if your Lumia is sim locked will flashing other firmware to it unlock it?
Sadly, somehow mine has a fried datalane on the USB. I can charge it, but PCs do not see it... But i will be the first to test it (or similar things) after a new windows phones are released! :)

Astoria exists but requires android apps from 4.4+ api 19 so many apps don't work.
As said, you can use Astoria (Min Android 4.4 apps only & also more issues) for that purpose but at the expense of all the latest UWP applications.

Actually, there is no link between either of them.
Astoria package manager (Successor to Astoria package installer) is to manage installing android applications to Windows 10 Mobile Astoria insider builds.
It does not deal with typical Windows Phone applications (XAP, APPX/Bundle)
Astoria package manager is only to use in Astoria builds, not any others.
But the Windows Phone application deployment or WPV Xap deployer (Which is what you meant I guess by "sideload XAP PC software") is created to sideload XAP & APPX/Bundle packages of Windows Phone apps to Windows Phone 8.1, though it works with Windows 10 Mobile as well.
(WPV only supports XAPs, WP Application Deployment supports APPX/Bundle but only Windows Phone 8.1 APPX/Bundle packages)
Despite the above;
If you are in Windows 10 Mobile, you don't have to use any software involving PC to sideload XAP or APPX/Bundle cause there are great installers created to install them right via the phone itself.

@@w10mgroup Good , by the way which one is the safe or easy method right now beacuse there alot of methods for windows phone like unlocking root/boatloader for 8.1 to deply apps or install using Astoria or if you have windows 10 you can deploy without unlocking bootloader ,, So what do you recommend can i upgrade it to windows 10 ( lumia 1520 ) or Win 8.1 is better for deploying ?
Hi, I have a Lumia 830. the phone was dead for many years and I wish to fix that. I downloaded ffu and ede files and also the donor as you mentioned. I can reach to "flash" state (two crosses on the phone screen), but when I try to unlock the bootloader, or even flash the phone, that stopped in some same percentages (6% o r7%) and don't move after that. is this a hard issue or that could be fixed?

This could be either software / hardware flaw, can't really pinpoint which is the problem.
In exactly what step the flashing stops? "Scanning for flashing profile" or just in regular flashing?

If this doesn't work, try in a different PC and make sure to use USB 2.0 ports & a different data cable.
If the process always getting stuck in the same percentage in each attempt always, then that can be a hardware defect.
Hi, I have Lumia 930, same model you shown in video. When I try to flash it, WPInternals just crashes, in log, last message is: "Indeks wykracza poza granice tablicy" which means Index outside bounds of array. I'm trying to unlock bootloader for week and I still haven't suceeded. Please, help

Make sure WDRT is installed in your PC you are using to Unlock.
And also make sure to use a confirmed working data cable for the process.
Also, if the issue still persists, try on a different PC.

The process described in the video is for SPEC-B Bootloader Lumia devices.
But it can also be done for SPEC-A Bootloader Lumia devices (Like Lumia 920), just the process is a little bit different and there is no video guide for those yet due to certain reasons.

Was trying to unlock my 640 but it was stuck at flashing the unlocked ffu. Luckly after reboot it booted to flash mode so i recovered. What really happened?

There can be more than one reason for failures during the bl unlock process varying from the PCs end to the Mobile's end and also the tools used in the process.
So, it's not really possible to pin-point the exact cause sadly.

When I try to install WDRT, it tells me that it failed due to a "Catastrophic Faliure." I'm using a Lumia 1520

whenever i try to unlock bootloader, wpi just waits for mass storage to unlock so he can continue, but he never detects my phone even i have the folder of main os on my file manager (and windows device manager does not want to install)
Frankly I can only tell you to try using a different PC.
Also, is WDRT is installed (At least the drivers of it)?
nope, but i cant install it...
somehow my pc says "catastrophic error" on the installer. Maybe its the failure on trying to connect on ms servers cause i cant install it from the official web@@w10mgroup
The online installer (Which is the official installer) is currently dead at the moment due to server issues.
You need to use the offline installer made by one of our Devs.

This guide is for devices with bootloader spec-b, the 820 is a spec-a device so this guide isn't applicable.
I haven't made a SPEC-A video guide yet (hopefully soon when I resurrect a SPEC-A device) so you might need to follow the Documented SPEC-A guide in W.U.T or some other guide from a trusted source.
That said, some info in this guide also applies to SPEC-A unlocking as well but the used files & the process is a little bit different.

I tried to find other sources but they were a bit confusing. Your way of explaining step by step is more clear. I will wait until you make one for Spec-A device so I can make it fully usable again in 2024.
I have followed your guide and updated it to GDR2 WP8.1 Denim but I was wondering if I could install XAP files from my PC with this update or its better for me to wait for you to make a video?
Secondly, what files should I prepare in the mean time? because my internet connection is not very good so download will take time so please tell me what I can download as preparation for now.
You can try the documented guide in the WP8.1 Group repository (mega.nz/folder/rBQCQAAA#RL_uGu2CqgeIya6HadZEmg) though if you want to wait for the video version, that's also fine.
Both the Windows Phone 8.1 Builds targeted in GDR1 & GDR2 video guides are jailbreak applicable (GDR2 build doesn't support Root but it's rarely used)
Lastly about the files, you will need your device original FFU, Emergency files (MBN, HEX), Engineering SBL3 for your model, and lastly Donor FFU (optional)

@@w10mgroup I so far got the original FFU and the donor FFU ready. I don't know about "Emergency files (MBN, HEX), Engineering SBL3 for your model" . . but I guess WPI should be able to automatically download them or you prefer I obtain them from the guide?
Yes, I have upgraded to GDR2 already following ur video and I prefer to wait for the video about my lumia 820 spec-a because it is really simple to understand rather than reading guides on google.

The reason you can't click Unlock will be displayed above the button in red text, what does it say?
About the Nokia logo, that's normal.
Older lumia (based on OS version) will display the Nokia logo instead two arrows, but it's still the flash app/mode so don't worry about it.

I'm not going to ask what caused it cause you haven't mentioned it for some reason.
You will need to set WPI to interrupt the boot process and then flash the original FFU to the phone.

Unlocking bootloader and backing them up via accessing Mass Storage mode is the most straightforward option.

None as far as I know.

If you create a custom FFU, you will still need unlocked bootloader to flash it cause it's not prod signed.

From the looks of it, yes, you can.
But do it only if you really need it.
For regular users, Interop Unlock is more than enough and it's 100% safer than BL unlock procedure.

You will need to re-flash the device to get out of that state.
Set WPI to interrupt the Boot process and then flash the original FFU.

If you recovered your device, then you can.
Though take a good note of the PRE-NOTES (05:50) in the video prior to bootloader unlock, these are important and can sometime save a brick.

This error isn't really pin-pointable to an exact cause.
For starters: redownload the .FFU & Emergency files for your device manually.

I tried on my lumia 635 and after completing the process and rebooting it, it returned in a screen of bitlocker recovery. Does anyone knows why and how to recover it?
Guess you have missed the PRE-NOTEs before attempting to bootloader unlock in 06:00
You have to turn it off else WPI will fail to boot the device to Mass Storage Mode.
To resolve it, either;
> Re-lock the Bootloader, then turn it OFF and then re-unlock (Make sure to reboot the device at least once again after re-locking)
> Re-flash the device with WPI and start over.
