To do this, it will require the Targeting Control Systems Perk, and an enemy ship. You may require a pilot's license for some of the better ships.

This was one of the ways I farmed cash and not use console commands. I didn't want to use them as like what fun is that. You cut through all the b.s. that most channels load their videos up with so thanks it's appreciated
One very important info missed out, if your weapons are too strong you will destroy the ship however if you lower the power if the weapon your shooting with and target the engine you will damage the engine but not destroy the ship in the process i hope this helps people bcuz no one mentions it.
I'm still struggling to destroy the engines before the ship is destroyed even with lasers only on 1 block filled ..what am I doing wrong here

My favorite way of stealing a ship is just to do some exploring on different planets or moons and wait for one of many random ships to land nearby. Sneak on-board, whack its crew, and voila. The ship is still in pristine condition 😁
I just did that moments ago while I was on Luna's surface! Made a beeline for an ecliptic ship that landed, slipped aboard, and took out the crew after take off. It was wild!
Oh, yeah, I had to sell off the extra stuff that was transferred aboard my original ship, lol.
I did this but I couldn't get into the pilot seat, I am assuming it was a class of ship that I could not fly. The ship was a Freestar Mule.
@@Ninjapikkles Same thing happened to me just yesterday. Took over a ship, didn't know how to fly it 😅 Either that, or it's one of those ships that are permanently grounded.
@@Ninjapikkles Yeah, best you can do with those other ships is loot the cargo, search every box, container, etc. If you find contraband, be careful...

Keep a ship in sight until u get locking on up to 100%. Then press X. (Console) A display of the ships' vital parts appears ( shield, engines, weapons etc) and you also zoom in automatically at the same time. Use the left stick (left or right) to select the engine from the display that popped up. Your weapons will now aim at the engines until they are disabled. If the ship is heavily armed, maybe select shield first and take that out, then weapons then engine. Normally, just do engines. Once they disables u can hold x to dock the ship and take out any enimies. Once they are dead, you can sit in the pilot chair to steal it. Note that if your weapons are too strong, you will destroy their ship, so lower the strength of your weapons if needed. Happy hunting 🫡

I doing it all the time, you not have come back to ship technician to make sheep yours or to equip again with your old ship. When you seated in new ship chair push menu button and make this ship primary ship, then go out menu and undock both ships, but before you fly new ship you will see your old ship flying away from you, then dock again to your old ship, enter old ship and make old one primary again , then new ship will landed in your garage ready for sell or whateva and you will fly with your best ship to find another fight and another trophy.
Fwiw once you disable the shields target the engines with EM weapons....no need to target them manually. EM weapons will disable the engines without physically damaging them.
The "Finalship part" was important to know...
I was attacked by the Bounty Hunters from the Wanted Perk, and it was possible for me to Board both Ships.
(As long the second is still aggressiv, not afterwards)

I get that it would break the game economy, but it seems like it would make more sense to just make boarding a ship and taking out it’s crew MUCH harder. Then you would have a high risk/high reward system instead of a game economy that doesn’t make sense but is required for balance. I’m gonna need a mod to fix thjs 😂
I don’t know why it doesn’t work for me, the option to dock enemy ship has never showed up for me. Maybe my game is bugged. I’ve 50 hours in too lol
Does anyone know if you can take parts from 1 ship and put them on another? IE: Take the cargo hold from a stolen ship and put it on my home ship?

As far as I can tell weapon mods and ship parts only exist on the weapons and ships they’re equipped to once replaced they go away

Oy, important thing missing: from when the ship is in my list of ships? When I sit in the cockpit? Can I just take over a ship and then exit to get back to my ship? or every time I take over a ship I need to land it at a port switch back to my ship and go from there?
Also additional notes for early game. There are some events you can steal the ship from, like "landing pad" on a planet surface. You need to be boarding it the same, and you have a very short window. From my testing, if you kill everyone you cannot enter the ship. If you rush the bay and then enter the ship, you can take over even if it's on the ground. You cannot take over friendly ships from what I gathered. I tried shooting the friendly captain and I got access denied on the pilot seat. I found a neutral UC ship, shoot it's engines with targeting, I boarded and there was 1 guy there, a friendly captain. The ship controls were "access denied" even after I was killing the captain. - So far I couldn't find a friendly ship I can take over.
Also some other info that belongs here is that when you switch ships your cargo also transfers over, even if the new ships cargo is not big enough, if you just thrown stuff out in the storage that will be put into the ship cargo even if it overloads it significantly. My current ship has 800 mass over the capacity in the cargo. I need to test still what happens if you have more than 1 ship with crap thrown all around. and if it adds that to the cargo every time from all the ships..
Also there was an event yesterday about an abandoned pirate controlled landing pad I've already seen this twice first time I thought that I let a free ship go but yesterday I found another one and it turns out they don't have the ship there, it comes, lands, and moves out. in an outside landing pad event you can take these ships, but not during the landing pad event. I rushed in, went into the cargo bay, and it was "inaccessible". I've loaded back and tried a few things but it was always like that. And as soon as you left the bay it was flying away. So those events you cannot take over the ships.
ive only boarded 1 ship in aa fight so far. I had "killed" it. Everything inside was just floating around inside (including 3 dead spacers)
So if attacking friendly ships puts a bounty on you, does that mean if you join the Crimson Fleet you get bountys for attacking them? And no longer get bountys for attacking other factions? How does that all work?
This is exciting because i enjoy modifiing stuff and ill just uograde them all and swap them out every now and then
I commandeered a ship but I didn't want to make it my new home ship (was worried about losing my cargo and all the other stuff I had on board, weapon racks etc)
How do I make the commandeered ship mine without landing and making it my home ship?
Once you board the ships, what happens to the ship you were previously on? do you lose it? or does it get automaticlly sent back to the ships you own, and you can access it at any time?

QUESTION: I did something similar, got in a grounded ship but it took off with me in it. I killed everyone then tried to land it again to get back to MY ship but once I landed it said this was now my home ship. Any idea how to get back to your original ship?
Visit dock tech and go to switch ships, and then make whatever ship you want your home ship-the video also says this.
I have a question. I just have no interest in having more than one ship. So other than acquiring a collection, is there any other point to this? I've docked a few ships, (none of which even had any enemies on them) got some piddly throwaway loot and then boarded back onto MY ship with pretty much nothing to show for it. Is it like, if you don't want to just outright steal the ship then don't bother? What's even worse is that after returning to the piloting part, the ship I had just docked seem to replenish it's shields and continued attacking me. Like, boarding it actually made my situation worse because it was almost dead and then after I got back from docking it it seemed like it had healed or something. Honestly thinking I'm just gonna' straight up destroy every ship...

I recomend making the ship you hijack your home ship and after that just press start and enter ship menu to register. You will save a lot of creds..
When I target and shoot engines, by using either energy or ballistic weapon, the ship gets destroyed faster than engines become disabled. Do I have to use some kind of weapon for that, or I need to use weapon that deals little hull damage?

So I've been testing this after having the same issue and I realized 2 things. 1. The ship your attacking has to be above a certain level to not be destroyed before its engines (I notice around lvl10+ ships I don't have that issue) and 2. Make sure they are at fresh full health when you start to target their engines and literally use every weapon from missiles to ballistics to laser all as fast as you can while making sure to stay only on the engine and if your lock breaks get right back on it as soon as possible before it starts to regen itself. Now that I know those 2 things it works like a charm everytime. A good way to go about it your first time is to save right before you fight so you can try again if you fail. Also remember that if there is more than 1 enemy you can't board the ship until its the last one anyways so in that case kill all but one enemy and on the last one make sure you didn't start shooting him until your ready to take out his engines and dock.

This is sht, there has to be a bug man, I sat there for an hour targeting and shooting the crap out of their engines, I even let their energy fill back up like 10 times before they blew up. Their Engines were still completely fine. Is there a bug?

Its so funny that you can murder people and steal their ship but then you can't fly it because you dont have a license lmao. Also didnt realize you would have to register the ship, kind of makes stealing it pointless.
The funniest part is that cost of a ship less than one gun.

Ok ..im targeting the engines and ahooting the engines with lasers but the ship is destroyed way before the engines are low on health what is it im doing wrong?
I have wanted as a trait. Bounty hunters landed their ship. I took them all out but couldn't claim their ship as mine.
I had not yet been to constellation so not sure if that was restricting me or not 🙁
stole a Vaar ship that landed next to me when they wantred to be hostile.. got a lot of laser rifles, and an epic Maelstorm that i now want to modify... but damn the skill tree sometimes, as i'm also goign down the tech tree for ship systems to make dogfights easier. ( and cause i'm a bounty hunter kinda guy, meaning tech and combat is going to be my split, but i also need more outpposts to gather materials, to do more research GRRRR)
Wanted to get the warlock ship but i was told this ship was rendered inoperable. Does this only work for generic ships and not ones from quests? Or am i doing something wrong

@@flirineltd6921 not 100% bro but I THINK the ship is a B or C class, you might have to increase your piloting skill from the tech tree. You'll have to invest quite a bit into the tree tho.
I captured an Ecliptic Bayonet ship that was landed on a planet, just walked in the door and shot everyone. But registering and selling would only get me about 2,500 credits.
Just happened yesterday to me and was able to sell for way more however in selling menu it would show that i would get 1,5k but when i sold it i got more 10k plus max to 15k cant remember the exact sum
What happens to the ship you were just flying before taking over the new one? Does it auto-pilot somewhere?

What weapon type should i use to damage engines but not the hull? because i'm always destroying enemy ship before engines :/
Use low dmg EM weapon on your ship, does little dmg to ship HP. It helps with disabling engines.
i think i'm doing something wrong as the ship i got isn't registering to me as its a class a ship
the fact that they make you pay to register a ship means there is someone in this universe who probably fakes registrations and now I am going to go on a mission to find that person

I didnt need this video i was gathering materials, mostly platinum and i stumbled on a big ship with only 6 enemies on it ( 2 guarding the entrance) was easy to steal it 👌

I'm having a small problem can sombody help? Whenever I destroy a ship and grav jump to lets say Alpha centauri or mars or any system I find UC battleships engaging me. Multiple ships are converging and even if i die i respawn exactly there and get killed there. Even if i gravjump to another system its still happening
That means your wanted or have a bounty on you by one faction or another..if it's UC I'm guessing it's them..there's many ways you can clear the bounty as kiosk machines around different places including New Atlantis as well as Cydonia on Mars
You have a bounty on you most likely. You have to let them arrest you then pay the fine.

@@right2knowpodcast the problem was I could not approach a single planet. I just reach there and lvl 30 ships start ganking me. I think you're right about the faction thing. I was doing the deep cover side quest when I attacked a merchant ship i guess
Not the most profitable considering the cost of ships overall even after depreciation. It's registration that is extremely pricey. You would think registration would represent less than 5% of the value of a ship instead of 90% of the ships value. I've sold looted guns for considerably more but most merchants just don't have the bank account to buy 10% of what I sell them. Good for new parts at least

They will still shoot as long as your in their view so its best to come up from behind them and you have to make sure there's no other enemies engaging you or it won't let you dock and you also have to make sure their engine is fully destroyed not just fully depleted

Same. No worthwhile loot either. Then the ship I've docked replenishes it's strength after I return to MY ship. I must be missing something, I must be. Because I do not see the point other than having a bunch of different ships, and I just don't see how that's actually a benefit to me.
How to know which planet is hostile
I DONT UNDERSTAND : I ALWAYS TAKE THE SHIELD DOWN AND THEN THE ENGINE AND BOOM, NO MORE SHIP TO ABORD! 😢This game sucks soo much! Some time there is 2 bar left on the engine and the ship explode!

I’m so stealing a big ship and making it mine to drive
So I'm new in the game and my first Lodge bulletin board job was to survey Pluto. I did... was running around grabbing resources like the new I am and saw a ship. Nobody was around, I I walked in thinking I'd swipe the med packs always at the entrance. Still nobody.
So I went in and was looking at their crap cargo when the bloody thing took off! Damn if upon entering the bridge, there weren't 3 Equinox guys. (???). They died in a tragic hail of gunfire.
I headed back to the surface and when I landed, the game tells me it's now my home ship.
I don't want it. Doesn't seem as cool as the Frontier.
Did all my inventory transfer? Anyone in e know? (I couldn't tell because the ship seemed to have inventory of its own.

Too bad this is extremely inconsistent and if you really want a new ship, this is not the way to go. Chances are the engine wont break before the ship just runs out of health, and if it does, the game is picky in letting you actually dock some ships. If you really want new ships, you'd rather land on planets and wait for other ships to touch down. But those typically are very low quality ships, which can be sold for like 7k credits? Yeah. Taking ships isnt a viable option. You're better better off just upgrading the frontier.
