Mr Keillor is a national treasure - a world treasure of English Letters. I am not American but he speaks and writes with such colour and precision, it is impossible not to relate to his brilliance. One of his many skills is to present the minutiae of sharply-observed, flawed lives with deep concern and respect. His affection for the characters he both imagines and describes makes them fascinating. A wonderful storyteller and a man of unusual charm and sweetness.

The one and only Garrison Keillor. His says he has no ideas for the fall season, but he always comes up with great ideas. I've saved his Lake Wobegon monologues for years, always enjoyed listening to them, as well as the funny skits and Prairie Home Companion every week. Lived for "Guy Noir," "Lives of the Cowboys," and one skit, "The Story of Bob: an Artist," always broke me up with laughter.

What do children of liberal parents do? This child at age 20/21 purchased a 2 month bus pass, a backpack and hiking boots and bused and backpacked across the northern states. Each state had a story and one of my favorites is when I was marooned in Ely, Minnesota. I had cashed my last $50 bank check and left $40 hidden in the closet at the Duluth YMCA. The fine residents of Ely provided this Connecticut Yankee a place to stay overnight and fed me. When I bused back to Duluth the $40s cash was waiting for me in a white envelope at the Y's front desk. If and when I finish this story and maybe publish on Kindle it would be titled 'The kindness of Strangers' and 'The Good People of Minnesota.' Every time I listen to Garrison's stories the fond memories of Ely flood back. By the way that was 40 years age, you do the math. Have a nice day and follow your bliss.

His characters are so real they have to have come from his real-life observations of humanity.

Cant let this stand Joseph Suglia - Garrison Keillor is loved for his wit and art by millions of people. He has entertained America for over 30 years. I don't know why you are bitter, perhaps you are disappointed in yourself and your life's achievements, clearly something is wrong in your outlook.

Why on earth would Joseph and ofcoursecali hang around on a site featuring Garrison Keilor when apparently they aren't fans? Oh, right... it's because you aren't fans. So sorry for all you're missing...
