Supermarket prices are off the scale. No idea why there is no competition . In Dublin I pay 2 lev for 500ml Greek yogurt; 4.50 lev for 2 litres of milk ; jam about 2.50 lev; 8 slices of mature cheddar is 3 lev . Same olive oil costs me just under 6lev. Those supermarkets as on video would be out of business and closed permanently if they tried those prices in Ireland
Most of these items can be found cheaper in the UK (not all, of course). If anything, the prices have become even more expensive since this vid was made. Brits looking to resettle in Bulgaria hoping to have a much lower cost of living are in for a nasty surprise. This may have been the case in 2019 but it's not really so now.
@@purokujunior4720 True, rents and even the buying of a property is much cheaper in Bulgaria. What I was pointing out though was that many day to day costs like food and energy were not that much different to the UK and, surprisingly often, actually more expensive.
@@georgemcnally4473 Yeah, but if you want to live a peaceful life, you can get cheap cocktails, beer, etc. near the beach, and pay 500 euro for the rent.
Must be a Central/East European thing.. As far as I understood, Marmelade is made from the skin of citrus fruits whereas jam is made from the fruit of other fruits. But it's not important..) Thanks for the video.

If you want the local cheeses, you better go to the local markets (pazar) ;-)

It would be interesting if Jim could compare these supermarket prices to the local market.
The rent is MUCH cheaper. Like, half or even less, and the climate is much better for old people for example.
