I had the exact same model/color, owned it for a couple years in mid '00s. The wipers were vacuum-operated, and didn't work. I enjoyed the ride, but I like the earlier model with those vertical headlights. Very sharp!
I had a 390 Ambassador that did 13 in the 1/4 mile! It was a pre production prototype. It had options that AMC never offered. Power seats, Door locks. And Loads of chrome under the hood! It'd list everything but there's to much.
Hi Kenneth. You are correct. Some 1970 Ambassadors did have a full taillight treatment, however others did not. The grille design incorporated into the headlights will identify this as a 1970 model. The owner also identified this car as a 1970 model. Thank you for your comment.
My high school music teacher had a ‘70 ambassador. Beautiful dark blue with matching vinyl top and interior. It put any Cadillac to shame. Super nice!

The 1970 AMC Ambassadors had a full rear taillight treatment. This car appears to be a 1971 or 72.
