  • Phil talks with Mehdi Slaoui Andaloussi, Ramakrishnan Raman and Scott Durow about the Power Apps Creator Kit. This is a set of Code Components and Canvas Components that you can use in your app. This team has created some of their favorite controls using Fluent UI, the same controls used in Microsoft 365 and Custom Pages. They show how you can explore these controls, theme them and how they can make your apps perform better and more accessible too. The Creator Kit is open source, so you can learn from these controls and contribute to them too!

    That bit where you tell them to act like they're excited to be doing this for the 5th time is sooo hilarious!

    This is great, but how do you change font size and font family? I don't see these options for any component.

    Can you bind these controls to the Model Driven App grids?
    It'd have been nice to use some test data to run this locally. When I run the DetailList control locally, it displays an empty list.

      The Creator kit is currently targeted for Canvas App & Custom Pages.

    Question about dependencies: imagine I can’t control that a target environment has the creatorkit solution deployed.
    What do I need to do to my unmanaged solution before exporting as managed to avoid the dependency problem? Just “add existing” from the solution browser and choose the components I use ?
    What about solution segmentation? Is that something relevant here..still did non completely understood the concept of segmentation tbh..
    Thank you

      Yes. correct. I would just "add existing" components individually to your unmanaged solution.

    Can I build Desktop-based apps with this or is this for mobile only?

    Hi Team, can we use this kit for my existing model driven app instead if Canvas app?

    • @ramakrishnan24689
      @ramakrishnan24689 Před rokem

      You can use the kit in Custom page and include it in Model driven app.

    Creator kit has a dependency on dataverse legacy connector. Since dataverse legacy is getting depreciated soon, what would be the impact?

    • @ramakrishnan24689
      @ramakrishnan24689 Před rokem

      Components in Creator kit are independent, i.e. it does not depend on any connectors(including Dataverse legacy connector). Hence there is no impact.

    Hey, why did you build custom components with fluent ui instead of changing/extending the native canvas controls?
    Will native controls adapt fluent ui? The bultin controls are far from being pretty…

    • @mehdislaouiandaloussi7033
      @mehdislaouiandaloussi7033 Před 2 lety +1

      The native canvas controls (e.g buttons, dropdown, calendar) are all going move to fluent ui based controls within Canvas....In fact, it's already the case with custom pages actually. In canvas template available with the kit, we made those controls available to you to use in your canvas app.

      Ok did not know about fluent ui in custom pages. Thank you. Looking forward to fluent ui in native canvas app beides D4T and Custom pages

    So, an important thing that has not be touched is the licensing. Can this be used with standard license? Or does everyone needs again a premium license? This is a huge factor because in our company we usually try to develop applications with standard connectors because the target audience is very huge and it would be too expensive to give everyone a license.

    • @ramakrishnan24689
      @ramakrishnan24689 Před 2 lety +1

      Creator kit explicitly does not require any licensing as such and it purely depends whether the canvas app is using connectors which requires premium licensing. With that being said, Creator kit is provided as part of solution framework, so, it is expected that the environment where it is to be imported need to have a database attached to it.

      @@ramakrishnan24689 thanks for the quick reply, so if a canvas app is only using Sharepoint as a connector the Creator Kit would not turn the app into a premium app? But to open/ use the reference app one would need a premium license right?

    Dear Phil,
    At minute 3:39 the video shows the code. Can you please show or explain how you can actually transfer this code to a Power App?

    • @mehdislaouiandaloussi7033
      @mehdislaouiandaloussi7033 Před 2 lety +1

      Hello, the code is actually Power Fx formulas ...We show properties and associated formulas. To configure your component once you drop it into you app, you can simply copy the formula corresponding to the property. E.g Items property will have an example of Table with the correct schema to use.
