they had done for the fallout universe.
who was the dork who left a dislike? what is there even to dislike? oxhorn always does a good job.
Had to sit out the videos for Old World Blues due to spoilers for my run of New Vegas but it is so good to watch your content again!
Thanks for this. Out of all the times I meant to actually explore this place, I’ve always forgotten and rushed through
"...young enough to want to play in the snow."
You're never too young for that, Oxhorn, and you know it. XD
For some reason, I never questioned that place. I should really think more about this sort of thing.
Honestly, I feel the terminal entry tells a competitively heartwarming story of kinship and human compassion, despite the horrors of the war. As gruesome as the last bit is, it's almost uplifting, in comparison to everything else. Probably why it was cut.
I got to say, I've loved the fallout series since my father I introduced me to the first one, and I never got around to exploring every location. I'm glad you do videos like this and just listening to you talk about them as I go about replaying New Vegas or even Fallout 4 is a real treat
HE"S MAD!!!! oh wait
SCIENCE!!!
Vivisect me, please.
I do so love custard....o-or was it mustard?
I'LL tell YOU who's MAD! My ARCH NEMESIS during the halcyon days of AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL! *deeply inhales* RICHIE MARCUS!!
In a hole in the wall, there lived a Wastelander... @4:43
I can't wait to see you tell the story of the Keller Family.
this was pretty informative of me as i had no idea that there was an ammo cache in there and that you were able to open it. bang on video as always, ox!
Ahhh fallout the best rpg series well to me
One of my favorite pieces of fallout 3 lore! Thanks for the Fallout 3 upload Oxhorn
In my game I went to GNR and took the quest then went to rivet city and even went on to find the players father but then i completed three dogs quest even though I no longer had any obligation to do so considering I was black mailed into it. Three dog was impressed by that and rewarded me with the key. (its been awhile sorry if I'm remembering wrong)
Heads up, you can pass a speech check to get Three Dog to tell you about your dad, then do the quest for the weapons cache.
I love watching your videos because anytime I need a pick me up or I'm bored I can always turn to them so thank you and keep up the good work
I was always curious. Thanks for exploring this for us.
The town in Maryland referenced is what was formerly blair aka the blair witch
You actually DON'T have to go to Rivet City and meet Li before going to GNR, even if you want that key. While you're talking to Three Dog about your dad, there's a speech check to try and convince him to give you the info, in exchange for you getting your dad to help with the good fight. If you pass this speech check, you can then go ahead and do the satellite dish quest in exchange for the key.
Additionally, the Vault dwellers being cannibals was just you misinterpreting the log entry. It was very clearly meant to say that there were Raiders camped near the Vault entrance and ambushing people who tried to enter.
Thank you for your video mate! I really appreciate the effort you put into making these videos!
i love that you always use charon in your fo3 vids lol. he's probably my favorite companion in all the games.
Thank you!
That place drove me nuts!
Spent days trying to find a hidden entrance to that place.
Was trying to figure it out before you made a video of it.
Haven't even met ThreeDog (Dad doesn't want me to follow him, so I'm not )
Love your content, great job as always :)
Ave,true to Oxhorn!
*bends the knee*
There sits the only CZcamsr I mean to bend my knee to!
Since thou hast sought to make CZcams great again!
scanning Oxhorns video list *almost* makes you wish for a smaller list
Not a Joker
Agreed, Oxhorn is better than all the Brotherhood Scribes combined. Ad Victorian!
Stardust Comet no need to set the bar so low. Oxhorn can clear any heights.
I want to like it so much but it has 69 likes and I can't ruin that
Three dog also gives you key when you find the dish for him to get information on your dad.
The greatest dramatic presentation ever
I loved that place when i was little. I could never find anything out about it, but i think that's the first radscorpion encounter i found. Scared me pretty good. Ive put over 2 thousand hours into Fallout 3 and New Vegas so I've pretty much explored it all! haha
If you dont got the key you can still get *some* of the loot inside, throw a couple grenades towards the back( by standing right next to the cell inbetween the bars) and keep throwing till enough of the gear gets to you, I personally needed about 5 or so grenades to get most the gear but it could be done with less
I managed to get the key from Three Dog before going to Rivet City. You just have to pass a speech check and repeat some dialogue.
For the next DLC series you should do Mothership Zeta
Yeaaaah but he did the Pitt between 2 of them.
Broken Steel is next, he's doing them in order of release, alternating between Fallout 3 and NV. Mothership Zeta will be last...
Every time I go on your channel you have what i need to look at thank you lol
I love your show Oxhorn!
No one does justice to fallout lore quite like you!
Even though this is an old video, just found this place in my playthrough and I think combined with the skeleton outside of the hideaway: the skeleton with the teddy bear at the dried up dock might've been the kid who wanted to play in the snow
I enjoy you trying to get into the train cars as i did my first time playing. Keep up the good work Ox, I've enjoyed your lore videos. Also if you can get windows 7 the fallout trilogy disk will work on that, its how i have it. You said you had problems with fallout 2, it seems to work for me with this set up.
I beg of you
Make intros to all dlcs
(Even dead money and Anchorage)
Operation: Anchorage was 1 episode, there's no need for an intro because there aren't any other parts of the series to connect it to.
TIE Fighter He already did both these dlc months ago.
I know, just wanna see what he'll make
hey oxhorn thanks for your hard work in this videos
high quality my man you are the best for lore videos
Maybe it's a pre war mine? Hamilton was a bandit or a miner and all those beds were for the miners to sleep and which explain the bathrooms and walkways and generators too.
In all my years of playing I've never even seen that alcove with the gate, let alone gotten the key for it :O
Hey Oxhorn, make sure to keep making videos as they are all great ! 👍🏻
Couldn't the entry about the unnumbered vault also be about proto-raiders ambushing people outside a vault and the people in the vault being too scared to open it? Maybe I misheard but that also makes sense to me.
That's the way I understood too. The raiders outside the vault were cannibals and they would set up an ambush for people who were refused into the vault.
Dunno if someone mentioned this already Ox, but IIRC, you do get the key from three-dog too if you don't visit Rivet City first, al you gotta do is to pass his speech check about your dad, and away you go with that part, and then you can talk to him right after, he will still ask for help and will give you the key if you finish his little dish retrieval quest.
i don't play around with quest mods, so i'm pretty confident that i had not a mod that changes this mechanic of mine in any way.
diamond city?
J. T. Carmichael sorry my brain is shot today. I meant Rivet City. Will fix it now.
While building up sancuary, I found a celler behind one of the buildings near the big tree in fo4. Its probably insignificant, but I really felt accomplished so if there is anything "interesting" about this cellar I think it would be cool to see a video on it.
you can also get the key from three dog if your speech is high enough and you convince him to just tell you where your dad went. he then proceeds to offer you the key in exchange for getting the dish for the monument.
Ayyye Oxy, that's your 1,111th video !
It's been so long and your road's still long, congrats !
You can also get the key from Three Dog if you pass the speech check and convince him to tell you where your dad is without doing the museum run, and then do the museum run for him anyways.
you can also pass a speech check to get the info from three-dog then do the dish thing to get the key.
Ox's Fallout 3 is so beautiful. i'm playing on an X Box 360. It's rough to go back and play.
I so do love custard or was it mustard
With how big these games are and how many different people work on them, I wouldn't be surprised if they just tried to change something in the plot but got distracted with something else and forgot to add it later on. Or maybe they just had to cut it short and decided to leave a bunch of things out of the game for time's shake. Great video!
Fallout overhaul kit adds this to a terminal in Bob Anderstein's drainage chamber.
I hate you Oxhorn...found you a week ago and cant stop watching you and your amazing videos....man....i have stuff to do!
Great vid as usual!
Stephen M.: The term for oxhorn dependence is called being “oxhorny”.
The Burkittsville vault dwellers aren’t cannibals, they refuse to open up. It’s clear that there are raiders preying on anyone coming there looking for help
That's actually how I understood it too. The way I figure Frank went up to the vault, they didn't let him in, cannibal raiders would set up an ambush for people who were refused entrance to the vault (which in that case was Frank) and he managed to escape.
Oh. I've went to this place maybe some time last year. It didn't seem like much to me. Except being
creeped out before going in
for some reason.
Your moded FO3 looks great.
man hamilton's hideaway got more intersting
I do love the idea that Hamiltons vault stood in fairly good shape over so many years but I do suspect with so many rooms and so many bunk beds that this was a military bunker, but not a vault tech one, maybe built a few years before vault tech started building them by the army Corp of engineers themselves, it has a very low cost feel to it and that would be how they would have built it, at low cost because of low tech but perfectly servicable and to last. The reason for the cave collapses is the lack of water, without the higher water table subsidence would have occurred making the caves unstable, what has survived is supported by concrete and beams, it could be that the filled in rooms had less support due to them being naturally stable at the time.
Am I the only one that though of Hamilton the musical?
Benjamin Luu I was kinda hoping people would fill the comment section with a fuck ton of shitty puns
Benjamin Luu noice profile pic
gamer guy same
Benjamin Luu same!
Benjamin Luu no I was expecting Hamilton memes, I just went and saw it so it’s stuck in my head
Three Dog gives you the key, if you go to him before finding out where James is, then go to Doctor Li. If you complete his quest, he'll still want to give you soemthing. That something, is the key.
I do this many times when I replay Fallout 3
Hi ox your fallout 4 videos are probably the best on the internet
Going to Rivet City before GNR isn't the only way to get the key. If you pass a speech check with Three Dog, he tells you where your father went withour you having to get the dish. He will then give you the key in exchange for finding the dish.
I LOVE watching your videos. Always reminds me to look at the details and see what was going on in areas.
I still talk to Three Dog and get the mission to retrieve the dish for him, I just don't turn it in until I've gone to Rivet City (usually on behalf of Bryan Wilkes). As long as you talk to Dr. Li before turning in the dish to Three Dog, he'll give you the key.
I've found the hideaway before, but never knew about the key. Maybe the inconsistencies of the terminal is because one developer worked on the interior of the cave and another one did the terminal entry, and because it was cut, it was never corrected? Or even the hideout was left empty because it was cut and a developer rushed filling it so that the entire hideout wouldn't be cut so that Three-Dog would have some reward for doing his quest if you skipped him during the main quest.
Burkittsville was the setting of the movie "The Blair Witch Project". I wonder if Bethesda planned on putting a Blair Witch themed vault there and either ran out of time or decided against it. But the cannibals wearing human skins seems very Blair Witch to me.
Oxhorn, if you convince threedog to tell you where James went without retrieving the dish he will offer an alternate reward, I believe it's the same key in question
Hey Ox, could you do a video on what the economy must have been like pre-war leading up to the bombs dropping? In fallout 4 there are signs of coolant being $100 a gallon which seems extremely high.
You never get too old to want to play in the snow. :)
Straight out of the vault I always go grab the sniper rifle in the rock and run immediately to Dad. Then I pretty much have free reign to do whatever I want
Look at this old, rusted boat that was made out of really sturdy materials... but luckily, this thin cardboard container of cereal is perfectly fine!
I'd be fine with 3 Dog not giving you the key the first time if he had another quest to give you for the key.
I think Maggie and Robin died in the "vault". And Hamilton was the skeleton we saw on the docks. Like he went out and just wanted for the radiation to get him
I like the terminals as an explanation.
Side note to three dog quest you can pass speach check to get the information about your father and then still do his mission and then get the key the stash
to quote Three Dog about this video "well HO-LY SHIT!" i did not know that Three Dog had that cache key, i wonder if the devs of A Tale of Two Wastelands knew about this one? i'll have to find out sometime.
You can get a dialogue option to appear to get a key when you first meet threedog
i hope oxhorn goes straight into lonesome road next week. that will be my favorite dlc.
Love the fallout vids ox keep it up man!
