Everyone talking about his pass, his game management is just as good the way he barks and manages those forwards bloody amazing!!!!
Don’t forget the way he plays in the public toilet too. Absolutely amazing.
@@TCBumby disabled toilet !!!
@@TCBumby hahaha
@@TCBumby Always have to have a sook keen to tarnish. Ssmh..!!
One of the best 9s out there. His passing game is incredible.
FAF de Klerk 2nd I think
@@Junior-vq7dv no, Dupont
@@vicvicking1990 faf is better than Dupont lmao
@@thezelflo3175 get some glasses, or maybe your blind
He's the best ever
bro he has to be the goat of passing
I'm biased as a kiwi, but i think he is the greatest passer i have seen. It helps to be behind a good pack of forwards though
He’s good for sure , Joost VD Westhuizen is the greatest passer ever seen. Now in terms of All Blacks.... sure, Smith is probably the best.
@@robsparrow George Gregan: hold my beer
@@robsparrow ive seen joost play about 20 times ,mostly against the all blacks , he was a fine player and a great competitor but his pass was nearly as accurate and fast as smiths, dificult to compare eras as it is, gareth edwards was arguably the greatest 9 ever, but passing a learher ball in the wet makes it impossible to compare with 9s playing today
Greatest passer ever, no question. Will Genia is a close second. Purely on passing ability.
Definitely the best passer of all the 9s. His running game is underrated though. You can understand with what has always been stood outside him and the attacking weapons the ABs possess why he doesn't run as much as he should. I think the next best all round 9 put there is Faf De Klerk. Pass not as quick but range of pass is outstanding, possibly the better of all 9s for his box kick, defensively is very strong and reads the game well. Connor Murray is the same.
Im a springbok supporter but i honestly think aaron smith is one of, if not the greatest scrumhalf of all time. Hes a rugby genius. I would say gregan and fourie du preez are a close 2nd as well.
fourie is my goat from a kiwi. just bloody unbelieveable, he's like carter. great at everything, sniping, tactical kicking, high ball, defense, passing and crispy dissecting. i wouldn't say gregan, id have smith, gareth, jdw and fourie over him. but fourie, the impact he made each game was just unbloody real
@@toiletsmithy3630 Fourie du preez is one of a kind for sure !!
@@spreezyt9567 definitely a legend
Most underrated player. I hope he got a world rugby award he deserves it.
Aaron Smith at 32 is at his best which is amazing. I would go as far as to that he should win the rugby player of 2020
GOAT 9. Don't even ask. How insulting.
I rekon he has now got there as the best abs 9 ever. Such crisp passing skills and the longevity as the world's best see him top the list.
His pass accuracy is crazy. Always hits the receiver on the chest
Best half back in the world atm. Possibly ever. Criminal the way he’s been overlooked by world rugby
He is the best ive seen. Has been for many years now. How many halfbacks get to 100games for the allblacks.
Managers his forwards well and his intensity is never questioned.a massive part of all blacks success .
Feilding yellows yeah
Feilding hard
As an Aussie, you have to tip your hat for Aaron Smith. What a gun of a player he is, although he’s caused a lot of heartaches for myself and my beloved wallabies lol
😂😂he has but tbf there was an oz half that smith is very similar to and has broken many an abs heart is say he was one of the top 3 if not the best
Smith had some great battles with Genia bro, when Smith first came out Genia was the premier hb and I loved the way he played he got a few wins over him too during there battles but when Smith started peaking just before that 2015 RWC simply irresistible, his speed at the ruck to get to the ball out faster then anyone else and that lightning pass second to none just made our All Blacks attack so potent over the years imo he is the most important piece in the All Blacks setup without Smith they lose helluva lot....
Much like Gregan messing with us.
Gregan will always be number one but Smith definitely 2nd though
Honourable mention to the great Ken Catchpole.
Definitely the best 9 ever to grace the game
Gareth Edwards!
George Gregan
Playmaker, little General; always where the ball is and great moments of individual brilliance - when he delivers a ball it is straight to the bread basket everytime. And you can hear him laughing with delight all through the game. One of the greatest fly-half's NZ ever had.
fly half?
@@Waywind420 something like a wing three quarter!? 😂
His defence is equally as good. He's a machine rugby player. The Goat
Faf
His defense is not good
World's best scrumhalf by a country mile
DuPont is gonna be
Dupont man. 2023 .
Already beaten by Faf de Klerk and soon DuPont is gonna be the greatest but nevertheless, probably the greatest scrum half who played in the ab jersey. He’s a talent for sure.
Out played Faf in 2019 World cup game.
@@Shibum458 use are dreamers smith is 10x better then him and any scrum half
no real doubt in my mind. I go back to some scrum halves who were great players, and could do wonders with an indifferent talent around them ( a few South Africans, an Irishman and the ABs Sid Going among them), and others who dominated with their skills and ability to drive a game (a couple of Aussies come to mind) but when the scrum is doing its job, and class backs waiting a chance outside him, Smith has more options and skills than any of them. So many 10's have flourished outside him, and so many packs have risen to his call and been rewarded. Inside the red zone he is without equal.
Wtf tis is smoking hot on point...i need weeds now🔥
@@jamesholmes9932 you sure you haven't had them already.
Best pass i've seen from a halfback which is the bread and butter of the position. Extremely consistent and rarely has an off game. His attack is good, has sharp footwork close to the line and he plays above his size, but players like, Marshall, Perenara, Sid Going to name a few had better attacking/running games. But based on consistently being at the top and doing everything asked of him in an All Black jersey whilst winning a world cup. He scrapes in to the top in my books.
No doubt about him being the best, especially after the bunch of halfback/loosie hybrids we had for years in Marshall, Kelleher and Cowan. Smith has the skills that enable a game that more people want to watch.
He sure is!
Just pure class
What a pass... Superb Sid Going, love him, still magnificent, but Aaron just eternally great.
He is sublime 💪🏾😎👌🏾
Team Fiji 🇫🇯 says 💯! 🔥🔥🔥
I think he's the best ever halfback
The way he controls the game is what makes him world class
Best passer definitely
In AB, yes. But not ever. Joost VD Westhuizen is probably the best ever. Then Faf.
Indeed
@@robsparrow rubbish
@@robsparrow faf?
@@robsparrow Faf 😂😂😂😂
Hard to compare generations and say best ever, as a lot depends on quality of ball, quality of backs, quality of opposition etc. etc. There have been numerous greats in that position I have seen in my lifetime, like Gareth Edwards, Joost, Gregan to name a few, but I would say he is the best No 9 of the last decade. A quality player indeed. And I am English by the way.
His bullet passes is what got me!
The most consistent halfback
was suprised he was never talked of as being in contention to be captain
Great halfback.
Not sure he's my favourite All Black halfback but he's been among the best in the world for such a long time he probably has been the best All Black halfback.
AUSTRALIA. WATCHING. THE BEST. HALF. BACK. IN. THE. WORLD. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome player, with great awareness of the game!
Possesses the cleanest pass i have ever seen in my life because his scrumhalf bio mechanics is just absolutely outstanding.
underrated
He sets up so many tries
Playmaker!
The best 9 out there
DuPont and Faf are both better right now. I’d say he’s 3rd best.
hes the best.
The best 9 on the planet💯👌
The poor man's faf
@@Br0kensaint1 faf has no passing game. aaron smith does it all bud
@@toiletsmithy3630 no passing game ? So how is the ball moved from the 130 odd plus rucks ? Is there maybe magical hobbits that comes out to assist poor old faf seeing that he was born without any hands? What a moronic statement. Give credit when it's due mate. The best halfback hands down, especially compared to the previous halfbacks the ABs had
Jimmy cowan ?
@@ripiaripiasuju3589 cowan wasnt even the best in the all blacks squad at the time LOL! no way you compare him to smith. smith took the starting job off of cowan for the landers
@@ripiaripiasuju3589 Jimmy was average imo, had a good boot on him but his passes weren't very reliable.
Piri 😁
@@solkimmyjones exactly. Only got job over piri due to piri's weight problems. Piri could play 9 and then and had that mixture to add to his game
Greatest NZ #9 in the pro era for sure
Aaron Smith and Mike Phillips are the two most underrated scrum halves I’ve seen play
Could you be Welsh? Just a wild guess!
I'm Welsh an mike was a flanker playing 9 drove me crazy for years smith is a true 9
If you know rugby you wouldn't not rate Mike Phillips or Smith, their best attributes is how competitive they both are and what they do for the team.
@@anthonycarter7783 Mike Phillips would walk into the Grand Slam team from 2019
Second to none. Best in the world.
Smith 🖤🖤🖤
Lol why is there even a question mark in the title GOAT9
For sure 💯 % 💪
His pass is good but it's how fast he gets to the break down and his game management is world class
Superb No 9. Personally, I always like Justin Marshall.
Marshall was a wonderful player, but smiths pass is much faster because he positions his feet before he pucks the ball up, marshall would pick it up, have a look, take a step, then pass it
Yes a dominant half always barking never takes his eyes off the road driving his firward pack around the park ... the fundamentals in his game are top notch but that's to be expected with his game management as well which forces the guy behind him who ever wants his jersey that' the standard or better
#1 job of a half back is to clear the ball accurately, swiftly and decisively and Nuggie does just that.
Once in a generation player who won’t be replaced easily.
He’s the best!!
Definitely new zealands best ever and I would say a shoe in for top 3 of all time. Along with Gregan and Joost
YES!
Marshall was my favourite kiwi 9....some of my older buddies talk about Sid Going but I never saw him play.
Sid was a wonderful player but a shocking passer, watch the highlights of the greatest try ever barbarian v all black match 72. I dont think he hit the 10 once lol

All time greatest
NZ greatest passer... still didn't get into the team of the decade... fark uz world rugby

Definitely best in the world
Smith was almost always running an offside line to gain advantage
yes....Aaron Smith is the Best AB scrumhalf! could be best ever period. reminds me of me back in the day...hahahahahaha
Yeah he's pretty good
I don't knew what is scrum-half in Rugby, but I see same guy in 5 clips and realize that whatever he did is called scrum-half
Scrum half is the player who gets the ball from the forwards (at a ruck or a scrum) and passes it to the backs. It’s a super important position because they decide who to pass the ball to, and so they control a lot of the tactics and strategy. They’re usually the smallest player in the team, and they need to be quick runners and even quicker thinkers. Making instant decisions to pass, kick or run is what makes a great scrum half
Aaron "Nugget" Smith. Diminutive.
NZ’s Greatest Scrum Halves:
1. A. Smith
2. D. Kirk
3. J. Marshall
4. P. Weepu
5. T.J Perenara
Sid Going has to be in the mix surely
@@paulveenings6861 horrible passer

The World’s best scrum half
Great but he needs to include wingers
The Worlds greatest scrum half
has an amazing bullet pass. only problem is his max speed, we're the same height with those stubby 5'7 legs lol
Lol big problem an his defence he gets slaughtered on d
Peoples player of 2020 ;-)
Those "no look" passes or does he have eyes on the back of his head?
They are easier than they look, you just check ur options then look at something else and put the ball into the space the passing option should've moved into
@@funny_monkey yeah they're always an option but look at Sam Cane in sbw try even he didn't know what was happening 😂😂
Easier than they look? Haha
@@funny_monkey it's only easy if you got teammates who can read your play like the back of their hands. Apply his style of play to a team that's not well bonded and you'll have chaos. So ultimately it's not as easy as it looks 🤷🏾♀️
