My dad coached me through situations like this. He always said never start a fight or walk away from one unless you really have to. Basic rule for putting down a bully was to feign weakness then attack to the nose. He also assured me that I wouldn't win every fight but if the bullies knew I would fight before I would back down that would go to my advantage. He was wise by experience.

This scene could be mistaken as reacher acting tough until you realize he's act being really smart by complying and then making it known to the officers that he was choosing to go along with the standard procedures even though he was wrongfully arrested.
Actually, the zip ties are a fairly easy to break almost anyone can do it, you don’t have to be big and strong. You just have to know how to bring your arms close to your body straight back and easy pop right off.

He did punch the bully and the other one went crying to the back of the bus. He never bullied anyone after that, my son was cool and did not over react. When I was a kid I was bullied and the only support I received was: You must have done him wrong for him to bully you, just don't talk to him! I didn't want to do the same to my kid.

Not trying to take anything from T.C., but he's just not big enough to fit the bill, T.C. is a great actor, he just doesn't make Reacher believable because of his size. Reacher has about 150lbs. On Cruise.

I love Reacher. The show is great. The cast is great together. And if I got the chance to climb Reacher like an oak tree, it would be a slow, enjoyable climb 😉.

I was in 3rd grade. There was a bully who beat me up a few times on the way home walking a few blocks. I told my dad about it. He quoted Teddy Roosevelt who said "walk softly and carry a big stick". Next day on the way to school I found a big stick and left it where I could grab it. On the way home I grabbed it and the bully came along and I beat the heck out of him with the stick. He ran away crying and never bothered me again.
It would have been way cooler if he said nothing at all but still broke them. Good tip to know is almost anyone can break those if you use the right technique by pulling your arms back as hard as you can with elbows out. You want a such tension as possible and it might take multiple attempts and it will dig into your skin but obviously better than staying tied up. Not everyone's going to look even half as cool as reacher doing it so don't give up
my old man never said the word bully to me. the way i grew up it was simple if someone starts a fight, do what you gotta do to end it and i'll have you back no matter what. he instilled a "defend yourself" and don't take bullshit from anyone. naturally i was the one who got in trouble cuz i would win... never started a fight in my life. but always got in trouble.
If you ever have zip ties on your hands like that and cant break them. Put your knee between your wrists and force it up, it will give you better leverage, might hurt a bit but definitely better than any situation you might be in
