Biggest win of his career on one of the biggest stages. The raw emotions at the end showed how much it meant to him. One of the ATP matches of the season.
One for the ages. What a match!
Beste. I love Sinner and was rooting for him but Altmaier you are superb, keep going man
Thank you Giorgi I will.
Sincerely
D. Altmaier
The one handed backhand..It is disappearing, but sometimes some player, somewhere, destroys the opponent thanks to this wonderful shot..Good job Daniel!!
Wow, that was hard work. Congratulation Daniel! 🇩🇪
Congratulation daniel? aAHAHAHAAHAHaHAAHAHahaHA
Congrats to his LUCKY!!!!!
@@4ftwney177Altmeier just too good for Sinner😊
@@4ftwney177 look, you can be a bad loser. But I would not show off with that...
Can't remember a commentator having so much fun
Exactly lol
The best commentary in years
Altmaier played so well. I loved how he was controlling the field with his backhand mostly. The best was the end, seeing him cry and seeing how he really wants it and is surprised by himself🔥
Wow I never saw Sinner throw his racket before....
what a match!!!! hats off to both players!!!!
Look at the emotion from Altmaier, he realHI I'M JOHN MCENROE
High-level match. An absolute credit to both players. A couple of slightly safe smashes from Sinner at critical times will hurt for a while. The one on match point in the fourth from which Altmaier then got a net-cord … and later at 5-6 in the deciding set when Sinner had an opportunity to break back. Fabulous match. Pity there could only be one winner.
Best match I have seen in tiiiiimeee. congrats Altmaier!
Was in that court today and the energy is amazing. Rewatching the highlights confirms how good a match this was.
I was there and wow what a match!! But also a crazy atmosphere throughout the whole match and a very well deserved 2 minute long standing ovation. Absolutely brilliant play from both!
this was jaw-dropping incredible
Extraordinary match. You can hear even the commentators can’t sit still. Good highlights.
My goodness, what a match! Best match in the tournament so far. Altmaier has one of the greatest one handed backhands in the game!
Sadly, there are not many left, so it's not such a huge deal.
Pure tennis joy and beauty! Bravo
Altmaiers Game was the pure Passion of Fighting. Fighting for every point everywhere every time.
Wow i love Altmeier but never expected that. This guy has such a beautiful playing style. Love watching!
You know it’s gonna be a legendary match when the summary is over 8 mins straight!
Altmaier's defence is like nothing I've ever seen before! Moonballs, slices, lobs, the balls just kept coming back to Sinner
Great match! Good to see the emotion from Altmaier, showing how even the pros suffer from doubt.
03:01 and that is why THIS game was so special. What a win for this handsome german.
Unbelievable match wow
Epic match
Wow, unbelieveable match! Thanks for the vedio!
You were priceless Daniel, mental giant, one of the best game so far, Sinner was great but happy for Daniel, winning this game meant so much to him congratulations 🎉
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Both of them great players...
Absolute scorcher of a match. Both players gave it their all.
Wow, thats something to learn from! 💪💪💪
Oh my gosh, what a match, both guys are incredible
Que partidazo 👏👏👏👏! La emoción de Daniel al final del partido lo dice todo,me alegro por él... increíble lucha... enhorabuena a los dos por el espectáculo ofrecido!
Simply amazing match, a sense of real tennis in a long time! I cannot believe Sinner lost, but Altmaier really has some of the most stunning backhands in last decade, reminds me of Kuerten! His forehand needs some work though..
Absolutely amazing. What a match. Many congratulations to Almaier.
Bravo Altmaier 👍🏻 well played.
It's unbelievable what kind of tennis the current players are playing. Absolute commitment, hardness and precision of strokes. Extremely tough competition. They're both great.
Huge congrats
I love this player! Absolutly combative and mentally strong.
wooooooaah! Insane! Both so great, wish we don't see Altmaier with his backhand more often on the biggest arenas!
Just insane...
Wow! Great highlights! What an intense match!
What...a...match....no words für that....wow...
Such a crazy Match! 😲
What a match!!! Altmaier has an incredible defense!
03:02 you have to be lucky in this life. This single point make the Altmaier comeback possible. He deserves the victory.
Partially luck, but also partially excellent defensive skills. A servebot is very unlikely to win that point.
@@jameswalker6864 yeah,that too
That is correct but his defense was from another world
But all other points not be luck
true, Sinner played a safe smash-down the middle- (the same on breakpoint at 5-6 deciding set. They will hunt him for a long time)
What. A. Frickin' MATCH!
Fantastic, întrece orice imaginație, cinste lor!
THAT's how you play a one handed backhand. great shot choice, knew exactly when to slice, when to push it high into the corner and when to let it rip. Great stuff
Absolute milestone of this tournament history.
Coloso #altmaier
Sinner doesn’t have a plan B
If he can’t hit through an opponent he has a tough match
Use some slice!
Change the pace
Do something
Makes it better to watch also
He’s a robot
you must be an ATP top 100 level coach no? Must be making millions of US$ in the tennis game no? Then maybe, just maybe, contemplate the possibility you don't know what you are talking about. Have been playing for 20 years, was trained by top coaches and still I learn new things about this game. FYI Sinner played a varied game, you have to on RG clay (the slowest in the world), but faced a defensive player who gave very little and left his guts on the court. 5 1/2 hours of play. Altmeier is a tough opponent, should rank higher, can serve 220km and has consistency on both wings and that one handed backhand generates a lot of spin which is good for clay (see Wawrinka, Tsitsipas, Gasquet). Played his A game today, no doubt.
@@cristianconstantinescu7264 When I see him play I see a baseline power game
When played find a solution to that
And so far many have
He will have a tough time
He never slices even though it can be an incredible weapon
@@cristianconstantinescu7264 So I guess is you who is an ATP top 100 level coach making millions of US$ in the tennis.
Oh Jaa!!Top Fight!
Incredible showdown at rhe end...
absolute legendary match, just blow my mind :oooo
Phenomenal match! Wp both players
Altmaier backhand ,winners , beautiful shot to see over the high point of the net.
Sensation! Germany is proud!
Bravo!
Amazing
Strange hug at the end.
First time that I have seen Altmaier play - technique and movement looks like a top 20 player. But tennis at this level is a mental game first of all. I hope this victory helps him to reach his full potential.
2:49 : 2 insane shots from altmaier there, a little lucky but also great touch and athleticism. Great match, one for the history books
What did I even just watch 😱 What a match. Gutted for Sinner
Long live BO5 matches.
Altmaier left everything on the court. Stehend k.o. What a fight.
This match is why tennis is played on gravel!! Congrats to both of them! Fantastic match
Best match of the tournament so far !!! Altmaier's backhands were out of this world. Sinner is such a gifted player and realistically should have been able to close the lid on this one but he just wasn't able to deal the killer blow in the clutch moments, too many unforced errors in the crucial moments and played a game that is still one-dimensional right now in which there doesn't seem to be any particular game plan apart from bashing the ball as hard as he can from left to right.
Altmaier surprisingly for a one handed backhander, managed to deal with that pressure and the heavy blows brilliantly, by matching Sinner's depth and counter punching with those amazing one-handers. He was also the superior athlete on the court, moved incredibly well whereas Sinner was dragging his feet on the clay towards the end. I really admired his attitude on court, he showed great positive body language throughout the game, and kept the intensity up and playing aggressive right until the very end. Huge Congrats Daniel !!
As an Italian and a Sinner supporter I'd like to congratulate Altmaier first. He played wonderfully and deserved the win 👏 Then, I'd like to thank Jannik for another great match. He'll learn for this too. Keep going! 🎾🇮🇹
Фантастическая игра...жаль что она не закончилась на тай брейке по ходу его все ждали!))
Sinner needs to to mix his play up more, in my humble opinion
He looks really tough to play against. The high balls, great defence and counter punching. The way he went cross, line, cross , line with the one hander was very impressive
7:15min is the commentator German or...?
End of the match: Altmaier hug while Sinner be like 😳
I noticed exactly those two things also!! 😂
who wouldn`t support the underdog 😉
Did you see the volley? I'm not a german but my reaction was the same.
No, just celebrating the thrill of a perfect shot.
What a sad way to loose for Sinner. He had plenty of chances to break in set 2 and to finish the match in set 4.
When Altmaier won his first round very clear, which wasn't expected from the German Eurosport Experts at all, and that was nearly all they said about him in german tv, and just a day before the match they gave a small report about single handed backhand, not mentioning Altmaier at all, I got a holy anger, so to speak, and wished with all my heart, that Altmaier would somehow blow their minds. which he did yesterday very nicely, all my respects to him. 💗
already match of the year
Commentator losing it at 7:16 brings me life!
Well deserved altmaier👏👏🇮🇹
Sinner lost the match at 7:52. Very unlike him to not put away that overhead.
He could've lost even winning that point. He had already lost 2 tie-breaks in this match.
On that point he made a bad decision taking that drive volley! Instead of letting that ball bounce for an easy overhead.. but easy to judge from the 🛋 😅
Dude look at the timer. 5:24, I'd be having a nap on the baseline if I'd been playing that long.
what about the overhead at mathpoint Sinner 4th set? czcams.com/video/UzKts1SaDkc/video.html
yeah, that's a double mistake at 7:52. If he lets bounce one of those two balls before hitting the smash, the point is won.
Next round Altmaier vs Dimitrov >> one-handed backhand masterclass.
Epic match. Super cool to watch. I reckon Sinner is still a LONG way off a slam win, or even being a contender. Needs to work a lot on his match play. Such a one-dimensional player. But he's an absolute beast on hard courts.
He can make a surprise in Wimbledon. He was the closest to beat Djokovic last year. I think clay is his worst surface.
Bin gekommen. Danke Daniel 😘
Cerró el partido con un ACE? 😂 que crack!
My favourite players from the draw were Alcaraz and Djokovic but hands down I think this was the best match in the men's singles tournament.
Просто турнир космос!! Столько матчей в 5 сетов, не удивлюсь если алькарас с джоко до финала не дойдут))
Man Sinner really needs better net game or more drops. He literally gets caught in the rhythm against all players who grind well. Just smashing the living daylights out of the balls won't win you matches for two straight weeks at the top level
Sinner est un joueur fabuleux et complet, mais souvent trop " gentil" il doit juste apprendre à devenir " un tueur", sinon il se condamne tout seul à jouer les seconds rôles.
YES, THIS
There is always an old guy who drives the young guns crazy with them moonballs. Congrats Daniel.
Altmaier is 24.......
Love Sinner but Altmaier was so good. Just wish Sinner added some dimensionality to his game. The commentator was right, he needed to change it up. Throw in some slices, hit some drop shots etc. He wasnt going to 'power' Altmaier out in this game and on a clay court.
4th set took 93 minutes 🔥💪🏻👍
Tstisipas would kill for this guy's BH
Tsisipas backhand is so unpredictable and never as strong as Daniel's
@@faith2899 That's why they call him Skanksipas. Altamaier's is good - mainly only on clay though.
I'm not sure he would kill for Daniel's backhand. Judging from his interviews, he seems to be quite happy with his backhand. A part of his problem seems to be that he's a bit deluded. (I guess that's why he still refuses to make coaching changes.)
This was an absolute treat to watch , but it has got to be said both need to learn how to finish off points quicker. It hurts your stamina further down the tournament
for some reason, sinner is usually involved in many epic matches
Sorry ? Ahhahahahaha
Sinner is n 1 right now
Jetzt, mit Alberto Mancini (Idol) , den richtigen Trainer an der Saite. Glückwunsch.
Even now dont suppose how Altmaier with his level and technique outplayed Sinner.
Because it’s clay. Sinner’s firepower is not so overwhelming on the surface and he doesn’t really fancy grinding.
matchpoint for Sinner 03:00..omg
Now that's how you put together some highlights. RG should be ashamed of theirs.
Now go on and wine some more Daniel
7:15 Has the commentator got a bet on? lmao
In tennis ain't nothing more beautiful and at same time deadlier than the one handed backhand. I wish sinner had that skill in his arsenal
Changing from 2 to 1-handed backhand? Do not think this is an arsenal - question.....
@@CooCaa-ru7mp you didn't understand. I Wish he had that skill since day one, not saying that he has to change now from 2 Hands to One hand
@@iAmJoshC Ok. One handed is difficult to learn, guess that is why it is dying out.
As great as Sinner is, Altmaier played a lot like Federer today imho!
