Honestly if I was the foreigner I would’ve pulled out google translate
the world is filled with smartphones, sadly still has stupid people
Exactly, same I am Deaf I always write on note and show it to worker. It alway work.
Same, and why do they make it difficult, not everyone knows English.
On a lot of these reality shows, they ask the foreigners not to speak korean if they know it....I don't know why.
Lil Ladi sameee
It's okay if you're just take out complementary ingredient, but asking the chef to change the main ingredient is considered rude
Not only that they should at least had studied some Korean language
Exactly.
@@tapalitapali5440 personally I'd learn a few, basic words just to make my life easier but if you'll only stay in korea for a few days its not really necessary and not at all rude.
Jha0601 It’s not rude but it’s stupid. English is a universal Language but you seriously can’t naively think that everyone and their mother would know English.
I don't think they asked to change it tho. They asked for "no shrimp" one. They probably didn't know that the shrimp is actually the main ingredient, and cannot be taken out as it will only leave the bread 😅 thankfully, the Chef can quickly handled the situation and proposed to change the ingredient instead.
why would they even order shrimp bread without shrimp... luckily the head chef is so nice.
Because they didn´t know exactly what menbosha is. 😄
but thats like me telling you i sell curry and rice and you say no curry just rice
@@JK-rh6wf I think they probably thought there are more ingredients than just toast and shrimp 😅
Maybe those 2 virls have allergies to it..
@@mina6817 if youre allergic to peanuts, do you order peanut butter and toast no peanut butter? no, you order something entirely different
The 2nd batch of foreign customer specially the one who doesn't like the shrimp shouldn't ordered that dish haha. Thanks to the chef he is good at improvising.
Now they can add something new to the menu for picky customers at least. I want to try both so bad.
i know absolutely dumb... Shrimp toast without Shrimp like what? like asking for Fried Chicken without the Chicken?!
@@dncdragon 'fried pork' LMAO
It’s like ordering cheeseburger without cheese. 🤦🏻♀️.
They probably didn’t know it was the main ingredient.
The chef explained that it was fried bread with SHRIMP ball which literally means the main ingredient is shrimp and they still wanted it taken out. That’s like asking for a MINT chocolate chip ice cream without the MINT.
He's so cute he helps and translates and speaks to the foreign customers as best as he can always patient and is there to help such an amazing employee!
It was nice of the chef improvising on the spot. He didnt have to, or I wouldnt. Foreigners can be a little demanding at times no lie.
Nah a lot and it’s annoying lol. I hate being a food server 😂
@@linlinpooh7677 then why you do this job 💀
It's an etiquette to order what's already on the menu. I got annoyed with the lady demanding to change half of it. It's not easy to adjust a dish on the spot.
Thats why..😂
but they didn't know that membosha was only shrimp, so you can't blame them
It was probably a joke for the tv show, the producers probably told them to say that.
She wasn’t DEMANDING anything. She asked, and the chef said yes. Y’all are acting like she spit on the entire culture and threatened to kill the chef or smth. All she asked was to get rid of shrimp and some seafood my god
I'm going to guess by their accent they're Filipinos.
Edit: Whoa 1k likes.... Did not expect to have this much likes... amazing, thanks a bunch! 💪❤️
yoshiPotats yup they are filipino alright haha
Ping! Right... they're Filipinos talking English!
lol
Yah
In Singapore every pinoy , Indonesian , thai, even Indian know English . Haiz ..... even some old people know. Nothing surprise us. Even Indian also know
How you gonna ask a dish without the main part of it... just ask something else, hate it when people do that
Regina I find that so rude I can’t imagine ever having the balls to do that. Smh.
They probably didn't understand that that's what it was
EXACTLY! Its like asking for pasta without noodles like wtf
@@rebeccapak4535 they definitely don't know it's a shrimp base recipe base on the name since they are not koreans ..so they ask for alternative might be because they allergic to it or they just don't like to eat it but they were interested with the dish ..
@@oh_emm278 If you are trying to give the benefit of the doubt, let's just say they were allergic, I have friends who are allergic to nuts and they don't ask the chef to change the whole dish to fit their needs. They just try to avoid it. And say they don't like to eat it, why do you order it then? I believe it is very entitled to ask a restaurant to change its entire dish just to fit your taste buds.
I think Chef Lee is a nice employer in general, he improvise for the guests, gave instant lesson on the new dish and encouragement to other cooks, I've been working with worse chef idk. 😂
You should watch 4 wheel restaurant - China. You'll probably like him a lot more with that.
I applaud Chef Hongun’s effort being accommodating to his English speaking customers. To me, that’s a good manners. And that way, both sides will learn. Look at how confident he became. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Also, Chef Lee’s improvisation to customer’s request is admirable. I guess many chefs/cooks might have experience this situation before and it takes experience and skills to overcome such crisis. This is a good example to us as customers to understand that running a kitchen isn’t as easy as ABC and to be considerate to the people trying to serve us foods.
To my surprise, he is Chef Lee's son!
I just know these customers are Filipinos
me too right.
i totally agree!!!
Same here
mee too
Same hahah! The moment they speak english, i knew it already.
that westerner's request are weird. Next time when I am in Germany, I will order pork schnitzel without pork
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the level of mad you endure HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I think they thought it was like a dumpling and wanted it un stuffed. Either that or the show told to do it for drama.
Yeah, I don’t think they are European at all. They are totally Americans, but not wanting to be exposed as typical American tourists. Going to Italy like, I want this pizza to be gluten free, dairy free, and non-fat, k’ thanks 😊
No one:
Every filipino on the internet:
oH mY GOD IS THAT A FILIPINO REFERENCE
Hahahah 😂😂
my cousins and i went into a chinese restaurant, and they forgot our dessert, so i looked around for some help. i made eye contact with a waitress, and the look of dread came over her face. i could tell she was nervous about serving us, because she assumed we only knew english; lucky for her, i'm fluent in chinese. it must've been a relief for her.
It's like ordering a beefburger, but without the beef.
Chef Lee is such a generous boss in terms of sharing his knowledge and going for that extra mile in teaching his know-hows.
It looks like these Filipino tourist were briefed in advance to only speak in English. If you have been travelling a lot, you'll know what I mean. 🤣
Omg what does it mean I wanna know the secret
I know what you mean 🤣🤣
I love how the head chef talks to his staff. suggests brainstorming and encouraging words 😍
He is such a great chef he also teaches his apprentices in detail which is very good
Props to Chef Hongun for trying his darndest to get the orders right and answer the questions of the foreign guests. Good improvisation by Chef Lee with the pork toast. Great father and son teamwork!
Omg! Chef Hongu is awesome!!! Respect ✊ for trying to speak English.
he so good he tried his best even without knowing much english, first one with fil customers he was shocked awkward then he just tried again with the second customers hahhahaha thank god
I feel like it’s just me , but every time idk what a dish is in a menu I usually search for it and see myself instead of asking
It's really nice when the person cooking for you goes an extra mile
His English was pretty good. He got his points across and that’s all that matters.
I must say chef hongun is handsome and reliable😻
ANOTHER REASON WHY I'M STUDYING KOREAN AS HARD AS I CAN ♡ hoping that when I visit the country, I would be able to make the people around me at ease as well. It's a goal that I'm also trying to consider.
Judging from the accent and overall, i already knew they're filipina
The fact that we thought English is easy but for non-english speakers it's hard is just weird for me.
Same I’m not from a English talking country but when my class mates don’t understand what a article is about during a English class I’m like :|
@@Noor-fx1dx Ikr. I used to be in a International School then I moved into a national school which means not all of them can speak English. Every English subject they would ask me what is "..... " which annoy me the most.
I've travelled to korea before and they do have problem with English. I believed the use of English as second language is not widely speak in korea unlike other ASEAN country like malaysia, singapore, indonesia, philliphine and many more. Sometimes, i do think english is the easiest language among others. Btw, i speak 4 languages in my country.
Well, it IS easy in comparison to other languages. I'm German and I've been learning English since second grade. Even if you're older, you can still learn the basics easily - my dad is learning by himself now and can communicate quite well for his age. Of course, SK is a very homogeneous country and there aren't many (English speaking) foreigners living there, so they might not need it as much as European countries for example.
@Pavi ii Of course. They grew up in Korea which almost everyone speaks Korean so when they meet a foreigner they would feel weird by hearing them speaking English.
He is trying hard. To take their order. The food looks so good. Glad the Chef helped his son.
1:"I want a cheeseburger but no cheese"
2:"So you want a hamburger?"
1:"No, A cheeseburger without the cheese"
2:"???"
Aww he’s really kind and patient. English is harder than some may realize. It could be the only language you speak and you can still have issues.
Chef Hongun is cool helping out that way when he has his job to do as well.
10:17 Chef Lee Hongun's face when he said Boss Chef was so cute 😂
I DIED when he said "OH MY GAW"
I love Chef Lee, he always calm in every situation & has a fatherly vibe ❤ If you like him, you should watch his other TV Show called "Please take care of my Refrigerator" , obviously he is my favourite 💖💖
Don't be so harsh to the girls who ordered the menbosha without the shrimp. Here in Europe is very normal and not rude to ask for ingredients change, even in main ingredients. If they can't, then the waiter will tell you to order another thing. They must haven't known that in Korea is unusual, but I'm impressed by how the chef improvised!
I just realize there was yu jaesuk VJ from running man (kwon ryeol) at 10:50
He's really cute tbh, the way he put effort talking to them in English 👉🏻👈🏻😞❤️
they're so hilarious. it's like you wants to order black bean noodle without black bean lmaoo
The chef is very considerate for the international customers😊
Love the father and son duo.
I have to praise Chef Hongun for making an effort and trying his best to offer good customer service!
If they don't have someone there who speaks some basic English, they could do an english version of their menu card (maybe with explanations) which could be handed out - at least if they have foreign customers on a regular basis.
But in saying that anyone travelling to different countries should have some kind Korean
@@tapalitapali5440 I agree that if you travel to another country, you should learn some basic phrases in general to show respect. But you can also expect that - as a famous restaurant - a lot of foreigners would visit, so some basic English should be normal. This is relevant for every country, not just SK. If people visit my country Germany for example, most of them don't bother to learn basic German - they all just speak English. So it's the same for everyone.
or tell those stupid foreigners to use their smartphone.
how tf you come to non english speaking contry but expect them to understand/speak english
@@user-qi8np6wo7s Why are you so aggressive and rude? You sound like an extremist. English is the international language around the world. Tourists use it in every other country, not just in SK. If you want to make money off of tourists and be known internationally, you would offer basic english translations - it's business. Also, people from asian countries don't learn german either but they come (or came) here in masses as tourists or students, lol. A lot of them just speak english themselves and don't bother with learning the language.
@@YunYuki not sweetheart, its not rude but smart. clearly the employees didnt speak english, why did they keep asking this and that, also why tf they ordered food without the main ingredient
there is no rule say that korean need to speak english for international costumer. you come to their country then respect them, if they dont speak english then use your phone or at least just order something without too much questions. its not hard to say "이거 하나 주세요" just point which food you like and say this one please.
koreans do not obligate to speak english in their own country. tourists are the one who obligate to speak simple korean. there is thousands books about simple korean, if you dont wanna buy it then use your smartphone 🤦🏽♂️
They are definitely Filipino❤
I find it so funny how chef lee yeonbok laughs at his son when he is speaking in English...
if you order chicken satay without chicken, I'll serve you stick skewer with sauce hahaha
I loved this ep💕
good episode more chef lee!!!
OMG THE TEAM LEADERS FACE WHEN HE SAID PORKKKK😂😂☠️☠️☠️
Using a pork meatball with a brilliant idea! And adding the pork belly oil to it also gives a great flavor and keeps it moist. I'm definitely going to have to try this out. Excellent job chef!!!
Am i the only one who thinks that chef Lee's laugh is so cute
팀장님 영어 진짜 잘 하시네요!
팀장님 사랑해요💚💚💚
i work in a korean cafe and it’s honestly so ridiculous when customers come in (not all but especially foreigners) customise the menus to hell and back without thinking of the food type itself 😭 i can understand simple things like a change of protein, removing the meat for vegetarians or maybe asking for soft tofu instead of hard- but the amount of times i get people asking for glass noodles to be added in dolsot bibimbab is baffling 😭
English is important..before this i never learn and speak english but after i stay in the island of langkawi for few month i start learn and speak english cause every day i will see tourist from all over the world..now also learn more english
I don't know why but everytime I see Chef Lee, Yugyeom always comes up in my mind😂
I can understand asking the level of spiciness, but lmao I would have just googled what menbosha is. The Head Chef is so kind, willing to change the dish and taking pics. He probably has so much other things to do
Wow. He just improvised like that!
Impressive... Want to visit their restaurant❤️❤️
Having worked at restaurants before, whenever I do encounter foreigners who cannot speak my first language, immediately I'd break the sentences down in simpler terms just so I'm on their level. Gets things done easier.
Chef hongun is so cute!he is very likeable
besides their accents, they ask the staff to take photos its totally a very Filipino thing
Found out that actually his dad. That’s cool
He went back to teach them in case he is never around they can make it nice jeb boss 💕
Just one look. They're Filipinas
Chef Lee Yeon Bok and Chef Lee Hongun are so cute together.
It' show how you should improvise as a restaurant/business owner
Respect to chef yang
Out of the box thinking and quick wit
yes they are Filipinos😊😍😍
Ughhhhhh both son and father is soooo cuteeee
If I’m going to a foreign country I would definitely prepare and study the basic, use gestures, pictures, and google translate. I wouldn’t make things difficult and expect the waiters to know English, especially in a country where English is not the main language
i love chef hongu. he's cute
I would like to be part of his crew.😁❤ I can learn every single day.
- I think these lovely ladies were Filipina
The accent 😂
Pretty sure lmao, was working in China before and will be assigned in sokor probably before 2021, if you often travel Asia you'll notice Filipino English accent easily, unless it's in the US or EU you can differentiate it quite easily, probably cuz Filipinos have their own way of learning english so it comes with a hard accent,
@@JB-wl5sf - indeed :)
Yeah I think so too
I thought so too,the looks and the accent does sounds like Filipino's.
It's so early there wasn't any comments for me to read while watching
Right?! I felt so lost
@@alicej3338 yeah so I fully focused xd
so cute😍
When those foreigners ordered shrimp toast and ask for no shrimp, i was expecting chef to say "it is not possible" . Chef Lee made quick changes, they are quick to improvise according to their customers' choices..there goes the saying "the customer is always right"
pag dito sa pilipinas yan maririnig mo "hindi pwede"
They're Filipinos for sure 😁
The looks and the way they talk tells me so
I like this restaurant 😻😍😍😻
Mga Pinoy! ✌️😂😂😂
Oh my God.i think they are Filipinos.😂😂😂😃my kababayan.nice to see u here.💕💖💖💖💖😂😂😃😃😃
The foreigners probably didn't know that the main ingredient of membosa is shrimp.
am i tooo early 😂
So which is the more popular second language for koreans? Japanese, chinese or english? Just asking out of curiousity. Or is it depending on region?
I think Koreans tend to learn Chinese somewhat easier than the other languages because in their history they used Chinese characters in writing.
Korean sounds like Chinese dialect - Hokkien from Fujian. I'm a Singaporean who speaks Hokkien, and when I travelled to Korea, I could understand some of the vocabulary as they sounded similar.
Japan sounded like a total different language to me personally. Gotta learn by heart. Not so easy to connect and relate to my native language.
JieJie Chua - Japanese writing kanja has same meaning as Chinese. Korea hanja has different meaning from Chinese even though their writing system is same.
Thank you for the answers.
I lived in japan for a few years and have always thought koreans are the best japanese speakers among foreigners.
Now just realized it's not even your specialty. 😔 jealous 😂
I should go to Busan when I visit Korea next year. Wanna eat here💯💯
,, taas ang bandila Ng Mga Pilipino!!!🤘🤘🤘
I am certain, that those customers are Filipinos by the way they speak English. We (Yes! I am a Filipino) have a distinct way of speaking English because it is not our native language.
Racel Elomina yeah deffo pinays
Everyone is mad about the Danes' orders but I honestly don't see the problem.... I used to work in back of house, almost everyday we would get customers that have food allergies or they simply don't like it. For example: Ahi tuna salad without tuna. All we have to do is substitute to another protein that available at hand like grill chicken (after checking with the customer obviously). It's not rude, you personally understand your palate the most. She even asked polite if that's okay since it's a popular dish in that restaurant and they really wanted to try it.
Filipinos have this thing that can detect someone who is a Filipino just by watching them
Every Filipino Trying different resto: What is your specialty here? 😂
It's funny coz we kinda do it too " What's your best seller?"
I like this episode so funny HAHA
This is soo funny! LOL, poor chef.
I think they really need an employee who can speak English well.
Anne Mendoza - it is hard to find because with this skill needs to be paid more. It is good to know basic English or give the English menu with numbers on it. Or bring translator app. But it is not necessary because there tools for it.
Even I thought it was bakery for bread even though I'm American! 🤣
A costumer ordering Shrimp Bread without Shrimp and want to replace a pork even if is not in the menu HAHAHA
Respects to the chefs though I really wanna visit one day. Those are the customers I really despise. How disrespectful. I’ve mainly been working in the food industry wanting to become a chef so I worked front and back but man... I really can’t stand ppl without common sense and privilege.
Y’all are quick to judge and spread hate, forgetting that this is tv and all tv is staged lol
Use your common sense, everyone is acting, the foreigners probably speak Korean (how else would they get hired/scouted hm? No one gets filmed for national tv without consent or getting directed on how to act) and the workers definitely speak basic English as this restaurant is SUPER famous and in a hotel area for foreigners. It’s tv, it’s meant to look awkward for dramatic effect
Also, be careful with hating on everything you see online, you never get the full picture. Imagine if it was you in this show and you just act as the directors tell you to and then get hated on? Wouldn’t feel nice would it..
that second table of customers at the end, HOLD THIS BIG ASS L
It’s extremely funny seeing them struggle in English when I have captions I can read.
“I want a dish but take out the main part” like wtf🙃
Boss chef indeed.
